GARCIA, ISABEL "CHAVELA" Isabel "Chavela" Garcia, 82 beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Moe, two sons, "Little" Moe Garcia and Ronnie Trujillo. She is survived by children Tony Trujillo and wife Terry, Richard Trujillo, John Trujillo, Rachel Trujillo, Andrea and husband Manuel Legarda, Marie and husband Joe Yount, Jodie Martinez and Michelle Garcia; ten grandchildren; and 16 great- grandchildren. Services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW. Rosary will be recited at 8:30 am, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place at 1:30 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Pallbearers will be Jason Trujillo, Noah Trujillo, Dennis Gonzales, Jose Cisneros, Jovannie Cisneros, and Bill Lapsley. GIANNINI, PATRICIA E. "PAT" Pat, age 70, died on 1/18/15. She was preceded in death by parents Val and Gladys Giannini, step-mother Joan Preston Giannini, and sister Valerie Giannini Wetherill. Pat is survived by her four children Cindy L. Ham, Galen Val Miller, Jason L. Giannini, Jodie L. Giannini and their families; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers Ed Giannini and Jim Preston and their families; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 5:00pm at St. Michael's and All Angels, www.al-angels.com, located at 601 Montano Rd. MAURINO, DESIREE NICOLE Age 24, became an angel peacefully in her sleep on January 26, 2015. She was born on April 28, 1990 in Albuquerque and graduated from Sandia High School in 2008. Desiree had the biggest and kindest heart of her entire family and wanted to take care of all of us. She would befriend and talk to anyone and always wanted to make a difference and make people happy. Movies, music and singing were her passions and she doted on her pets, Yoshi and Mitten. Desiree and her Nana were inseparable. Her loss is unrepairable. She is survived by her Nana and Bonco, Betty and Jeff Hall; mother, Amy Maurino; brothers, Aaron and Brian; sister, Alyssa and niece, Ashlyn; uncle and godfather, Ernie Maurino and aunt Sonia; cousins Craig, Christopher, Cameron, Lorenzo and Isangele; and great-grandparents, Pearl Crespin (Lil One) and Rudy and Debbie Crespin. Desiree brightened our lives with her laugh, her smile, her funny phrases and sense of humor. Desiree was beautiful inside and out. She will be missed by many and now lost to the world. "Death ends a life, but it does not end a relationship, which struggles on in the survivor's mind toward some resolution which it may never find." MCCORD, JAMES (MAC) His soul sailed away into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ forever on January 27, 2015 in Moriarty, NM. Mac was born on June 22, 1940 in Corona, NM to Mr. & Mrs. Cecil McCord. Mac, Chief Petty Officer served our country for 20 years in the US Navy. He is survived by his soulmate and wife Peggy "Boots" McCord; son, Jimmy McCord, his grandchildren, Justin and Jessie; daughter Tammy, grandchildren, Andy and Megan; great-grandchildren; as well as his sister Catherine "Sissy" Pashell. PESIKAN, SHARON KAY Sharon Kay Pesikan was called to her eternal home on January 25, 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer and diabetes. She was born in Colorado on March 25, 1940 and spent most of her life in Raton with her husband Myles Pesikan (who preceded her in death) and two children before moving to Albuquerque in 2007. She is survived by her two children, Jon Myles Pesikan and Paula Sure Pesikan, both of Albuquerque; sister Audrey Evans of Albuquerque; three brothers, Dale Good and his wife Wilma of San Diego, California, Rev. Donald Good and wife Larene of Mesa Arizona, and Lloyd Good of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Bob Brogan of Pennsylvania; her sister-in-law, Christine Mahana of Raton, NM; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Hazel and John Good. Sharon was a godly woman of tremendous faith and will be greatly missed by her loving family and those whose hearts she touched. There will be a memorial service on January 31st at 2 p.m. at Del Norte Baptist Church, 5800 Montgomery Boulevard Northeast.

ROBERTSON, JAMES DOUGLASS "ROBBY" Mr. James Douglass Robertson of Albuquerque, NM, died Monday, January 26, 2015. He was 89 years of age. "Robby", as he was known to his friends, was born in Groton, CT, on November 27, 1925. He is survived by four children, Margaret Robertson, Groton, CT; Elizabeth Weil, Groton; CT, Ted Robertson, Colorado Springs, CO; and Carl Robertson, Cromwell, CT; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, all residing in southeastern, CT. Mr. Robertson was a member of the United States Navy for 8 years followed by 20 years in the Army. He served with the Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII and in Korea and Viet Nam with the Army, retiring in 1969 as a Major and moved his family to Groton, CT, in 1970. Mr. Robertson settled in Albuquerque, NM, in the mid-1980s. He was an active amateur radio operator, a photographer, square dancer and loved to travel the country during the summer months. He was the family genealogist which led him to Europe as part of the project. He filled his spare time supporting community organizations and events. He was also a member of the Masonic order, the second most current in a line of Masons dating to the 1700s. His home lodge was Temple 6 in Albuquerque, NM. He was an accomplished writer, publishing his book, "Robby", in 2012, which chronicles his life and experiences as a teenager during WWII. Mr. Robertson's storied life will be commemorated during memorial services at the Masonic lodge in Albuquerque on Saturday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception for attendees. ROMERO, LEVI A. Funeral Services have been changed due to weather conditions. Levi A. (LA) Romero, New Mexican son, friend, brother, husband, and father, born in Velarde, New Mexico to Flavio and Cirila (nee Martinez) Romero on April 23, 1931, died quietly on January 27, 2015 in Sun City, AZ after a long and private battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Levi proudly served three tours as a sergeant in the Korean War earning a Purple Heart. He worked in the New Mexico state government for many years in the department of finance administration as well as in the department of corrections and as warden of NM Penitentiary. He also worked as a private accountant, and taught college accounting. After his retirement from state government, he returned to work as City Manager of Espanola before retiring again with his beloved wife, Frina (nee Gallegos), to Sun City. Levi was married to Frina, whom he preceded in death, for 57 years and leaves behind his children, Levi A. Romero Jr., Annamaria Romero-Lehrer, Socorro Snow, Josina Romero O'Connell, and Cristina Castaneda; as well as his loving sons-in-law; 13 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. He now rests in peace leaving us all with memories of a great man who had a quick wit, handsome grin, musical talent, and infectious laughter that liberally peppered the many stories he loved telling. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Velarde. Please join us for a Rosary before the Mass at 10 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. You may also join us for his interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3rd. Levi would ask for the flowers of your prayers rather than real flowers at his grave and his family asks that if you are so moved, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Sun City, AZ.

SAYRE, THERESE M. Terrie Q. Sayre, 54 of Albuquerque since 2007, died Thursday January 22, 2015. She is survived by her spouse Lloyd K. Skip Sayre of Albuquerque; brother, Brad; nieces, nephews and friends. Terrie was preceded in death by her father James and her mother Beverly. Since 2007 Terrie hosted the popular New Mexico radio show "Weekends with Terrie Q Sayre" on 770 KKOB. She had a long career as a radio and television host, auctioneer, mistress of ceremonies, model, showgirl and actress. She was a tireless advocate for the animals of the world and used her positions as a media personality to publicize the causes of animal welfare, dog and cat rescue for many years in both Nevada and New Mexico. She helped facilitate the adoption of hundreds of homeless pets. She was born in Van Nuys, California and spent her childhood in Van Nuys and Lake Oswego, Oregon. She moved to South Lake Tahoe, California as a young woman and lived in Northern Nevada until she relocated to New Mexico to pursue her broadcasting career. SHIPLET, DONNA MAY (SMITH) Age 67, passed away with her daughters by her side on January 26, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM due to complications with pneumonia. Donna was born on April 18, 1947 in Clayton, NM to George and Winifred Smith. She grew up in Tucumcari, NM and graduated from The University of New Mexico in 1969 with a degree in Education. She married Charles Wayne Shiplet in 1970. Donna was a teacher for six years and then dedicated her life to her family. She helped her husband build his Veterinary business, Thunderbird Animal Clinic and volunteered her time to girl scouts, Eldorado High School cheerleading, New Mexico Ballet Company, Lana's School of Dance, and special education classrooms. Donna was a creative person and loved working on multiple crafts. Her biggest joy in life was her two daughters, her family, and friends and was known for doing anything for them. Donna is survived by her daughters, Keri Shiplet and Jennifer Dodrill (Brad); and her grandson, Jayden Dodrill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne (2005). STEVENS, VIRGINIA MIGNON A light was extinguished for a family so blessed to have Mignon Stevens as a mother, a grandmother (Nonnie) or simply as a part of our lives. She moves on to a brighter light where she will be welcomed by her Lord and be returned to the love of her life, her husband, George Stevens. Mignon will forever be in her family's hearts, prayers and memories and our lives are so much brighter because of her gentle love and gentle spirit. Our mother was born in 1929 in Norton, Texas and graduated from Paris High (Texas). She was born to Hazel and Ivan Scarbrough. She is survived by her her four children, Meave Stevens Dominguez and her husband, Jerry, Tracy Ingles and her husband, John, Richard Stevens, and Lynne LaBeau and her husband, Wayne. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, John Ingles Jr., Cameron Ingles, Elisa (LaBeau) DiMenna, Holly LaBeau, Jared Dominguez, Jalen Dominguez, Trevor Stevens, Kelsey Stevens; as well as three great-grandchildren, Kayley LaBeau, Madeleine DiMenna and Hunter DiMenna. STUMP, RUSSELL LOWELL Passed away on January 26, 2015 at the age of 91. He was born in Goshen, Indiana to Russell J. and Marice A. Stump. His wife, Evelyn, preceded him in death in 2012. He is survived by his five children: Judy Lake of Vernon, AZ, Jerri Zimmerman of Altoona, PA, Jim Stump of Dallas, TX, Jackie Webb of Albuquerque, NM and Janet Tipton of Chandler, AZ and their spouses. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 28 great- grandchildren; eight great-great- grandchildren; his brother, Dan Stump of Albuquerque, NM; and sister, Dorothy Prout of Bloomington, IN. He served his country in the Navy during WWII where he learned his skills as a machinist. After moving to Albuquerque in 1954, he worked as a machinist and tool and die maker. He established a business partnership at Benischek Manufacturing Company and eventually established his own company; Custom Manufacturing. Russell was very active in his church serving for years on church boards and private school boards. Family members will receive friends for a Memorial Service on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 3 pm at Heights First Church of the Nazarene located at 8401 Paseo del Norte NE, Albuquerque.

ZALUGA, SHIRLEY MAE "MIMI" Was born July 10, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois Shirley passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the age of 85, surrounded by her family. Shirley was an accomplished speller as a child. A highlight was participating in a state spelling bee in Chicago, Illinois in 1939 which was broadcast on the radio. In 1950 she set out on a new adventure with the love of her life, Dick, moving from Chicago Ill., to Albuquerque, NM. They settled in the North Valley where they made many lifelong friends. After being a secretary at Sandia Labs and while raising two children, she was very proud to earn her Licensed Practical Nurse degree in 1973. She and Dick had many friends from the surrounding pueblos and Navajo reservation. They owned and operated Running Buffalo Trading Post on the Zuni Indian Reservation in the 1970's. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Richard (Dick) Zaluga and by her infant son, Ricky; parents, John H. and Mildred Scherffius and brother Eddie Scherffius. She is survived by her sister, Mary and husband Tom McFadden of Elgin, Ill.; brother, John L. Scherffius of O'Fallon, MO; daughter, Jill Zaluga-Herman and husband Alan Herman; son, John and wife Robin Zaluga; grandchildren, Hanna Herman, Ruby Herman, Heather and Michael Locke, Holly and husband Jared Alderete, Zach and Bianca Zaluga and Eliahs Zaluga; great-grandchildren, Cain Alderete, Korryn Alderete and Duke Herman; beloved friend, Lucille Neely; and her special four-legged child, Athena. The family would like to send a special thank you to the compassionate and caring staff at The Cottages and Amber Care Hospice for their wonderful care and concern for Mimi and her family in these difficult times.
