GONZALES -- Gertrude Gonzales, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her home with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Gonzales is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Vito Gonzales; children, Maxine Gonzales and husband, Rudy, Georgia Lujan and husband, Sammy, Ruby Apodaca and husband, Johnny, Debra Saiz and husband, Jerry, Cindy Chavez, Liz Rivera and husband, Tony, Bonnie Segura and husband, Jose, and Tracy Gonzales and Lorraine Garcia; adopted daughter, Roseanne Almaraz; brother, Eddie Castillo; 28 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. MARTINEZ -- Rudy O. "Marty", a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Salas; one daughter, Suzanne Salas-Chavez and husband Eddie; two grandsons; Brenden and Landon Chavez; He is also survived by his father; Joseph Martinez; sister Cindi Graeber and husband Jerry; brother; Robert Martinez; and other brothers and sisters: Angie Sisneros and husband Albert, Eliseo Padilla, Melba Rivera and husband Bernie, Therese Padilla, Benny Salas and wife Sandy, and Tony Salas; He had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a graduate of Valley High School and a graduate of UNM. Marty served in the military where he earned the rank of staff sergeant. He was a Certified Financial Planner and in the financial business for the past 25 years. He was an avid sports fan and favored the Dallas Cowboys. He was a voracious reader and a history buff. Marty loved anyone that crossed his path and lived his life by the Golden Rule, treating others as he wanted to be treated. He was greatly loved and respected by all who knew him. His greatest pleasure and love was spending time with Brenden, Landon, Suzanne and Dee. His favorite truism was "actions speak louder than words". He and Dee traveled extensively throughout their lives together, often with their various family members. A Memorial Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 6:00 p.m., at French-Westside, 9300 Golf Course NW. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, with ennichment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park. ORTIZ VIGIL -- Maria Thelma Cantu Ortiz Vigil passed away October 10, 2010 from complications due to age. She was born July 10, 1926 in La Jara, Colorado to Fedelina Rivera and Lafayette Cantu. After high school, Thelma attended Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas in 1945 to1946. In 1947 she married Paul Rudolph Ortiz (Rudy) in Salina, Kansas. Rudy, born and raised in Monte Vista, CO, had just returned from WWII service in the Mariana Islands. Together they lived in Monte Vista, Espanola, NM then moved to Albuquerque in 1950. They were divorced in 1957. Thelma worked for the University of New Mexico's Religion in Higher Education program for 25 years, 13 years for The Geneva House and 12 years for The Newman Center. She retired in 1984. In March of 1982 Thelma married Felix Alonso Vigil in Albuquerque. Felix was also from So. Colorado and their families knew each other when they were children. Felix passed away in 1996. Thelma is survived by two daughters, Fedelina Stephanie (Ferron) Wimmer of Ogden, UT, and Jennifer Paula Helzer, Henderson of NV; three grandchildren, Neil Packwood of Woods Cross, UT, Gabrielle Helzer and Mikaela Helzer of Henderson, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Alfonso Cantu and Lafayette Cantu Jr. Her immediate family will gather to celebrate her life on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 9:00 a.m., at Daniels Family Funeral Home, Wyoming Blvd. Those who wish to send condolences may do so at www.danielsfuneral.com. ANAYA -- Richard William Anaya July 7, 1965 ~ March 26, 2010 Our Beloved Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend has passed away and joined lost loved ones in Heaven. Richard was 44 years old. He was employed by El Mirador. He worked for Anaya's Roadrunner Wrecker Service and Bob Towing. He enjoyed cooking, doing auto body work especially on his low rider, was an excellent artist along with his tattoo designs, spending time with his nephews and nieces. Richard's pride and joy was the time when he was a Volunteer Fire Fighter for the Agua Fria Fire and Rescue and was 2nd Lieutenant in the department and he fought many wild land fires, the Cerro Grande Fire, Bosque Fire, Vivash Fire, Dalton Fire, Gila Fire, Borrego Fire, and he also went as far as California. He also worked at Perkins Restaurant as a Chef. Richard was preceded in death by his dad Ralph Martinez; his brother Christopher Anaya Jr.; his grandparents Ike and Flora Montano; grandmother Bessie Anaya; his two Padrinos Tony Montano and Felimon Montoya, Pete and Katie King, Sally Anaya, Henry Anaya Sr., Richard Ortega, and Gilbert Rotunno. ROMERO -- Esther H. Romero, age 84, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, went to her heavenly home to be with the Lord, Friday, October 30, 2009, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Santa Rosa, NM on January 15, 1925. She was preceded in death by her sons, Anthony and Geronimo Romero; and by her brother Charles. Esther is survived by her loving children, Robert Romero and wife Dolores, Vickie Morse, Rudy Romero and wife Patsy, Mark Romero and wife Sylvia, Geraldine Garduno, Charlotte Valerio and husband Charles, Esther Garcia and husband Dan, and Patricia Rivera; her grandchildren, Debbie, John, Lori, Lawrence, Annette, Bernadette, Ronald, Anthony, Rick, Mark, Santiago, Augustina, Eric, Leroy, Julian, Bennigna, Jamie, Alfredo and Elias; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Ernest Hoehne and wife Marcella; sister, Gloria Montoya; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mom bore her illness well and complained very little. She tried to meet life with a sense of humor up until the end. One of her last quips when asked what the DNR band on her wrist stood for, she politely replied, "Dinner No Reservations". Good bye Mom, grandma you're in a better place now. We love you. Esther will be greatly missed by all. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1860 Griegos Rd., NW. A Private cremation will follow.
