JONES, THEODIS JR. Theodis Jones was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to his loving parents Theodis Jones Sr. and Leanne Rhodes on October 30, 1931. He was raised in the church and accepted Christ at a young age. He graduated from Merrill High School where he was class president and a member of the National Honor Society. In 1951 after high school, Theodis joined the Air Force where he traveled to many continents serving our country and retiring in 1971 as a Tech Sergeant. During his time in the military, he met the love of his life LaEtna McNeil of Natchez, Mississippi. They were married in Boston in 1961 and shared this holy bond that lasted for 53 glorious years. During this union they were blessed with four children, Michael L., Kenneth L., Phillip C. and Sandra D. (Jones) Holguin. In 1971 he retired from the Air Force in Fayetteville, NC, during that time the family moved back to Massachusetts. Ted worked for MITRE Corp. for 20 years. During this time he was elected to Who's Who among Students in "American Jr. Colleges" in recognition of Outstanding Merit Accomplishments as a student at Newbury Jr. College in the late 70's. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Management at the University of Lowell in Lowell, MA. While living in Massachusetts, Bro. Jones was a member of St. John's Baptist Church and remained a contributing member while living in Albuquerque, NM. During his time at St. John's he was a trustee, an usher, choir member and chaired several committees. In 2005 the Jones' moved to Albuquerque, NM and joined the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. The first thing Bro. Jones joined was the Laymen Ministry. He then progressed on as a Trustee of the church where he soon became a part of the Finance Committee becoming the Benevolence Chair. He attended Sunday School on a regular basis and co-chaired the Pastor Search Committee. Bro. Jones also worked on the church by-laws committee and sang in the Male Chorus. Bro. Jones had a sprit that would light up a room, and whatever he did in his lifetime, he truly did it for the glory and honor of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. His Favorite song was "Precious Lord", and his favorite verse was Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." He was preceded in death by his parents Theodis Jones Sr. and Leanne Rhodes and one brother DeAutry Jones. He is survived by his loving wife LaEtna Jones; his sons, Michael L., of Lowell, MA, Kenneth L., of Hudson, NH, Phillip C., of Nashua, NH; his daughter, Sandra D. (Phillip) Holguin, of Albuquerque, NM. His grandchildren, Derek Tanner, Justin Jones, Sharee Jones, Michael Jones, II, Shauna Jones, Marina Partridge, Caitlyn Jones, Phillip Jones Jr, Jeremy Theodis Jones and Matthew Holguin. His great-grandchildren, Jayonna Little, Jacoby Jones, Joshua Little, Quentin Theodis Jones and Jorel Thomas. His brothers, Daniel L., (Delia), Phillip J., (Glenda), Carlton (Shirley) and several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. SEPPONEN, SPENCER SHELDON Age 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, died February 19, 2015 of a massive heart attack. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Petra; step-daughters, Elizabeth Cervantes, and Angel Lovato and husband Norman; daughter-in-law, Trudy Cervantes, all of Albuquerque; two grandsons, Austin Cervantes and Dallas Stafford and wife Britni; great-granddaughter, Solana; two cousins, Alan and Carol Bielski; and many wonderful neighbors and close friends including Peter Romero and Kathy Gordon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve and Eino Sepponen; and step-son, Martin Cervantes. CHAVEZ, ORLANDO age 60, was born October 17, 1954 and went to be with Our Lord on February 18, 2015. Orlando was the son of Perfecto and Candie Chavez. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Chavez. He is survived by his brothers Edward Chavez and partner, Tony Bosco, Raymond Chavez and wife Cathy and their two daughters; sisters Loretta and husband Ignacio Perez, Janet and husband Allen Gonzales; padrinos Albert and Flora Otero; Aunt Lucy Diaz, Uncle Nester Cordova and wife Doris; many nieces, nephews and friends. HAWLEY-CHAVEZ, MICHAEL COLTON April 1, 1989- February 14, 2015 Michael (Mikey) was a beloved son, grandson and wonderful friend to many, he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his mother Mary Hawley; father Mike Chavez; grandmothers: Doris Burton and Ophelia Chavez; aunts Christina, Barbara and Cindy; uncles Darin, David, Melvin, Tom, Mark; brother Matthew; and his sister Kimberly. Preceded in death by his aunt Jolene. Michael was in the Army Reserves, attended UNM and worked for Discount Tire. CRUZ, HILDA G. On February 21, 2015, the Lord peacefully took Hilda G. Cruz from this earth. She was greeted with open arms into Heaven by her loving husband, Paul J. Cruz, her parents Jose and Isabel Gutierrez, grandson Aaron Acevedo, son-in-law Douglas Kawcak and many other relatives and friends who preceded her in death. Hilda's journey began in Rowe, NM, where she was born on May 19, 1930. She graduated from El Rito HS and set her sights on the big city - Albuquerque. That's where she met and married the love of her life, Paul. Together they owned and operated several successful businesses including El Comedor De Cruz, Little Anita's bar in Albuquerque and El Nido Restaurant /Bar in Los Chavez. After much success in the restaurant business, she followed her true passion and became a very successful Realtor/Broker and established yet another business, Casa Del Sol Realty. She was a businesswoman with a heart, and made a point to put people before profits, often helping others find homes or business deals they would not have been able to without her. Hilda followed her mother's footsteps in being a woman ahead of her time. She did not believe in barriers for working women and always being the best at what she did. . Aside from her professional accomplishments, Hilda was widely known as a fashionista and "Hat Lady," because of her impressive collection of hats and elegant, classic style. With all that she did, she was a wonderful mother and Nana, who lived by honesty, hard work, integrity, love and respect. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, Sabrina Kawcak, Paul Jr. and wife Veronica, Merlinda Acevedo and husband Art, Donald and wife Lori; siblings Carlos Gutierrez, Connie Francis, Gloria Otero and husband Max, and Joe Gutierrez; sister-in-law Ada Kozlowski; grandsons, Dominic, Paul, Chris, and Donald; granddaughters Alix and Taylor; great-grandson Jacen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. MOYA, JACOBO "JACK" 1924-2015 Jacobo "Jack" Moya, age 91, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Jack graduated from Belen Schools and was a graduate from Harvard University. He was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus in Albuquerque, the Knights of Columbus and also very active in church and the community. Jack worked for the Belen Railroad and also for the America Center for International Labor Solidarity/ ALFCIO for many years of outstanding service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Henita Moya; daughter, Susan Moya Baca; grandsons, Ivan Torres and Daniel Torres; wife, Lee Moya; son-in-law, Pete Stracener; and brothers and sisters. Jack is survived by his daughters, Maryann Stracener, Frances Castillo and husband, Dimas, Helen Chavez and husband, Johnny; sons, Alex Romero and Albert Romero; sisters, Nancy Chavez and husband, Simon, Mary Rose Archuleta and husband, Joe; brothers, Rubin Moya and wife, Ester; 22 grandchildren; 34 great- grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Friday, February 20th beginning with a Viewing at 11:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 12:30 p.m. and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. DOW, RAMONA Beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend lost her battle with cancer on February 14, 2015. She was born on June 17, 1936 in Santa Fe. NM. Ramona loved the outdoors, cooking, and her beloved animals. She and Archie were avid Lobos fans for years. Ramona is preceded in death by her husband, Archie Dow; her parents, Filiberto and Remigia Tapia; brother, Joe Leonard. She is survived by her two brothers, Frank Tapia, Carlos Tapia; three sisters, Mary Tapia, Stella Tapia, Betty Armijo and husband, Michael; four brothers in law, Leo Dow, Ernest Dow and wife, Florence, Orlando Dow and wife, Helen, Robert Dow; two sisters in law, Mary Dow and Priscilla Dow; many special nieces, nephews and their families. Ramona was a devoted Christian, Jesus was Lord of her life. Her family is grateful for the care given to her by Dr. Muller, UNM Cancer Center, Heartland Enriching Life Hospice service in her final two weeks. Special thanks to Father Carlos Gonzales for his weekly visits and administering weekly holy communion, and to her cousin Jane Olonia for her weekly visits. THOMAS, BARBARA Barbara Antoinette Thomas, age 57, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015. She was born on August 26, 1957 in El Paso, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her husband, Phillip Chavez; children Jessica and Samuel Chavez; son-in-law Matt Martinez; father Charles Thomas; brothers Charlie, Robert, and Paul Thomas; and sisters-in-law Patsy and Carol Thomas. She is a graduate of Rio Grande High School and she attended UNM. She taught catechism and served as president of the Alter and Rosary Society for St. Anne's Catholic Church. Barbara worked as an educational assistant for over 35 years at Albuquerque High School and she also served as educational assistant president for the Albuquerque Teachers Federation. A Rosary will be recited in her memory followed by a Mass and reception at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd. S.W. 87105, on Monday, February 23rd, 2015 starting at 8:15am.
