Baca -- Erlinda Baca passed away at the age of 42 on Sunday, May 20, 2001. Mrs. Baca was preceded in death by her loving husband of 27 years, Lawrence Baca; her grandson, Lawrence Baca III; and her mother Antonia Vigil. Erlinda is survived by her loving five children; two daughters, Maryann Baca and husband, Michael Sosa and Rose Baca and husband, Vance Chino; three sons, Lawrence Baca, Jr. and fiancÈe Danielle, Maragrito Baca and Seymour Baca; five wonderful grandchildren who she loved very much, Gabriel Baca, Martin Chino, Marisol Sosa, Michael Chino, and Angel Baca; five brothers; one sister; and many nieces and nephews. Mom we love you very much you will always be in our heart until we meet again your loving children. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Broadway and Pacific Streets, with Father Jose Farias, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Al Baca, Mike Baca, Johnny Sanchez, Elias Gallegos, Lonzo Lajensse and Gilbert Martinez. Otero -- Rumaldo (Rudy) Otero Jr., age 64, and a life long resident of New Mexico died Thursday, May 17, 2001 following an accident. Rudy is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Otero of Albuquerque; one son, Randall Otero and his wife, Monica of Albuquerque; one daughter, Sharon Minichiello and her husband, Wayne of Boulder, CO; his mother, Louisa Otero of Albuquerque; two sisters, Mela Perea of Los Lunas, and Lucy LaPort of CA. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Randi Nicole and Bradley Rey Otero, Alexandra, Michael, and Carly Minichiello. Mr. Otero was a member of the church of the risen Savior. He was a manager for Walgreen's for 21 years, and was also a Supervisor for the City of Albuquerque Parks & Recreation Community center division. Rudy devoted his life to his children, grandchildren and the children of Albuquerque. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, May 20, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday May 21, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at Risen Savior with Fr. Albert Gallegos Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The families prefer that donations be made to the Risen Savior Youth Programs, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE Albuquerque, NM 87109. Colson -- Christine M. Colson, 53, a lifetime resident of New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2001. Christine was born September 3, 1947 the daughter of Macario Christobal and Talpita Emilina Mondragon Trujillo in Taos, New Mexico. She had been a secretary for the Aeroparts company and was an active member of the Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque. Christine was preceded in death by her son Michael Willems in 1987 and her father, Macario Trujillo in 1997. She is survived by her husband, Joe Colson of Albuquerque; mother, Pita Trujillo of Albuquerque; daughter, Theresa Willems-Gallegos and husband, Robert; step-sons, Christopher Colson and wife, Holly and Bradley Colson all of Albuqeurque; sisters, Lucy Gallegos and husband, Johnny, Sr. Bernadette Lovato and husband, Leonard; brothers, Jake Trujillo and wife, Katherine, Herman Trujillo and wife, Celina, all of Albuquerque, Joseph Trujillo and wife, Dianne of Mechanicsville, VA; grandchildren, Deena and Michael Gallegos and Benjamin and Hailey Colson. Christine is remebered as an excellent, wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a"darn good" Keno player. Visitation will be held today, Friday, May 18, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with the Service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2001 in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho, with Pastor David Row officiating. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Oritz -- Ernest L. Ortiz, 52, passed away at home on Tuesday May 8, 2001. He served in the armed forces as a combat medic in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife Jessie Ortiz , two sons and one daughter Christopher Ortiz, Herman Ortiz and wife Dina , and Andrea Gallegos . Seven grandchildren , Zachary, Brianna, Damian, Alexis, Isacc, Santana and Adrain. His father Arthur Ortiz , three brothers and two sisters; Albert Ortiz and wife Sadie, Arthur and wife Rose, Johnny, Lupe and husband Vincent Alice and husband Elmer. Numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Visitations will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday in the Stover Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at St. Therese Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning at St. Therese Catholic Church. Martinez -- Leroy Elbert Martinez, 55, a lifetime resident of the Albuquerque area, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2001 following a short illness. Leroy was born May 13, 1945 the son of Andres and Celsa M. Martinez in Corrales, New Mexico. Leroy had been working for the Isleta Casino before his death. Leroy is survived by his mother, Celsa Martinez of Corrales, NM; two brothers, Andres and Wilfred Martinez; one aunt, Rupe Gallegos; and several nieces. Thorson -- Ted Thorson, 73, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2001 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His parents were Mary Ellen Garrett and Playford V. Thorson. Thorson attended the public schools of Roswell, NM, Houston and Sweetwater, Texas where he finished High School in 1946. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Mexico and a Master's Degree from Webster University in Illinois. Ted served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1977, with a tour of duty in Japan and three tours in Southeast Asia, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Preceding him in death was his wife, Anabel Hughes Thorson and his parents. Surviving him are his wife, Layed Thorson of Albuquerque; two brothers, Stephen B. Thorson and wife, Billi Teal of Garden City, Kansas and Playford V. Thorson Jr. and wife, Harriet of Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is also survived by a daughter, Linda Thorson; and a grandson, Anthony Gallegos; a son, Gregory Hughes Thorson and wife, Dottie of Sandy, Oregon; and two daughters, Sherylyn Gay Thorson of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Maryly Charles of Pasadena, California. Grandchildren from his first marriage are Ryan, Mark and Michelle Thorson, Jessica and Jacob Charles. He was admired and loved by those who knew him. We shall miss him. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2001, 1:30 p.m. at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul NE, with Sherylyn Gay Thorson and Sunthorn Janthawong, officiating. Gallegos -- Manuel P. "Sugar Loaf" Gallegos, 74, an area resident since 1935, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Connie Gallegos of Los Lunas; sons, Joe Gallegos and wife Lorraine, Paul Gallegos and wife, Isabel, Richard Gallegos and friend, Barbara Vigil, Michael Gallegos and wife, Roberta, all of Albuquerque and Bernie Gallegos and wife, Isabel of Los Lunas; daughters, Margaret Martinez and husband, Mike and Lorraine Sena and husband, Sammy of Los Lunas; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-laws, Lalo Perea and Johnnie Perea and wife, Bernadette, both of Albuquerque, Herman Perea and wife, Rachel and Ruben Perea, both of Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-laws, Ruth Rivera and husband, Ralph of Barstow, CA, Jessie Luna of Salt Lake City, UT and Agnes Garcia of Alamogordo, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Gallegos retired as a plumber after working with APS for 23 years. He also worked for Kinney Brick Co. for 12 years. Mr. and Mrs. Gallegos celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 5. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Dewey Johnson. Cremation will follow service. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Friday, 9:00 a.m. until service time.
