Vasquez -- Mrs. Adela H. Vasquez, 78, a resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away on August 16, 2001 with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Vasquez is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Mr. Jose Vasquez; ten daughters, Jane Quezada and husband, Noel, Elena Luna and husband, Freddie, Mary Huskey and husband, Ken, Cecilia Rubi and Jim Mitchem and Cecilia's ex-husband, Raymond Rubi; Paublita Saenz and husband, Elardio, Porfiria Sedillo and husband, Eugene, Rosemary Duran and husband, Martin, Jessie Washburn and husband, Bill, Sylvia Sedillo and husband, Ted, Margie Vasquez and Michael Aragon; four sons, Moises Vasquez and wife, Lilly, Cesar Vasquez, Albert Vasquez and Edwin Vasquez; 33 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Vasquez was preceded in death by her son, Ray Vasquez; her granddaughters, Donna Gonzales and Casandra Sedillo; her great-grandsons, Johnny Ray Garcia and Matthew Gene Garcia. Mrs. Vasquez was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 4:00 p.m. by Mrs. Martha Herrera. Final visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, NM by Father Albert Gallegos. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sedillo, Fidel Garcia, Paul Luna, Raxmond Rubi Jr., Larry Saenz and Christopher Sedillo. Gabaldon Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Aragon -- Jessica Marie Aragon died Wednesday, August 15, 2001 in Albuquerque at the age of 23. She is preceded in death by her boyfriend, Christopher Sena. She is survived by her daughter, Mercedes Sena; and her son, Christopher Sena; mother, Bernice Aragon; brother, Ray C. De La Cruz; grandparents, Audelia and Lorenzo Chavez; uncles, Johnny and Jimmy Aragon. Jessica will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. A special thanks and appreciation to Jessica's grandparents, Audelia and Lorenzo Chavez and to her uncle, Johnny Aragon.

Le Doux -- Eloy Le Doux, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Agnes Le Doux of Albuquerque; daughters, Linda Jordan and husband, Gary of Las Cruces and Anita Valerio and husband, Paul of Albuquerque; son, Chris Le Doux and wife, Lisa of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Rachel Valerio; and brothers, Xavier Le Doux of Raton, Frank Le Doux of Estes Park, CO, Fred Le Doux of Los Alamos, Johnny Le Doux of Hemet, CA and Bob Le Doux of Corona, CA. Mr. Le Doux was a Veteran of the US Army serving in WWII and a lifetime member of D.A.V. Chapter 3. He was also a member of Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church. Mr. Le Doux retired from the US Postal Service after a faithful 33 years. He was an avid golfer. Rosary will be recited Thursday, August 16, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with the Marionites reciting. Newborn -- Melvin Newborn, 53, a resident of Grants died, Monday, August 13, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Bobbie Newborn of Grants; sons, Sheldon Eric Allen and Trever T. Allen and wife, Tanner; daughters, Maronda Chenault and husband, Daniel and Jeanean Newborn; eleven grandchildren; brothers, Joe Elliot Newborn of New York and Johnny Nelson; sisters, Lillie B. McClellean and Betty Joe Newborn all of Tennessee; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Milan. Melvin started his Christian walk in 1990 at the God's House Church in Albuquerque. He was very active in the prison ministry where he ministered to prisoners. He was also active in ministering in many churches in New Mexico. He grew up in Bolivar, TN until he graduated High School and moved to New York where he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country for 5 years. He moved to New Mexico in 1976 and in 1993 he and his wife opened Melvins Barbeque in Gallup, NM where he enjoyed working with the people and serving them. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Friends may visit French Mortuary-Westside, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW, Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Saturday at Jones Groves Baptist Church in Hickory Valley, Tennessee. Interment will take place at Jones Grove Cemetery.

Eaves -- J.W. Eaves, prominent and well-known owner of the J.W. Eaves Movie Ranch, died on August 8, 2001 in Albuquerque after a valiant struggle against lung cancer. One of six children, Eaves was born April 7, 1916 in Groveton, TX to William Roscoe and Bertie Christie Eaves. Named for the heavy-weight boxer, Jesse Willard, Eaves preferred to be called by his initials. He was a direct descendent of Captain Jon Eves who arrived in Lyn Haven, upon the Chesapeian Shore of the Virginia Colony around 1632. Eaves was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ermalea Julia Eaves in 1998; his sisters, Lora and Marjorie; and his brother, Joe. Eaves began working as a teenager in the famous East Texas oil field at Kilgore, TX in 1935 where he attended Kilgore High School and met and married his wife, Ermalea Julia Kendrick. During World War II, they lived in Grayville, IL were Eaves managed the R.L. Jeffries Trucking Company and oversaw the operation of oil field trucks in southern Illinois and Indiana. In 1948, J.W. and Ermalea moved to Hobbs, NM where along with his brother, Harry, he founded and owned Jeffries-Eaves Trucking Company, an oil field and heavy hauling company. In 1955, the Eaves family moved to Albuquerque to open a new office for the rapidly growing company. Eventually, Jeffries-Eaves operated 150 trucks in 22 states and had offices in Hobbs, Albuquerque, and Farmington. In Albuquerque, Eaves was a charter member of the Albuquerque Petroleum Club and was a member of the Albuquerque Country Club. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. In 1958, Eaves bought"Rancho Alegre" south of Santa Fe. Beginning in the early 1960's many television and motion picture productions as well as commercials were filmed at the ranch and Eaves began to play an influential role in establishing the movie industry in New Mexico. The first production at the ranch was the CBS television series"Empire" starring Richard Egan and Terry Moore. Movies which followed were"Red Sky at Morning" starring Richard Thomas,"Where Angels Go Trouble Follows" and it's sequel,"The Trouble with Angles" starring Robert Taylor, Rosalind Russell, Van Johnson, and Stella Stevens. In 1969, in collaboration with dancer-director, Gene Kelly, Eaves built the western movie town for the filming of"The Cheyenne Social Club" which starred Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda. Since then, the western town has been the location for more than 40 feature length movies in the Santa Fe area including,"Lonesome Dove" starring Robert Duvall,"The Gunfight" with Kirk Douglas and Johnny Cash,"Wyatt Earp" with Kevin Costner and"The Cowboys" starring John Wayne. In recent years, the J.W. Eaves Movie Ranch has been the wild west venue for many large corporate parties, fund-raisers such as the Buckaroo Ball, private parties, weddings, and political events. In the early 1970s, J.W. Eaves was one of the original founders and the President of Santa Fe Downs Race Track. He also founded and owned the Rancho Alegre residential subdivision in Santa Fe County. He was a former Grand Marshall of the Rodeo de Santa Fe Parade. Eaves served as Chairman of the Lea County Democratic Party and as a member of the New Mexico State Police Commission. He remained an avid supporter of Democratic candidates (and occasionally a Republican) throughout his life and counted among his friends, Senators Dennis Chavez, Joe Montoya and Jeff Bingaman; Governors, John Burroughs, John Simms, Jack Campbell, Bruce King and David Cargo; and Congressmen, Tom Morris, Johnny Walker, Bill Richardson and Tom Udall. Former State Senator, Lt. Governor and Chief Justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court, Mack Easley and his wife, Loyce have been special life long friends since his early days in Hobbs. J.W. Eaves's"larger than life" personality will be greatly missed by his loving family. He was especially blessed with the love and companionship of his lady, Pamela Vanway in the last two and a half years of his life. He is survived by and much loved by his son, Mel Eaves and wife, Mary Ann of Albuquerque; grandson, Craig Eaves also of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Jessica Eaves of Seattle, WA; great-grandson and namesake, Jesse Kendrick Eaves of Albuquerque.
