AKER, JOYCE Age 73, peacefully passed from this life on Saturday, January 31, 2015. She was born in Kentucky and has been a resident of New Mexico for more than 60 years. CALKINS, PHILIP D. Philip D. Calkins, "Phil," 55, passed away February 3, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, of Albuquerque; sisters, Cheryl Cordero and husband Steve, of Rio Rancho, Kathy Cooney and husband Pat, of Los Lunas; brothers, Cliff Calkins, of Norcross, GA, Mike Calkins and wife Carol, of Aurora, CO, and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Rose and Neil Calkins, and his brother, Kevin. He worked for many years in residential construction and was a big LOBO fan. GEORGE, DARRYL L. George was born September 29, 1966 in Ft. Myers, Florida. He passed away suddenly Sunday, February 1, 2015. Darryl will be remembered for his love of professional football, the Miami Dolphins and for his love of watching and attending professional wrestling. As well, he was well liked and respected by his colleagues, serving as manager of McDonalds, Burger King and Sonic restaurants. He will be greatly missed. GOESLING, VALERA M. Valera M. Goesling, age 96, a friendly, kind and gentle soul, passed away on Thursday, January 29th, welcomed into the arms of her Lord Jesus. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred H. Goesling and four sons; Robert Lee Thorn, Jonnie Thorn, Clifford Thorn and Richard "Stretch" Goesling. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Goesling Duncan of Rio Rancho; brother H.D. (Faith) Garrett of St. George, Utah and sister JoeAnn (Dale) Gantz of Las Cruces, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Valera was born February 20, 1918 in Roscoe, Texas to Morgan and Minnie Garrett along with 11 other siblings. Her youth was spent in Deming, New Mexico where her family moved for irrigation farming. After her and her first husband Bob Thorn divorced, she met and married Alfred Goesling and moved to the Goesling Homestead near St. Johns, Arizona where she lived until 2005. Valera came to know the Lord about this time and raised her children with strong faith and Biblical principles. She was very creative, had a great sense of humor, loved reading, researching family history and photos, singing hymns, playing the piano, was an avid rock hound, enjoyed deer hunting and all those things a rural life affords. The Goesling Bros. raised Registered Hereford Cattle and were blessed by her many years of hard work helping in the ranch operation. Her contributions of genuine love for others especially resonated with her own children who loved her dearly. A service will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 at 1:00pm at FRENCH- Rio Rancho. Burial will take place Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Deming, New Mexico at 1:00pm at Mountain View Cemetery. LOPEZ, MARGARET M. age 83, born in Moriarty, NM and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Mrs. Lopez is survived by her husband of sixty four years, Cecilio Lopez; children, Sylvia Parra and husband, Alvin Vigil, Irlene Suter, and husband, Robert, Marty Lopez and wife, Kathy, Bernadette Warnamunde and husband, Joe; sisters, Rose Perea, Alice Martinez, Lydia Powers and husband, Bill, Delora Marquez and husband, Ernie; sister-in-law, May Martinez; brother-in-law, Adrian Martinez; eleven grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. MARQUEZ, RICHARD C. Richard Carlos Marquez Age 25, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2015. Richie, aka momma's boy, loved being with family and friends. He had the biggest heart and a smile to match. He was passionate about music, rapping, and the Duke City. He also loved his Redskins and Chicago Bulls. Richie, you will forever be in our hearts. MARTINEZ, ANTHONY J. Anthony J. Martinez of Albuquerque, NM passed away peacefully on Jan 29, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Barbara Martinez; his children Vanessa, Joe, Laverne, Mike, Kelly, Nathan and Leonard, as well as many loving brothers and sisters, most living in Colorado. He was born April 4, 1934 in Alamosa, Co to Wilma Sanchez and Frank Martinez. In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated and there will be no services. A celebration of his life is planned in Colorado this Summer. His sense of humor and beautiful smile will be greatly missed.

MISENER, CORAL JEAN was born July 23, 1936 in Denver, Colorado to Gladys and Edward Steenbergen, and died Saturday, January 31, 2015 in Belen, New Mexico. Coral will be remembered for her love and devotion for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed travelling and being in the outdoors surrounded by those she loved. Coral married Milford Misener in 1952. She was a devoted pastor's wife supporting both the churches to whom they ministered and leading in education for children of all ages. As well, she served in our state Baptist convention in several capacities. Coral was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her son, Randy and her grandson, Garrett. She is survived by her beloved husband, Milford; her children, Chari Ritchie and husband Jerry, Gary Misener and wife Susan, Denise Gleason and husband Paul; daughter-in-law, Liddy Rymarz-Misener; brother-in-law, Phil Misener; grandchildren, Jana and Anne Misener and Chelsea Ritchie; many nieces, nephews and numerous treasured friends. MODROW, HAROLD E. II Harold (Hal) Modrow peacefully left this earth on February 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 16, 1926 in Springfield, IL to Harold E. Sr. and Thelma Modrow. He joined the Army during World War II, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After the war, Hal met the love of his life, Dorothy at Northwestern Univ and were married on July 22, 1950. They loved to travel and after retirement spent most of their time traveling in their motor home, especially with the Ballut Abyud Nomads. Hal was a fifty-year member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, and a proud member of Ballut Abyud Shrine Temple. Hal was most proud of his family who loved and adored him. He leaves behind his three children, Mary S. Modrow of Albuquerque, Harold (Harry) E. Modrow III (wife Patricia) of Walkersville, MD, and Jean A. Groepler (husband Jim) of Lilesville, NC. He is also survived by three adoring grandchildren, Eric J. Modrow (wife Erin) of Ashburn, VA, Katherine P. Modrow and James L. Groepler; and two wonderful great-granddaughters, Natalie & Amanda Modrow. Hal was preceded in death by Dorothy and missed her every day. MORRIS, WAYNE T. Wayne T. Morris, age 60, beloved brother to Simone, Kenneth, and Vanessa, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015, after a short illness. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand- nieces, grand-nephews, two great-grand-nephews and his longtime companion, Lorraine West. Wayne was born in Brooklyn, NY, was raised in Irvington, NJ, and moved to New Mexico in the mid-70's. He graduated DeWolf School of Cosmetology and worked in his field for 40 years, most recently at Today's Look at Hair Obsessions. He was held in high regard for his skill par excellence. Everyone who met him, loved him and he was there for everyone. He will be forever in our hearts. MURRAY, MARILYN MOYER Marilyn Moyer Murray, age 77, of Belen, NM, passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born on March 20, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Helen and Milton Moyer. Marilyn grew up in K.C. and attended Paseo High School and the University of Kansas where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. She majored in art and was extremely talented. She moved to Albuquerque in the late eighties and later married William Murray. She worked as a decorator for Penneys and then became a team leader for Hallmark Cards. She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Moyer, father Milton Moyer infant brother Robert Allen and step-mother Ann Moyer. She is survived by her husband William Murray of Belen, NM; daughter Jamie Boucher of Billings MT; granddaughters Kelsey (Tony) Hunt, Mariah Boucher; and great granddaughter Addison, all of Billings, MT; sister Joanne Kurre of Leawood, KS; cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of her life and interment at a later date in Kansas City.

NOLEN, GLENNA JEAN a longtime resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 30, 2015. She was born to Jack Nolen and Farris Nichols Nolen in Wichita Falls, TX on October 15, 1928. She was raised by Farris and a wonderful stepfather, Franz Taylor. Glenna graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1947. In 1948, while working for an insurance company downtown, she met Bob, a University of New Mexico senior and World War II Vet, through a mutual friend. They were married on November 19, 1948 at Central Methodist Church at Central and Arno. At the age of 32, while working in the Business Office at Texas Wesleyan College in Ft. Worth, TX, Glenna was encouraged by the President of the College to pursue her longtime dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. With grants and much hard work, she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She taught brilliantly for 25 years in schools in Ft. Worth, Grand Junction, and St. Charles and Sunset Mesa in Albuquerque and then retired after many years at Edgewood Elementary. She loved the kids and they loved her. Glenna is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Nancy; son, John; granddaughters, Wendy and April; three great-grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, and Patricia; and seven great-great-grandchildren; a younger sister, Priscilla Turner of Pound Ridge, NY; and a very special cousin, though they were raised like sisters, Wanda Isenberg, of Crowley, TX, all of whom she loved very much. Cremation has taken place and the Memorial Services will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Central United Methodist Church, 201 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, where she was a longtime member of the Partnership Class. OTT, BEVERLY ANN Beverly Ann Ott was born on June 10, 1952 in San Antonio, Texas to Theodore and Lois Beyert. She lived in Orlando from 2000 until 2006 and in Albuquerque from 2006 until 2014. She was an avid tennis player, loved cards, games, and was a great cook. Beverly was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Beverly Ann Ott passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at her home in Cypress, Texas, at the age of 62 years. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Drew Ott; daughter, Nicole Denise Jones and her husband Corey of San Antonio; her granddaughter, Emma Faith Jones; her brothers, Ted Beyert and his wife Elizabeth, Jeffrey Beyert and his wife Mary, and Robert Beyert and his wife Rosemary. QUINTANA-HARRIS, DEBRA JOANN (DEBBIE) Went home to the Lord unexpectedly at her Los Lunas home on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at age 59. Debbie was born in Santa Fe, NM on May 16, 1955 to Eliseo and Connie Quintana and was a long time resident of Valencia County. Debbie followed in her father's footsteps, retiring after 26 years' service with the state of NM, Corrections Department. Debbie served as an officer with the department, earning promotions to the rank of Lieutenant. Her last several years Debbie served as the training coordinator at Central NM Corrections Facility; she trained, supervised and mentored countless corrections professionals during her time with the department. Debbie always gave of herself, selflessly, always helping, wanting nothing in return. She loved her family and friends and will be truly missed by every person and every life she touched. Debbie is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Antonia and Cirilio Quintana; maternal grandparents, Maria and Guadalupe Roybal; mother-in-law, Chris Harris; brother-in-law, Phillip Trujillo; sister, Patricia (Patsy) Quintana. She is survived by her mother and father; her loving husband, John; son, John Junior, his wife, Jennifer and their two daughters, Samantha and Clerissa; daughters, Connie Renee and Kelli Christine; brother, Ronnie Quintana; sisters, Evelyn and husband, Chico Orona and Mary Elizabeth Trujillo; and numerous nephews, nieces, in-laws and loved ones. And now these three things remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1Corinthians 13:13) Debbie believed this with all her heart and soul, she instilled this in her children and in every person she came into contact with. She was a woman of deep and sincere faith, Debbie was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Belen and was a Catholic Daughter, Debbie sits with her Lord, doing what she could not do in life, watching over and protecting us all. Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Friday, February 6 beginning with a viewing at 6:00PM, followed by the Rosary at 7:00PM. A final viewing will be held on Saturday, February 7 at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. ROMERO, JEANETTE S. Our beloved mother Jeanette S. Romero born September 19, 1962 and passed away January 31, 2015. She is survived by her daughter Elodia Marrufo and husband Juan; sons Christopher Gutierrez and wife Andriana, Adam Gutierrez, and Jose Zuniga; brother Humberto; sisters Julie, Brenda, Nora, Debbie; and has 14 grandchildren. SANCHEZ, LUCY M. Lucy M. Sanchez, age 90, died peacefully on January 31, 2015. Lucy was born on March 9, 1924, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the daughter of Casiano and Sofia Montano. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Manuel Rito Sanchez and their sons Jerry and Leroy Sanchez. She is survived by her brother Joe Montano and his wife Lillian; sons Ernie and Billy Sanchez; daughters Anna Sanchez and Lupe Gutierrez and Lupe's husband Ricky. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Lucy enjoyed playing bingo and singing in the church choir. Lucy was passionate about politics and ran for Bernalillo County Treasurer and Clerk in the 1970s. Lucy retired from the NM State Employee Commission. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart League of Holy Family Church, Blue Army and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 401 and DAV. Funeral services are being coordinated by Direct Funeral Services at Holy Family Church, 552 Atrisco SW on Thursday, February 5, 2015. Viewing will begin at 8 am, rosary at 8:30 am, mass at 9 am. SCHUM, WILLIAM M. (BILL) William M. Schum (Bill) was called home to Heaven on January 31, 2015, one day before his 86th birthday. A beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bill cherished his family and numerous friends. He is survived by his loving bride of 66 years, Doris Schum. His eight children include Michael Schum and wife, Kathryn, Stephen Schum and wife, Margarita and family, Timothy Schum and wife, Mary, Paula Schum (deceased), Kathleen Becker and husband, Fred, Susie McMillin and husband, Harold, Lisa Ferguson and partner, Jeff Zank, Kevin Schum and daughter-in-law, Amy Schum. His 16 grandchildren include Laura Greci, Joy Strangfeld, Paul Schum, Daniel Schum, Clare Schum, David Schum (deceased), Erin Razuri, Amanda May, Stephanie Becker, Aubrey Diaz, Rachel Kilgore, Sara McGuill, Emily Nelson, Kenneth Ferguson, Ashley Ferguson, and Sabrina Schum. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Eleanor Jean Begley, Margaret "Peggy" Schum and Fred Schum. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Vincent and Margaret Schum and by sisters, Edna, Luella, Patricia and Janet. Born February 1, 1929 in Champaign, IL, Bill grew up in a large, loving family in Ivesdale, IL. His family moved to Colorado Springs, where he met the love of his life, Doris Kerby (Babe). After Doris invited him to a Sadie Hawkins Dance, they became inseparable. They married on December 28, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. In 1958, they moved to Albuquerque, NM with their then five young children. Over the next several years, they would have three more children. Bill went to work for the Quality Pontiac dealership by Edmond DiLorenzo. It was the beginning of a long 35 year career. As the Automotive Service Manager, he received numerous Service Excellence Awards. Bill was very active with the Host Lion's Club in the 1970's and 1980's where he served as District Governor for many years. He retired in 1993 and spent his retirement years enjoying his large extended family, working on home remodeling projects, gardening, and traveling extensively throughout the United States and Canada with his beloved wife by his side. The Schum family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff and caregivers at the Woodmark Uptown and to Hospice of New Mexico. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten. A Vigil Service and Rosary will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015, 6:00 p.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Friends may visit beginning at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 6, 2015, 10:00 a.m., also at Risen Savior Catholic Community. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Host Lion's Club, P.O. Box 697, Albuquerque, NM 87103-0697. SCHWARZ, ROSELLA V. Rosella V. Schwarz, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2015. She is survived by daughter Barbara Stolz of Albuquerque; son Jerry Schwarz of Columbus, OH; son John Schwarz of Quakertown, PA; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
