Andrews -- Gladys Andrews, 83, a resident of Albuquerque for the past nine years, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2000. Gladys was born September 5, 1916, the daughter of Theodore and Edna Clinton Dillon in Brooklyn, New York. She had been a waitress before retiring. Gladys was a member of the Meadowlark Senior Center and the Los Volcanes Senior Center. She is survived by her four children, Gerri Hanratty, Pat Trichter-Vita, Louise Fredrickson, and Roddy Christiansen; three granddaughters, Maureen, Jennifer, and Janine; and one great-grandson, Kevin. The service for Gladys will be on Monday, September 11, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Laurelview Convelesant Center, 5900 Forest Hills Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM. Batchelor -- Frank Batchelor, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, passed away on September 7, 2000. He was born March 28, 1915 in Duluth, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Helen (Hornbeck) Batchelor. He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Curran of Albuquerque Mr. Batchelor was a warehouseman, retiring first from Sandia National Labs in 1973, then from the Defense Nuclear Agency in 1979. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE. Interment in Fairview Memorial Park will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to First Presbyterian Church. Beeson -- Debbie Ann Barber-Besson, 46, born July 22, 1954, was a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2000. She was preceded in death by her mother, Coketta Jeffers. Debbie is survived by her husband, Kenneth (Animal) Beeson; sons, Troy E. Barber of Las Vegas, NV and Glen B. Barber; father, Virgil Jeffers; sisters, Kathleen Weidner, Linda Shaw of Denver, CO, Cynthia Mauzy of Edgewood; grandson, Garrett E. Barber of Shreveport, LA and many nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved and will miss her. She loved animals, playing bingo, and dancing. Her free will and compassionate spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Memorial services will be held at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2000. Bridenback -- Kevin Bridenback, a resident of Albuquerque, formerly a resident of Washington State, was born on May 29, 1975, and was tragically taken from us on September 3, 2000. Kevin is survived by his mother, Pam Bridenback; numerous friends and family in the Olympia, Washington area, and friends here in New Mexico. He will also be mourned by his military friends. Kevin will always be beloved and have a special place in the hearts of his patients and co-workers at Dialysis Center, Inc. He had a brilliant wit, was kind and gentle, and was deeply appreciated by those whose lives he touched. Kevin left behind many unfulfilled dreams and aspirations, and a very bright future. Funeral services to be arranged by his family in Washington State. A Memorial service will be held on September 7, 2000, 7:00 p.m., at St. Paul's Episcopal, NW corner of 19th and Golf Course Road, Rio Rancho. Brinkman -- Peggy Brinkman - August 24, 1953 to September 6, 2000. Survived by husband, Jim; and daughters, Shaina and Joy. Peggy lived her life from her heart. Peggy inspired in work and play. In Peggy's work and workshops, she always left people with an improved sense of self and a greater enthusiasm for life. She loved the earth and its elements; water (especially the beach); air (especially hot air balloons); animals; she loved most everything. Peggy was a perfect mother. Her daughter's needs, wants, and desires always came first. She loved her darlings with all her heart and soul. Peggy was a perfect wife. She did everything in her power to make her husband's life joyful and complete. She left her marriage with nothing unresolved. Peggy lived in the realm of magic and miracles, and love. God touched her every day. Peggy battled with cancer for more than eight years, always with courage. Until the day she died, everyone who visited Peggy to comfort her, was comforted. Everyone who prayed for her was blessed. Everyone who knew Peggy loved her. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. Contributions to the Presbyterian Hospice in Peggy's name are appreciated. The hospice provided miraculous support to Peggy and her loved ones during her final two weeks. They made the death process comforting and beautiful, and alleviated Peggy's and her husband's fear of death. Carvajal -- Anita L. Carvajal, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 8, 2000. She is survived by her sons, Bruce Carvajal and wife, Diane, Craig Carvajal, David Carvajal, Eliot Carvajal and wife, Yvonne and Dan Harris; grandchildren, Daniel and Catherine Carvajal; brother, Donald Rojas and wife, Cheryl. Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Carvajal in 1991. She began her career as a nurse anesthethist working at various hospitals in Albuquerque. Later, Anita joined her husband's law practice as a paralegal. She also helped as a substitute teacher for disabled students in the Albuquerque Public School system. Anita loved gardening, skiing, traveling, and cooking. She will be remembered as a vibrant person who was full of life. Cavalier -- The family of Mathew Cavalier wishes to extend a warm expression of appreciation to all of you who have demonstrated your support during the loss of our brother and son. Ferris -- David Ferris, 43, passed away on August 30, 2000 in San Diego, California. He is survived by his father, Joe Ferris; his brother, Michael Ferris; nephews, Brandon and Joey, all of Pueblo, CO and his brother, Matthew Ferris of Albuquerque. His mother, Irene Ferris preceded him in death. David was a graduate of Sandia High School, Class of 1975 and New Mexico State University. After leaving college, he began his career as a manager for various movie theaters in the Albuquerque area. He then left for California where he started his own very successful acting and modeling schools. He helped launch many careers from San Francisco to Los Angeles and San Diego. David was a wonderful and loving son, brother and friend. He will be missed by all. Harnar -- Robert R. Harnar, age 78, died peacefully at his home in Cedar Crest, NM on September 6, 2000 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Harda, India and moved to this area from Ohio in 1951. He retired in 1984 from Sandia National Labs and was last involved as the quality assurance project engineer on the S.N.A.P.S. generator, which was used on Apollo Moon Missions and later deep space probes. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. He was a member and Elder Emeritus at Sombra Del Monte Christian Church. Mr. Harnar was preceded in death by two sons, Robbie Harnar, Jr. in 1959 and Dr. Timothy J. Harnar in 1991; and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Harnar of the family home; a son, Jeff Harnar of Santa Fe; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Harnar of Albuquerque; a sister, Ruth Harnar of Indiana; and two brothers, Don Harnar of Florida and Dick Harnar of Indiana. Hopkins -- Louis Allen (Hoppy) Hopkins, Jr., 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946 died Wednesday, September 6, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 56 year, Mary Kate and B.J.; brother, Arthur S. Hopkins and wife, B. of Panama City, FL; and cousin, Rev. and Mrs. Paul Hopkins of Albuquerque. Mr. Hopkins was graduated from the University of Michigan in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. During WWII, Major Hopkins served in the Army Air Corps until 1945. He specialized in ground radar. He went on to complete his Masters in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1946. Mr. Hopkins began a career with Sandia National Laboratories in 1946 that spanned more than three decades. During these years, Mr. Hopkins held positions as Director of Engineering II, and directorships of Component Development, Manufacturing Development, Electromechanical and Chemical Component Development, Space Power Systems, and Development Testing. In 1974, he assumed the position of Technical Staff Director until his retirement in 1977. Mr. Hopkins was a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Tau Ti. He was also a member and former chairman of the Bernalillo County Planning and Zoning Commission, a member and former Vice-Chairman of the Bernalillo County Parks and Recreation Board, a member of the Council of Governments-Airport Advisory Committee, a member of the Corrales Fire Commission and a member and former Section Chairman of the IEEE. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2000, 11:00 a.m. at San Ysidro Catholic Church with Father Clarence Galli as Celebrant. He was preceded in death by his son, Gil Martinez, Jr. He is survived by his his wife of 64 years, Mary Jane Martinez; sons, Fred Martinez and his wife, Theresa, Frank Martinez and his wife, Arlene; daughter, Maria Martinez and friend Christine Carpenter all of Albuquerque; three brothers, Procopio Melardo and Pete Martinez and one sister, Lydia Romero; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of Albuquerque. Gil Martinez, a retired railroad worker was born in San Marcial, NM on March 2, 1915. He will be greatly missed and loved, but leaves behind a beautiful legacy for all of us to follow. A Mass will be celebrated for Mr. Martinez, Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited Monday, 5:30 p.m. at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. A visitation will take place Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

Mccarty -- Melrose S. McCarty, resident of Albuquerque for the past six years, passed away September 1, 2000. She was born in Walnut Grove, Mississippi, May 8, 1910. When she was around ten years old her family moved to Berino, NM. She attended Las Cruces High School and Montezuma Baptist School. She formerly was a resident of Graham, Texas. She loved cooking, gardening, fishing, kids, dogs, cats, and church activities. She is survived by her daughter, Anne E. Rowe of Albuquerque; her grandson, Duncan Duwane Philp of Ft. Collins, CO; sister, Earnestine Baumann of El Paso, TX; and her brother, Hubert M. Savelle of El Paso, TX. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Mckinley -- Ruth Willard McKinley, born on March 27, 1928, passed away September 3, 2000 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her three children, Anita Willard, Cindy Willard Roybal, and Steve Willard, along with her children's spouses, Bill Niendorff, Luis Roybal and Kim Willard. She leaves six grandchildren, Robin Willard Niendorff, Risa and Alegra Roybal and Eli, Teo and Schuyler Willard. Ruth moved to New Mexico in 1952 to work at the Espanola Hospital as a missionary nurse for the Methodist Church. She met and married Frank Willard Jr. in 1953, who predeceased her in death in 1986. She lived most of her life in Espanola then later moved to Belen and enjoyed the ranching life with her most recent husband, Wayne McKinley. Ruth was an active member of the Belen Baptist Church and volunteered for various programs such as literacy, Red Cross, domestic violence and participated in breast cancer support groups. Ruth was loved and admired for her thoughtfulness, generosity and wisdom. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life, as was traveling to faraway places. Meneses -- Victoria L. Meneses, 25, a resident of Albuquerque for 15 years, died Wednesday, September 6, 2000. She is survived by her mother, Ramona Meneses of Albuquerque; father, Temo Meneses of California; brother, David Meneses and wife, Rosa; and sister, Angelica Meneses, all of Albuquerque. Victoria was a very hard worker and was a father and mother to her kids. She dreamed of someday being a police officer, and always thought of others before herself. Victoria was very loyal to her work as an associate at Wal-Mart and was very friendly and courteous. She will be missed by all especially her children, John and Arlene Herrmann. Murray -- Barbara H. Murray, age 82, passed away September 9, 2000. She was born in Watertown, NY, in 1918, the daughter of Leo and Adeline Shea. Murtagh -- Margaret Mary (Peggy) Murtagh, 68, a resident of Albuquerque since 1989, died Saturday, September 8, 2000. Peggy was born October 17, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York and was the wife to the late John Joseph Murtagh, Jr. since September 7, 1952. She's the mother of five children, Patti and husband, Mel Rains, Anne Murtagh, Robert Murtagh all of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Michael Murtagh and Peggy, John Murtagh and Kelli of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She retired after 35 years of civil service to Federal Government in 1997. At Kirtland A.F.B. Peggy was a Resource Manager for AFOTEC and received numerous awards for outstanding contributions and meritorious service. Peggy also worked at Nellis AFB, Nevada for 15 years as a budget analyst. She is a lifetime member of the Association of Women Comptrollers. She was known for her dedication to her country throughout the military and civil service communities. Peggy devoted her life to God, her husband, and her family. As a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society. She also performed numerous hours of public service as a member of the Citizens Review Board for the City of Albuquerque and the Women's Auxillary of Disabled American Veterans. Peggy's lifetime adventures began as a flight attendant in the early days for American Airlines, 2nd runner up as Miss New York, and traveling world wide during her husbands 30 years of service with the Air Force. Before her passing, Peggy expressed her love and appreciation for all her friends, both new and old, her joy and gratefulness of a wonderful and fulfilling life. After a battle with cancer Peggy passed peacefully at home with family, friends and pets around her. Peggy and her family wish to thank Dr. Victor Vigil and staff, the nurses at St. Josephs Hospital 10th Floor, neighbors, friends, and co-workers for their prayers, thoughtfulness and kindness during this difficult time. Prentiss -- Deacon Richard Craig Prentiss, 67, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Wednesday, September 6, 2000. Dick Prentiss was born in Illinois on December 31, 1932, and raised in the Panama Canal Zone. In 1954 he graduated from Amherst College, Massachusetts, and entered the United States Air Force. As a career officer, he received notable recognition for distinguished service. He served in Vietnam. After 28 years he retired a Lt. Colonel. He was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe on June 6, 1986. Deacon Dick served as assistant to the chaplain at KAFB and was involved in numerous local and national community organizations. In 1999, he earned his Master of Arts in Theology from St. John's University, Minnesota. At the time of his death he was coordinating the Diaconate Foundation Program for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Mr. Prentiss is survived by his children, Claire M. Croft and husband, James of Virginia, Susan P. Prentiss-Kurosu of New Mexico, Jennifer F. Prentiss and husband, Robert Rivera of New Mexico, Stephen C. Prentiss and wife, Robin of Washington, Elizabeth J. Robbins and husband, Marvin of Arizona, Kathleen A. Arman and husband, John of Colorado, Lucy B. Prentiss of New Mexico; and their mother, Mary P. Prentiss; 19 grandchildren; sister Sally P. Sargent. Mr. Prentiss was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey & Kathleen Prentiss. Rosary will be recited on Monday, September 11, 10:00 a.m., preceding the mass. Romero -- Mr. Clyde I. Romero, 47, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 7, 2000. Mr. Romero is survived by two daughters, Genevieve Romero and Darlene Romero; the mother of his daughters, Irene Romero; his parents, Feliberto and Marcia Romero; his sister, Patsy Romero; four brothers, Fabian Romero and wife, Debbie, Ronald Romero, Stanley Romero and Peggy and Steve Romero and wife, Sydney; one niece, Celina Fernandez; two nephews, Julian and Quinton Romero. Rose -- Charlene (Schultzie) Rose-Luetjens, 56, died on Thursday, September 7, 2000 in Albuquerque. She was born in Chicago, IL and moved to Albuquerque 24 years ago, where she worked at Sandia National Labs. She is survived by her father, Erwin Rose of Albuquerque; two children, Patrick Luetjens and wife, Karen of Los Lunas, and Lisa Beggio and husband, Chris of Albuquerque; a brother, Donald O'Rourke of Harvard, IL; and three grandchildren, Christina and Patricia Luetjens, and Adam Beggio. She is also survived by a longtime companion, Walter Knapp of Navajo Dam, NM; and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends who will dearly miss her. Smith -- Sarah"Helen" Smith, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away early Thursday morning, September 7, 2000, at Presbyterian Hospital. She is survived by one brother, A.W. Smith of Santa Rosa; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn; two sisters, Fanny Guy and Faye Hamilton; and two brothers, Earl and Joe M. Smith II. She will be missed by all. Helen was born to Joseph M. and Athena Smith on January 12, 1911, in Guadalupe County, NM. She attended school in Guadalupe County and graduated from Santa Rosa High School. Helen and her husband, Lynn Smith, cultivated and established Clines Corners Restaurant and Service Station. Pre-deceased by her husband Lynn, Helen became an entrepreneur and enjoyed a seasonal home in Santa Barbara, CA, where she had many friends. In the latter part of her life, she returned to Albuquerque and retired where she abided for the rest of her life. Services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE, with Dr. Charles Crutchfield officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Storey -- Patrick"Pat" Storey, 61, passed away peacefully at his home in Belen, on September 9, 2000. Pat was well known in this area as owner and operator of Storey Insurance Agency and Del Rio Laundry. After retiring from the insurance business, he pursued his lifelong interest with the Storey Ranch, located at the Ladron Mountain foothills in Socorro County. Ranching and farming was his passion and he enjoyed spending time at his ranch with his cow; however, being with his four sons and five grandchildren was his first and foremost love. He was also a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, Belen Elks Lodge, and the Belen Moose Lodge. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Nestor and Antonia Storey. He is survived by his four sons, Vincent of Belen, Gil of Bosque, Leonard and his wife, Jossette of Plano, TX, and Chris of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, his very special grandson, Jacob Ray, along with Ryan, Naomi, Lindsey, and Kathryn; his life-long friend and former wife, Gloria Storey of Belen; two sisters, Frances Morrow and her husband, Bill and Susan Castillo and her husband, Max, all from Albuquerque; four brothers, Jim and his wife, Lou of Pecos, Charles and his wife, Sylvia of Bosque, Kenneth of Los Chavez, and Anthony of Belen. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation has taken place and at Pat's request, there will be no memorial service. Turner -- Irene Turner, 88, a resident of Albuquerque and Santa Fe since 1966, died on Wednesday, September 6, 2000. Mrs. Turner is survived by her two nieces, Rosemary Miles of Flagstaff, AZ and Gwendolyn Davis of Boulder, CO; grandniece, Karen Sue McCullough of Albuquerque; and longtime close friends, Kenneth Davis of Berryville, AR and Wanda Ivey of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by husband, E.A.ťBert Turner in 1985; and brother, John Kuchinskas. At the age of 21, Mrs. Turner was admitted to practice law in Illinois, where she practiced for many years. She later practiced before the U.S Supreme Court and was a part of the first group of women commissioned as a U.S. Navy officer during WWII. Mrs. Turner served mostly in the office of the Judge Advocate General while in the Navy. Service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2000, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Annunciation Church, 2532 Vermont NE, with Father Sam Falbo officiating.
