SEQUIST -- Victoria Sequist, 65, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 15 years, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2008. Victoria was born December 29, 1942 the daughter of Onesimo and Manuelita Romero Cordova in Taos Pueblo, NM. She was a member of the Taos Pueblo tribe. Victoria was an avid reader, gardener, did arts and crafts (pottery and crochet), enjoyed traveling, and had a special love for her grandchildren. Victoria is survived by her husband of over 38 years, Jack Sequist; five children, James Weahkee, Stephanie Macapagal, Dion Weahkee, Kimberly Sequist and husband Frank Maestas all of Rio Rancho, and Dr. Thomas Sequist and wife Dr. Lecia Sequist of Boston, MA; seven grandchildren, Victoria Macapagal, Tina Macapagal, Kaitlyn Sequist, Christopher Maestas, Jackson Sequist, Gabriel Sequist, and Kassandra Weahkee; brothers and sisters, Beatrice Lujan and husband Vincent of Taos, NM, Jerry Cordova and wife Lorraine Edmo of Washington, DC, Mary Billy of Rio Rancho, NM, James Cordova, Joseph Cordova, and Miriam Cordova, all of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Visitation for Victoria will be held today, Tuesday, October 28, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, followed by interment in Vista Verde Memorial Park, Rio Rancho. It has been suggested that memorial contributions be made in Victoria's name to the Vista Care Hospice, 5639 Jefferson St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. CHAVEZ -- Solomon Chavez, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years who was born in Brazil, Marianeuza Bahia Chavez; two daughters, Terry Lujan and Marcy Montoya; five brothers Ray, Eloy, Johnny, Willie and Benito; two sisters Beatrice Sandoval and Josie Wasson; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Mr. Chavez was loved by all who knew him and will always be remembered as a wonderful musician. He retired from Sandia National Labs after 30 years. Cremation has taken place. LUJAN -- Bonifacio H. Lujan age 78, passed away on Tuesday October 21, 2008, after a long illness. He served in the Korean War, and was a Combat Veteran. He is survived by his wife Ruth G. Lujan; children Anthony Lujan, Cecilia and husband Ron Pincomb, Jim B. Lujan, Sam L. Lujan, Lupe Margaret Lujan, and husband John Sinclair; four loving sisters Rachel Silva, Erlinda and husband Tony Ortiz, Vera and husband Art Diez, Theresa and husband Tony Lujan; one loving brother Ted and wife Voni Lujan; aunts Nora Vigil, Aubrura Lujan; special niece Gabriella (Bertha) and husband Rudy Garcia. Sisters-in-law Jessie Martinez, Margie and husband Paul Trujillo, Veronica Gonzales, Priscilla Lujan; brother-in-law Manuel Gonzales; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, and cousins. SANCHEZ -- Gabriel "Gabe" V. Sanchez, 70, resident of Albuquerque, went home to the Lord on Thursday, October 16, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernesto and Carlota Vigil. He is survived by his brothers Ernie and Melba Vigil, Dan and Donna Vigil, and Abie and Antionette Vigil; his sisters Selina and Rosendo Lujan, Carol and Carmel Chavez, and Onila and Maranio Garcia; and many nephews and nieces. Gabe served his country in the Marine Corps. He retired from Sandia Labs and was a woodworker. RUBIO -- Joseph "Steve" Rubio died Saturday, September 13, 2008 in Albuquerque at the age of 54. He is survived by daughter, Eileen Roybal; sons, Steven Rubio, Andrew Rubio, Adrian Rubio, Joseph Rubio; and eight grandchildren all of Albuquerque, NM; mother, Rosalind Boatman of Gallup, NM; brothers, Rick Saraccino of Gallup, NM and Brian Halloway of Cucamonga, CA; sisters Glinda Sabala of Ontario, CA, Denise Campa of Cucamonga, CA and Bernadette Lujan of Gallup, NM. He was preceded in death by sister, Linda Alexander; grandson, Jeremy Rubio; and granddaughter, Madeline Rubio. Steve was born October 29, 1953 in Los Angeles, CA. The majority of his life was lived in Gallup, NM where he was well known as a superior craftsman and a master of his drywall trade. While drywall was his physical work, he will be most remembered for the life lessons regarding the importance of hard work and responsibility which he imparted upon all who knew him well.
