Alberti -- Teresa "Terry" Alberti, 74, a resident of Albuquerque for 31 years, died Wednesday, August 15, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Joseph R. Alberti; sons, Richard Alberti and wife, Mary, William Alberti and Russell Alberti and wife, Julie, all of Albuquerque; brother, Thomas Testa of Chandler, AZ; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and dearest friends, Alice Gatz and Ceclia Kosar. Mrs. Alberti was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Teresa will always be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit and friendly disposition. She graduated from Richmond School of Journalism in Manhattan, NY. Later, she was a co-owner of two businesses, The Far West Club and Chase Hardware. Mrs. Alberti was a lover of animals, who contributed to the Animal Humane Association and took many stray pets into her home. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, going to the theater, dancing and watching movies with her husband. Above all, Teresa was devoted to caring for others, especially her family. Mrs. Alberti was happily married for 53 years to her life's love whom she affectionately called ¯Buster.¯ She was the heart of her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 1:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Father Francis Malley, Celebrant. Cremation will follow Mass. Pallbearers will be Joseph W. Aragon -- Bernice Miera Aragon, a lifetime resident and business woman of Socorro, NM, passed away suddenly Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at Thomason Hospital in El Paso, TX. She was born in San Antonio, NM to J.E. and Theresa (Zimmerly) Miera. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Maurice; two sisters, Alice and Odelia. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Christian Aragon of their home in Socorro, NM; two daughters, Ina Walton and husband, Frank of Brentwood, CA and Betty Easley and husband, Jesse of Socorro; grandchildren, Kaye Green, Ron Giron, Maxine Muncy, Pam Boldstad, Sandy Reid, Russell Giron, and Francine Simone; great-grandchildren, Dona Hall, Amber Giron, Venicia Ferguson, Cory Muncy, Patrick Green, Alicia Green, Nathan Giron and Megan Simone; great-great-grandchildren, Gabriele, Brianna and Elizabeth Hall; also many nieces and nephews. She was "Auntie Benny" to her many friends. Rosary will be recited on Friday, August 17, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 18, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father Edward Domme as Celebrant. Interment will be in the San Antonio, NM Cemetery. Benavides -- Guadalupe Benavides, 97, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Lemitar, NM on April 24, 1904. Mrs. Benavides lived in Socorro for 35 years. She has lived in Albuquerque since 1972. Mrs. Benavides was preceded in death by her husband, G. L. Benavides; and son, Paul Benavides. She is survived by a son, Bennie Benavides and wife, Flora of Arizona; six daughters, Flora Minneti of California, Marcella Padilla and husband, Eustacio of Albuquerque, Lillie Yuzbick and husband, Roy of Albuquerque, Barbara Ferrari and husband, Reed of Gallup, Sophie Canfield of Texas, Ponsella Janet and husband, David of Georgia; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Benavides was a loving mother who not only raised her children but also some of her grandchildren. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Carabajal -- Rafelita Carabajal, 69, a lifelong resident of Bernalillo, NM., passed on peacefully in the hands of her loving family August 14, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Carabajal; brother, Raymond Morales; and great-grandson, Marcelino Macias. Darnell -- Clarence (Casey) Elsworth Darnell a New Mexico legend in the horse world died Friday, August 10, 2001 in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Blair; children, Kristin Schmitt and husband, Patrick of Columbus, North Carolina, Cliff Darnell and wife, Cindy of Jones, Oklahoma, Emily Darnell-Nunez and husband, Joe Bob Nunez of Corrales, NM, Mary Brett Darnell of Corrales, NM. Children from a previous marriage, Eugene Darnell from Santa Fe, NM and Ray Darnell and wife, Elaine of Mountainair, NM. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild will miss him terribly. He is also survived by his brother, Dan Darnell of Sierra Vista, AZ; his sisters, Dorothy Button of Reno, Nevada, and Sally Richards and husband, James F. of Portal, Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews and people who loved Casey. He was preceded in death by his son from a previous marriage, Don Darnell of El Paso, Texas and his brother, Fred Darnell of Animas, NM. A Memorial Service will be held at the NM State Fairgrounds August 25, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. A private burial will be held in Apache, Arizona at a later date. Dittmer -- Howard J. Dittmer, 91, born in Perkin, Illinois on January 29, 1910. He was married on June 28, 1941 to Lois Andersen. He is survived by his wife, Lois A. Dittmer; daughter, Deborah Ann Dittmer; and nephew, Tom Dittmer. Mr. Dittmer graduated from the University of New Mexico, B.A., 1933; M.S., 1934, University of Iowa, Ph.D., 1938. He taught Dubuque University, Chicago Teachers College, University of New Mexico, 1943-1975 as a Professor of Biology and Associate Dean, of Arts and Sciences. He was a member of American Association for the Advancement of Science, and served as President in 1968 of the Southwest and Rocky Mountain Division, New Mexico Academy of Science, President in 1972 and voted Distinguished Scientist of the year 1973. He was a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Sigma, Botanical Society of America, Ecological Society of America, Southwestern Naturalist Society, People's Populations Reference Bureau, Wildlife Federation of America, American Association of University Professors, Albuquerque Rotary as a Paul Harris Fellow, Masons and Lovelace Medical Advisory Board. Throughout his career he Authored six Botanical books including three college textbooks, used in over 250 Universities, and was published in over 80 Scientific Papers, that have been translated into several Foreign Languages. Eddingfield -- Kenneth R. "Buzz" Eddingfield, Sr., 61, a resident of Albuquerque died, Tuesday, August 14, 2001 born to Claude LeRoy and Thelma Elizabeth Edingfield on November 27, 1939 in Carnegie, OK. He married Shirley Ann Blea on June 8, 1962. He was active in sports and played semi-pro Ball for many years. Buzz worked in the grocery business most of his adult life and had many accomplishments in this industry. He believed in his family integrity and cherished his beloved wife, daughters, sons, grandchildren and family with all his heart and will be missed by all. He is survived by his daughters, Jeanette Killgore of Marlow, OK and Kim of Dallas, TX; sons, Kenneth Jr., Kevin and wife, Monica of Las Vegas, Roger, Jr., and wife, Abigail of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Katrina and husband, Keith Williams of Dallas, TX, Kristen and Kurtis, Desiree Killgore of Marlow, OK and Brian of Las Vegas; great-grandchildren, Nathanael and Ezekiel Eddingfield of Albuquerque; siblings, Jacob and wife, Freda of Oklahoma City, Donald of Witchita, KS, Ronald and Karen of Sacramento, CA and Rita and Gale Evans of Carnegie, OK; sister-in-law, Janey Pease of Hydro, OK; and a host of nieces and nephews. Gonzales -- Eloisa Gonzales passed away August 14, 2001 after a fruitful life. She was a great mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. We will miss her. Griego -- Erlinda Griego, 52, was born June 19, 1949 to Santa Cruz and Rosela Griego in Soccoro, New Mexico. She worked at the Los Lunas Training School and Hospital School for 15 years and she also worked as a state employee. She had many friends whom she liked to go dancing with. She was preceded in death by her parents, Santa Cruz and Rosela Griego; and one brother, Louie Griego. Erlinda is survived by her only son, Michael M. Griego and his wife, Bobbie; her four brothers, Martin"Oscar" Griego, Vicente Griego, Alex Griego, and John Griego; her two sisters, Cruzita Griego and Marie Jaramillo; and two precious grandchildren, Morgan and Michael Griego. She is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Erlinda will be missed dearly by all who loved her. A Visitation will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at Romero Funeral Home. Jones -- Opal L. Jones, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1942, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Hanson and husband, George of Pearblossom, CA and Charlotte Moritomo and husband, James of Albuquerque; daughter-in-law, Faye Jones of Albuquerque; sister, Roma Eschliman of Claremore, OK; brother-in-law, Carroll Jones of Oceanside, CA; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Jones in January 1980 and son, Clinton Jones in March 2001. Mrs. Jones was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She was a businesswoman whom, with her husband, Delbert, owned a teacher placement agency. Mrs. Jones was a past member of Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid swimmer and hiker and loved the outdoors. The Jones¯ went camping every summer, enjoying all of the 50 states. Kreamer -- George Kreamer, 61 a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 16, 2001. Mr. Kreamer is survived by his six loving children, Vincent Kreamer and wife, Bridget, Vicki and Dave Mikolajczak, Valerie Flores and husband, Manuel, George Kreamer Jr. and wife, Cheryl, Mark Kreamer and Daniel Kreamer and Charlene Ruiz; the mother of his children, Jennie North; seven sisters, Mela Ulibarri and husband, Epi, Alvita Garcia and husband, Nestor, Marina Maldonado and husband, Leroy, Mary Jaramillo and husband, Gilbert, Martha Sandoval, Rose Sandoval and Rosie Rico and husband, Joe; one brother, Rudy Kreamer; nine grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Kreamer is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Juliana Flores; a brother, Ernie Sandoval; and a brother-in-law, Joe Sandoval. Mr. Kreamer was a member of the Catholic Church. Luksich -- John G. Luksich, former University of New Mexico football great of another era, passed away on June 26, 2001 in Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beaver, PA. Born June 19, 1914 in Indiana, PA, the son of the late Ivan and Mary Ashenbrenner Luksich. He was a member of the Saint Blaise Parish Family in Midland, PA. He is survived by brother, Joe; and sister-in-law, Minnie Luksich of Fontana, CA. and special loving friends, Larry Felicetti, George Milkovich, Cactus Ed Klein, Bill Thompson, Phil Wiegel, Lou Attel, Mickey Miller, Joe Behl, and teammates and some fraternity brothers, (Kappa Alpha), plus Lou and Toni Vassallo of Industry, PA. who tended and cared for him during his illness; and his dear traveling buddy, Patricia Hibbs; these and many others too many to mention. He will also be remembered for his generous donations to UNM, initiating the endowment program for the Alumni Lettermen's Association and the Scholarship Endowment to the Lobo Club's Football Program. He was an outstanding athlete at the University of New Mexico. He was named to the All Border Conference First Team in 1940 and 1941. In 1998, he was inducted into the University of New Mexico's Hall of Honor. In addition to being a great athlete, Luke was also an honor student. In 1941 and 1942, he was selected to appear in the edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, an honor given only to those who have the outstanding qualifications of character, scholarship, leadership and the promise of usefulness to business and society in later life. He lived up to this promise culminating 43 years of service with Crucible Steel in Midland, PA. as a chemical analyst. One of his many accomplishments was refining the performance of the ball bearing, a major industrial achievement. He was also honored by the Alumni Lettermen, with Bub Henry's effort, dedicating the Foyer at Hodgin Hall in Honor of John G."Luke" Luksich. He was a loyal church member, never missing Mass on Saturdays. It came natural to him to show goodness and loving kindness to all of his fellowmen. He will be missed by all of us who became better people for having known him. He truly was a unique human being.

Ortiz -- Candido "Candy" Ortiz, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Maria Ursula Lucero Ortiz of Albuquerque; daughters, Mary Reeder of Lakewood, CO, Belinda Crosby and husband, Robert, Carol Schuster and husband, Gary, all of Albuquerque; son, Don Jose Ortiz of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Daniel Reeder of Denver, CO, Deborah Ellison of Lakewood, CO, Bryan Crosby of Lauderdale, MS, Carleen Shannon and Kerri Schuster, both of Albuquerque; Scott Schuster of Chicago, IL, and Steven Schuster of Las Cruces, NM; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Candido Ortiz; mother, Carlotta Ellison Ortiz; and sisters, Veneranda and Frances Ortiz. Candido served as a Captain in the Army Air Force during WWII and Colonel Aide-de-Camp for the NM National Guard. He worked for many years as an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service and later retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1967. He also retired from the Screen Actors Guild after filming a part in a Tetley Tea Commercial. His interests included playing pool at the Highland Senior Citizen Center and ushering at Our Lady of Fatima Church. His dry wit and great sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Rushing -- Jeffrey Anthony Rushing. Jeff was born to Lucia and Wylie Rushing in Santa Fe, NM on March 3, 1957. Following their move to Albuquerque in 1971, Jeff graduated from Eldorado High School in 1975. He attended UNM and developed his career in the Arcade and game business. During his life, Jeff established several long friendships which endured until the end of his life on July 3, 2001. For the unconditional friendship and support they extended during the last months of his life, the family will always be grateful. Jeff is survived by brothers, Steve and wife, Gerri, Sam and wife, Rita; and nephews, Mark and Aaron. Vallegos -- Salomon J. Vallejos, 47, a resident of Adelino, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness on August 15, 2001. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Anthony in 1977; his parents, Adolfo Vallejos in 1985 and Lucy Vallejos in 1999; and his brother, Milton Vallejos in 1991. Salomon is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Patsy Vallejos; daughter, Yvonne Vallejos and her fiancé, Julian Armijo; son, Rudolfo Vallejos and his fiancée, Monique Martinez; three grandsons; one granddaughter; three brothers, Larry Vallejos and his wife, Vicki from Albuquerque, Leroy Vallejos, and Joseph Vallejos and his wife, Renee all from Adelino; three sisters, Amy Montano and her husband, Andy from Los Chavez, Mary Lou Montano and her husband, JR.; and Patricia Padilla and her husband, Carmelito all from Albuquerque; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his Godmother, Mela Jaramillo. He is also survived by his mother and father- in-law, Emilio and Sefy Perea; and many other loving-in-laws. A Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2001 at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. in the San Isidro Catholic Church, Pueblitos, NM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at the Christian Fellowship with Interment following in the Tome Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leroy Jr., Isaac and Jesse Vallejos, Dominic Padilla, Daniel Marquez and Carlos Perea. Honorary Pallbearers will be Toby Barela Michael and Nicholas Vallejos, Gabriel Padilla, Emiliano and Anthony Marquez, Leon Garcia and Josh Perea. Romero Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Wheaton -- Anne Wheaton, 81, a 56 year resident of New Mexico, died Wednesday, August 15, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ernest A. Wheaton of Albuquerque; son, Howard Wheaton and wife, Loretta of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda Crooks and husband, Louis of Albuquerque; son, Ted Wheaton and wife, Rose of Albuquerque; daughter, Karleen Boggio Montgomery and husband, Ed of Santa Fe; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Wylie of Waverly, OH. Mrs. Wheaton was born in Cambridge, OH and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, where she met her future husband, Ernest A. Wheaton. They were married on June 17, 1945 and spent their entire married life in the Los Alamos and Santa Fe areas. She not only raised her family, but also worked in the New Mexico Department of Insurance as a Deputy Superintendent until her retirement in 1985. Mrs. Wheaton loved taking care of her daffodils and was also an avid reader. She was a beloved wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Wheaton was a member of the American Legion Post in Los Alamos and Santa Fe, First Presbyterian Church in Santa Fe and several insurance related organizations. Services will be held Monday, August 20, 2001, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor Don Wilson officiating. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Yearout -- Allen Eugene Yearout, 45, died July 31, 2001. Allen was born in Albuquerque on June 24, 1956, but his family moved to California when he was a small boy and he grew up in Pleasanton and Loomis. He loved the outdoors and animals, and enjoyed a successful career as a marine mechanic. Survivors include his father, and spouse, Donald E. and Pinky Yearout of Bay Point, CA; brother, Russ Yearout of Vancouver, WA; grandmother, Margaret Traugh of Loomis; uncles, Arthur Traugh of Sacramento and Paul Traugh of St. Paul, MN; and numerous Yearout relatives in Albuquerque. Funeral Services were held at the Loomis Basin Congregational Church of Christ in Loomis on August 4, 2001.
