ALVAREZ -- Olga (Olgui) Alvarez, born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on May 16, 1954 and a resident of Albuquerque since 1987, died October 29, 2009. She is survived by her beloved son Miguel Lopez-Fresquet; her parents Dr. Milton Alvarez-Pagan and Olga Alvarez; her brother Milton K. Alvarez; her sisters Marisol Navas-Sacasa, Silvia Alvarez, Margie Alvarez-Woodson and husband Darren Woodson; and nieces and nephews. Olga was a loving, caring and very special person who always lent a hand to anyone in need, including strangers. During her life, she touched many people's lives and she will be deeply missed by her family and all of those who knew her. COOK -- Kenneth William Cook, LT. COL USAF (RET.) was born in Ferney, South Dakota March 9, 1920. He is grieved by his beloved wife of 63 years, Doria Deighton Jones Cook; and his children Doria Cennethe Cook-Nelson, Sandria Markae MacDonald Cook, Mark Dustin MacDonald Cook; his sister, Geraldine Blanchard of Spokane, Washington; his nieces Georgia Toppe, Candace Enquist, and Tamera Greene; and his sister-in-law e.m.Babs Jones. Kenneth was preceded in death by his sister Lorrette Nogal. Early on while attending University of Southern California he met Doria Deighton Jones with whom he began a rare and remarkable life-long relationship. But WWII opportunities provided employment in Eritrea, Africa at a neutral air base to repair damaged aircraft for immediate return into combat. Later he was assigned to Bangalore, India as head of Aircraft Instrument Division for Hindustan Aircraft. In 1945 when drafted into the Air Force he returned to America marry his fiancee Doria in 1946. In 1953 he received his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Air Force of Technology in engineering (electrical), Wright Patterson. He received his professional engineering/surveying license from Ohio State, Columbus in 1953 and from the state of New Mexico in 1959. From 1961-67 was acting head of the US Air Force Scientific and Technical Liaison Division in Inglewood, California. He traveled extensively instructing EEEI engineers as to the significance Air Force special weapons and satellite communications and received various awards for his leadership. Simultaneous with his traveling Air Force career, Ken and fellow AFIT graduate Floyd Amundson created Albuquerque's AMCO, the first official company in the '50's to install and repair television in motels throughout New Mexico and parts of Arizona. As a member of the York and Scottish Rite Masons, he and his close Shriner friends created the Ballud Abyad Shriners Aeronautic Patrol, flying their iconic Fez balloon in international balloon fiestas all over the southwest. He was president of Albuquerque Senior Golf Assoc. and the New Mexico Senior Golf Assoc. He earned prestigious Low-Net first and second flight championship 1981 and '82. Hardworking, tenacious, generous, and loving, he taught his children to accept people for as they are, have confidence accepting personal challenges, pursue dreams, and to be honest trust-worthy human beings. Interested in solar, wind, and other alternative energy sources he was ever positive and hopeful no matter what the situation. A realist, yet he always loved a good joke. Self-deprecating, seldom speaking of his many talents. As he was greatly loved and appreciated, so he will be missed. COX -- Eugene "Gene", 82, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009. He was born in Kansas to Nelson and Maude Cox. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Jean Cox; children Pat Robertson-Meserole and husband Steve Meserole and Gary Cox and wife Cheryl; grandchildren Mike Boren, Kimberly Sanders and Justin, Steve and Jim Cox; seven great-grandchildren; and brother Chester Cox and his wife Jane Cox; and many nieces and nephews. Gene loved to fish and garden. He was a volunteer at Kaseman Hospital for eleven years. He retired from Sandia Labs after 32 years of service. Gene served in the US Navy during WWII. DAVIDSON -- Rev. Richard Evan (Slim) Davidson, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mona Louise Davidson on March 18, 2009. ESQUIVEL -- Chris "Gege" Esquivel, age 45, beloved son and brother, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 31, 2009. He was born on August 10, 1964 and was a life long resident of Albuquerque. Chris is survived by his loving mother, Lydia Esquivel; his father Ray Esquivel and wife Dinah; his brother, Henry Esquivel; sister, Melissa Esquivel; and nephew George Martinez, III.; and many aunts, uncles, other relatives and a host of friends. FREEDMAN -- Richard Alan Freedman, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on April 8, 2009 following a brief illness. Born March 14, 1948, Richard graduated from Highland High School in 1966, and attended the University of New Mexico where he earned his Bachelor's degree in 1971. Richard was a lifelong student who loved to read and learn new subjects. He particularly enjoyed science, mathematics and history. Richard was a dedicated supporter of the public libraries. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Harold L. Freedman; and by his beloved mother, Gladys H. Freedman. Cremation has taken place and was performed by Direct Funeral Services in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Richard's ashes are placed adjacent to his mother's at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

HERBST -- Geraldine B. Herbst, 96, passed away October 31, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family and her beloved Miss Kitty. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years Norman A Herbst. Geraldine is survived by her sisters Lorraine Flinchbaugh and Ruth Smith; brother Rodney Breneman all of York County, Pennsylvania. Mrs Herbst is also survived by her son Norman Herbst and wife Mary of El Paso, TX and daughter Norma Swanson of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Daniel Herbst, Stephanie Schulte and husband Mike, Melissa Kohrs and husband Louis; and also five great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. Geraldine moved to Albuquerque from Red Lion, Pa. in 1957. She worked in accounting for Dale Bellamah Corp. and was active in making and showing arts and crafts. Mrs. Herbst was a charter and current member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside memorial will be held for Norman and Geraldine at a later date. MCCUTCHEON -- James H. McCutcheon. After 97 wonderful years, James H. McCutcheon passed away on October 29, 2009. He was born in Rochelle Park, N.J. on August 29, 1912 to Charles and Daisy McCutcheon. He lived in Albuquerque for many years before moving to Las Cruces. He retired from Sandia Labs in 1972. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lillian; and their daughter, Muriel Sue Edgel. He is survived by his daughters, Loye Hardee and husband Harry of Las Cruces; Margie Crump and husband Rick of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Dr. James Hardee and wife Pam of Colorado; Suzanne Halvorson and husband Tom of Arizona; Nicole Gabel and husband Brandon of Santa Fe; Richelle Birdsall and husband Gabe of Texas; and Andrea Streight and husband Zach of California. There are seven great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Aaron Hardee, Ethan, Morghan, and Maddox Birdsall, Tyler and Kailey Streight. MEADE -- Dawn M. Meade (Riley), 34, was called to be with the Lord on October 29,2009. She was born 02-17-75. MILLER -- Sandra Matthews Miller, age 55, a resident of Belen, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009. Sandy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and a special friend. ROMERO -- Esther H. Romero, age 84, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, went to her heavenly home to be with the Lord, Friday, October 30, 2009, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Santa Rosa, NM on January 15, 1925. She was preceded in death by her sons, Anthony and Geronimo Romero; and by her brother Charles. Esther is survived by her loving children, Robert Romero and wife Dolores, Vickie Morse, Rudy Romero and wife Patsy, Mark Romero and wife Sylvia, Geraldine Garduno, Charlotte Valerio and husband Charles, Esther Garcia and husband Dan, and Patricia Rivera; her grandchildren, Debbie, John, Lori, Lawrence, Annette, Bernadette, Ronald, Anthony, Rick, Mark, Santiago, Augustina, Eric, Leroy, Julian, Bennigna, Jamie, Alfredo and Elias; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Ernest Hoehne and wife Marcella; sister, Gloria Montoya; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mom bore her illness well and complained very little. She tried to meet life with a sense of humor up until the end. One of her last quips when asked what the DNR band on her wrist stood for, she politely replied, "Dinner No Reservations". Good bye Mom, grandma you're in a better place now. We love you. Esther will be greatly missed by all. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary. RUIZ -- Louie Ruiz, was a life long resident of Albuquerque from August 25, 1947 until November 1, 2009. Mr. Ruiz is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Mrs. Lupe Ruiz; his children, Timothy Ruiz, Thomas Ruiz, and Amanda Smith and husband, Chris; his mother, Irene Santistevan and husband, Armando; his granddaughters, Victoria and Isabella; his brother, Larry Maestas; sisters, Elena Romero and Dolores Chavez; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, nieces and nephews. Mr. Ruiz was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Gabriella; and his brothers, Leonard Ruiz, Johnny Maestas, and Jimmy Ruiz. Louie was born and raised in Albuquerque. He finished high school in Jemez Valley in 1967 and enlisted into the Army that summer serving two tours in Vietnam, coming home in 1970. Louie married his wife, Lupe, February 6, 1971. Louie began his career for the B.C.S.O on April 2, 1973 and then began his family. After 20 years of service he retired in October 1993. He continued working for agencies within the law enforcement until his final retirement in 2003. After retiring he took up the hobbies of fly tying, fishing; and he was also an avid corvette enthusiast. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mary Duneman. Final visitation will be Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Father Joel Garner, presider. STULL -- Lillian Elizabeth Stull, 72, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, October 30, 2009. She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Booth, Mary Marusak, Nancy Betik all of Ennis, TX, and Barbara Doughty of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Stull; and her niece, Beth Green. On 7/24/1975 she married Charles Stull in Houston. In the early 80s they moved to Albuquerque. On 5/15/1983 she received her Master's degree from UNM. She retired from the Rio Rancho School District. WALTON -- Jerry Everett "Ed" Walton, 82, died on Friday, October 30, 2009. Ed was a veteran of both the US Navy and the US Army. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elaine Walton; and his son Eddie Lee Walton. He was a career transport driver. Ed was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the NRA, the North American Hunting Club, and he was an avid collector focusing on Budweiser memorabilia, firearms and Buck knives. He was a friendly guy, had many friends and will be greatly missed. Private Services were held.
