GAIK, EUGENE WALTER Major, US Army, Retired; age 58 of Albuquerque, NM passed away on 18 January, 2015 from complications due to ALS. He is survived by three children, Alison Gaik and Natalie Gaik of Albuquerque, NM, and Russell Gaik of Denver, CO; his parents, Dawn and Gene Gaik of Huntley, IL; and his sisters, Glorianne DeJure (and family) of Saint Charles, IL and Betsy Dowse (and family) of Menomonee Falls, WI. Gene attended Western Illinois University where he was active in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He spent 24 years on active duty in the Army as a Military Police Officer and deployed to Saudi Arabia with Operation Desert Storm. Upon retirement from the Army, he was a successful realtor in Albuquerque. Gene served the Albuquerque community as an active member of the Del Norte Rotary Club, serving as President from July 2013 to July 2014. Gene's love for his children, his leadership, ready wit and humor, optimism, and love of life will be greatly missed by his friends, family, loved ones, and all who benefited from knowing him.
