Obituary for MCMAHAN

Verena Catherine McMahan peacefully passed away at her home in Albuquerque on Sunday, September 27, 2009. She was 96 years old. Verena is survived by her ten children: Helen Guzman of Rio Rancho, NM, John Charles McMahan of Buffalo, WY, William McMahan of Rock Springs, WY, Constance Fabry of Omaha, NE, Margaret Aho of Pocatello, ID, Thomas McMahan of Greely, CO, Mary Elizabeth Stowe of Kansas City, MO, Teresa Gracheck of Albuquerque, Monica Coan of Albuquerque, and Christopher McMahan of Albuquerque. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Verena was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, John Wood McMahan; her dear granddaughter, Cristina Guzman; and by her two brothers, Ralph Asman and Arnold Asman; and her two sisters, Sybil Roth and Florence Asman. Verena will be remembered as a deeply loving, kind, charitable and patient woman, who constantly gave of herself and sacrificed for her family, friends and neighbors. She was a devoted Catholic and member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and the Third Order of St. Francis for over 50 years. She inspired so many by her example and was a tremendous source of strength and faith for those who knew her. Viewing will be one hour prior to rosary. A rosary will be prayed on Thursday, October 1, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd., NE, Albuquerque, NM. Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Friday, October 2, 2009, 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony Third Order Fraternity, P. O.
