BRIN -- Ruth Firestone Brin, 88, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, died September 30, 2009, she was the beloved wife of the late Howard Brin; mother of Judith Brin Ingber (Jerome), Aaron (Harriet), David (David), Rabbi Deborah Brin (Yael); grandmother of Noah and Shai Ingber (Melissa); and great-grandmother of Sasha Juliana Ingber; brother-in-law, Charles Brin (Beryl); and many nieces, nephews and friends across many generations. Ruth was a well known author of 13 published books including, poetry, non-fiction, a memoir, children's books and a novel, published when she was 85. For 35 years she reviewed books for the Star Tribune, and recently for the American Jewish World. Ruth's poetic interpretation of Biblical texts and ancient prayers made them relevant and accessible for our lives today. A ground breaking poet whose woman's voice was crucial to creating space for women in the traditional Jewish contexts, she led the way in liberal Jewish movements. A nationally known liturgist in the Jewish world, it is difficult to find a Reform, Conservative, or Reconstructionist prayer book or anthology that does not include her writings. Ruth grew up in St. Paul, graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Vassar College and received a master's degree from the U of M. Gifts can be given to, The Howard B. SALAS -- George N. Salas, 85, born May 2, 1924, passed away Thursday October 1, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife Ofelia Salas; children Irene Spice and husband James, Olivia Sandoval, Lillian Palacio and husband Charles, Anita Soto and husband Robert, Adelaida Salas; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was loved by his family and will be deeply missed by all.

LA GRANGE -- Richard A. La Grange SSGT USMC Ret. October 23, 1958 - September 28, 2009 Richard A. La Grange beloved Son, Father, Brother, Uncle and Grandfather was greeted by his brother Frank and our Heavenly Father as he suddenly passed away Monday, September 28th, 2009. He was a life long resident of Albuquerque. Richard served 20 years in the United States Marine Corp and served our country in Operation Desert Storm, his specialties were Reconnaissance, Rifleman, Parachute jumper and Scuba. He was loved by his family and will be deeply missed. Richard is survived by his loving parents Dolores and Eddie Garcia; his children, Richard Eric and wife Vanessa, Melissa Suzanne and husband Darryl; grandchildren, Rashaun, Isaiah, Audrey and Natalie; brothers, Edward Garcia and Chris Garcia; sisters Edwina LaGrange, Ancilla Quintana, Yvonne Montano and husband Mike, Lupe Chavez and husband Charles; his sweetheart Christina Bryant; special Aunt Frances Morales; nephews, John Christopher Quintana, Michael Montano, Eddie Garcia, Frank Quintana, Daniel Quintana and Frank Angelo Quintana: nieces Gabrielle, Sophia Montano, Makaila Quintana, Emilee Chavez and Brooklyn Garcia and many more family and friends. FORQUER -- Timothy Joseph Forquer passed away on September 12, 2009 at home in the presence of family and friends in Santa Fe, New Mexico after a short but valiant battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. Tim, born July 16, 1940, was a loving husband and brother, devoted father and doting grandfather. He is survived by his wife Sandra of 43 years, his daughters Beth and son-in-law Chris Ruch from San Diego, CA, and Bonnie and son-in-law Rob Strickland, from Gunnison, CO, granddaughters Molly and Emma Strickland and brothers Russell, Harold, Paul and Charles Forquer. A graduate of Erie Cathedral Prep in 1958, he also graduated with a BSEE from Gannon University in Erie, PA. in 1964. Tim was an electrical engineer with Westinghouse Research and Development Center and Compunetics in Pittsburgh, PA; a sonar and radar engineer with RCA in Moorestown, NJ and with General Electric and Lockheed Martin in Syracuse, NY. Upon retirement, Tim was an instructor of Information Technology at Everest College in Colorado Springs, CO. A volunteer with the American Cancer Society, Tim was known for his tireless generosity, kindness, gentleness, humor and wisdom. He was and will always be, adored by all whose lives he touched. GONZALES -- Bentura Gonzales, 82, went to be with our Lord on Saturday morning, September 26, 2009. He passed away from complications after suffering a severe stroke. Bentura's wife Pauline of 58 years of marriage, preceded him in death. Bentura was born May 8, 1927 and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. He served in the US Army in Europe during World War II. Bentura is survived by 11 children: Mary Ann Dominguez and husband Michael, Michael Gonzales and wife Theresa of Barstow CA, Charles Gonzales and wife Joann, Margaret Bailey and husband James, Danny Gonzales and wife Lori of Los Lunas, Diane Lucero, Johnny Gonzales and wife Loretta, Martha Harris and husband David, Rochelle Gonzales, Michelle Gonzales, and Roberta Gonzales; 17 grandchildren: Sabrina Dominguez, Patrick Dominguez, Matthew Gonzales of Redondo Beach CA, Rebecca Gonzales of Long Beach CA, Theresa Gonzales, Steven Gonzales, Tina Gonzales, Rachel Lucero, Chris Gonzales, Richard Gonzales, Angela Gonzales, Raymond Lucero, Janelle Olguin, Danielle Olguin, Stephanie Gonzales, Anthony Gonzales, Valerie Gonzales, Evan Gonzales; eight great grandchildren: Samuel, Serina, Ariel, Patricia, Genesis, Abbygail, Dalyce and Estevan Jr. Bentura was loved very much and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. MCMAHAN -- Verena Catherine McMahan peacefully passed away at her home in Albuquerque on Sunday, September 27, 2009. She was 96 years old. Verena is survived by her ten children: Helen Guzman of Rio Rancho, NM, John Charles McMahan of Buffalo, WY, William McMahan of Rock Springs, WY, Constance Fabry of Omaha, NE, Margaret Aho of Pocatello, ID, Thomas McMahan of Greely, CO, Mary Elizabeth Stowe of Kansas City, MO, Teresa Gracheck of Albuquerque, Monica Coan of Albuquerque, and Christopher McMahan of Albuquerque. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Verena was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, John Wood McMahan; her dear granddaughter, Cristina Guzman; and by her two brothers, Ralph Asman and Arnold Asman; and her two sisters, Sybil Roth and Florence Asman. Verena will be remembered as a deeply loving, kind, charitable and patient woman, who constantly gave of herself and sacrificed for her family, friends and neighbors. She was a devoted Catholic and member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and the Third Order of St. Francis for over 50 years. She inspired so many by her example and was a tremendous source of strength and faith for those who knew her. Viewing will be one hour prior to rosary. LUSK -- Kathleen Ison Lusk, born in Portales, New Mexico February 17, 1925 to Charles and Ruth Ison, passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico September 26, 2009 at age 84. She was married to Julian Dennis (J.D.) Lusk on July 2, 1940. Kathleen was a housewife and mother of five children. In the 1970s, she became a Clovis Realtor until the early 1990s. The last living of 11 siblings, Kathleen is survived by her children Dennis and Pam Lusk of Albuquerque, Mike and Anna Lusk of Clovis, Tim and Jerri Lusk of Denver, Robin and Bill Thomas of Amarillo, and Roger and Brande Lusk of Tucson; and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, 1601 E. Llano Estacado, Clovis. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Juvenile Diabetes Research foundation International would be welcome.
