ANAYA, VICTOR RAYMOND Victor Anaya, 58, passed away February 21, 2015. Victor was known for his love of faith, his children, his grandchildren, and his heart of gold. He is survived by loving wife, Lisa; his daughter, Victoria; his son, Ely (Brittany); and his two grandchildren, Santos and Selena. He is also survived by brothers, Greg, Gilbert, Mario and Timothy; sisters, Wanda, Yolanda (Ernie), and Lisa. He was preceded in death by father, Gilbert Anaya; his mother, Virginia Anaya, and brother, Ruben Anaya. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac Road SW, in Albuquerque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., also at the Church of the Ascension. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE. BUELL, DORIS VERNON Doris Vernon Buell (93) passed away on December 30, 2014, in Bothell, WA. She was born in Blue Springs, NE, on June 13, 1921. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, NE, in 1937, and attended the University of Nebraska for three years before meeting and marrying Aulton E. "Bob" Roland in 1940. Bob, a Captain in the U.S. Army, was killed in action in April, 1945, leaving Doris with 3 preschool-aged children. Bob and Doris had dreamed of living in New Mexico. In 1949, a few years after his death, Doris and the children moved to Albuquerque. In 1955, she married Seth Eugene Buell. They had three more children. In 1955 Doris obtained her B.A. degree from the University of New Mexico. The family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1964, and a few years later to Flagstaff, AZ, where they lived for over 20 years. Gene and Doris were founding members of the Congregational Church in Flagstaff. Doris, an accomplished musician, was a church organist for 55 years, both in Albuquerque and Flagstaff. In Flagstaff, she also worked for the Flagstaff Public Library, being responsible for driving the bookmobile through the rain, sleet and snow of Flagstaff's winters. Doris loved traveling and exploring Native American sites and ruins around the Southwest, and playing the piano and organ. Following her divorce from Gene in 1980, and a two-year long trip in a camper around the United States, Doris and her companion, Ruth Dalbeck, retired in Sedona, AZ. They lived in Sedona for over 25 years before moving to Cottonwood Village, a retirement facility in Cottonwood, AZ. In 2011 Doris and Ruth moved to Woodinville WA, where they were living at the time Doris passed away. Doris is survived by her long-time companion Ruth Dalbeck; son Aulton E. "Bob" Roland (Nelcine), of Quemado, NM; daughters Sue Ward of Santa Barbara, CA; Anne Cotter (Vernon) of Sedona, AZ; Adrienne Gonzalez of White Salmon, WA; Katherine Standifer (David) of Aurora, CO; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Christopher Randel Buell (Peg) of Sequim, WA. Doris will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her ashes will be taken to Blue Sprigs, Nebraska to be buried in the family plot. A family service will be held in Blue Springs at that time.

COOPER, CHARLES E. (BUDDY) Age 68, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 after a long illness. He was born in Albuquerque, NM and graduated from Highland High School. Charles was a retired veteran having served 20 years in the US Navy. He was preceded in death by brother, Anthony Cooper; father, Charles H. CRUZ, HILDA G. On February 21, 2015, the Lord peacefully took Hilda G. Cruz from this earth. She was greeted with open arms into Heaven by her loving husband, Paul J. Cruz, her parents Jose and Isabel Gutierrez, grandson Aaron Acevedo, son-in-law Douglas Kawcak and many other relatives and friends who preceded her in death. Hilda's journey began in Rowe, NM, where she was born on May 19, 1930. She graduated from El Rito HS and set her sights on the big city - Albuquerque. That's where she met and married the love of her life, Paul. Together they owned and operated several successful businesses including El Comedor De Cruz, Little Anita's bar in Albuquerque and El Nido Restaurant /Bar in Los Chavez. After much success in the restaurant business, she followed her true passion and became a very successful Realtor/Broker and established yet another business, Casa Del Sol Realty. She was a businesswoman with a heart, and made a point to put people before profits, often helping others find homes or business deals they would not have been able to without her. Hilda followed her mother's footsteps in being a woman ahead of her time. She did not believe in barriers for working women and always being the best at what she did. . Aside from her professional accomplishments, Hilda was widely known as a fashionista and "Hat Lady," because of her impressive collection of hats and elegant, classic style. With all that she did, she was a wonderful mother and Nana, who lived by honesty, hard work, integrity, love and respect. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, Sabrina Kawcak, Paul Jr. and wife Veronica, Merlinda Acevedo and husband Art, Donald and wife Lori; siblings Carlos Gutierrez, Connie Francis, Gloria Otero and husband Max, and Joe Gutierrez; sister-in-law Ada Kozlowski; grandsons, Dominic, Paul, Chris, and Donald; granddaughters Alix and Taylor; great-grandson Jacen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. DEMICHELE, VALERIE JOY Age 61, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on 2/22/15. Valerie worked at Presbyterian Hospital for 16 yrs as a claims adjuster. She is survived by her spouse Monte; son Brian Brill; grandchildren Briana and Marcus Brill; parents Mike and Dee Padilla; siblings Victoria Farmer, Mark Padilla, Christine Valdez, Edward Padilla; and special cousin Teresa Salazar. Valerie was such an unselfish, kindhearted person and truly an inspiration in the final days of her life. Her love and life will continue in all of us who are her family and friends. A joyous memorial service will be held at New Beginnings Church, 3601 Montgomery Blvd NE at 11:00 am, Thursday 2/26/15. GIRON, ANDREA B. Age 95, beloved mother of 14 children, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully Saturday, February 21, 2015, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Acacia, NM on September 2, 1919 and lived most of her life in Albuquerque. Andrea will be remembered for her delicious cooking, especially her homemade bread and red chile. Her home was always open to family and friends. KEYS, CAROLINE M. Caroline M. Keys, age 79, went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2015. She enjoyed tending to her garden, arts and crafts and smoking her Moore cigarettes. She enjoyed attending social events, especially the state fair. LINCOLN, LILLIAN A. Age 98, a resident of Tijeras since April 1, 1958, died Friday, February 20, 2015. She is survived by her children, William R. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, William Richard Lincoln; her daughter, Lynette A. Stout; grandsons, Steven and Lee Banister and sister, Arlene Beryl Sherrill. She was born in 1916 in Pontiac, MI to Ernest Cranston and Edith Beryl (Axford) Inwood. She married Richard on October 13, 1936 in San Diego, CA where he was stationed in the Navy. They moved to New Mexico in 1958 and became active in raising and showing Arabian horses and later Beagles. Lillian and Richard were founding members of Forest Meadow Baptist Church in Tijeras. MARCILLA, ALICE D. Alice D. Marcilla, 69, died on February 13, 2015. She is survived by her children, Tina Kenyherz and Lisa Marcilla-Abeyta, and her husband, Dr. William Abeyta; grandchildren Alexandra Kenyherz and Samantha Kenyherz; her sister, Dolores Madril, and husband, John Madril; her brother, Joe Vicente, and wife, Kelly Vicente, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Marcilla, and her mother and father, Dolores and Jose Vicente. Alice was a long-time resident of Albuquerque, where she lived after marrying Frank Marcilla on August 26, 1967. She was a graduate of Colorado State Women's College and of New Mexico State University, graduating in 1967 with a business degree. Alice was a devoted wife, mother, and partner to her husband Frank. She was instrumental in helping develop the family business. Alice was a confident and number-one supporter for her children. She will be missed by many. MCNERNEY, KATHERINE VIRGINIA Katherine Virginia McNerney was born on July 16, 1910, in Kansas City, Missouri. She passed away February 19th. She was the eldest of six children born to Thomas and Anna Long McNerney. Shortly after graduating from St. Vincent's Academy in 1928, Katherine moved to San Francisco and took a job with the newly formed FBI. She returned to Kansas City when the war started to be with family. She earned her bachelor's degree from The College of St. Teresa (now Avila University) in 1956. She relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she earned a master's degree in elementary education from the University of New Mexico in 1961. She was a long-time member of the American Association of University Women. Her love of teaching and working with young people inspired her to pursue a teaching career which began on Indian reservations in New Mexico and with the Albuquerque Public Schools. She also taught for five years in Turkey and the Philippine Islands at US Air Force bases while touring the Mid-East and Europe. After retiring, Katherine returned to Kansas City. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Thomas and wife Vivian, John (Jack) and wife Rosemary, Eugene and Richard McNerney and her sister Anne McNerney Jordan. She is survived by 12 nieces and nephews, Thomas McNerney and wife Barbara, Eugene McNerney, Eugene Jordan, Richard Jordan and wife Joan, Charlene Jordan, Jeannine Jordan Bohannan, Kevin Jordan and wife Sheryl, all of the Kansas City area, Patricia Tillery and husband Marvin of Arizona, Rosemary McNerney Winkler and husband William, Kathleen McNerney, John McNerney and wife Virginia Watkins all of New Mexico, and US Congressman Jerry McNerney and wife Mary of California. She also leaves 21 great-nieces and nephews; 18 great-great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-great-nephews; and many other special relatives and friends. This diminutive lady was distinguished by her continual quest for knowledge but more importantly her remarkable love and devotion to family and friends. She will long be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. The Irish contingent in heaven will be so happy to receive our "Aunt Katherine". Katherine was a long-time member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and its Friendship Club. Visitation will be held at the St. Elizabeth Church, 75th & Main, on Saturday, February 28th from 9:00 to 10:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery. MITCHELL, KIMBERLY M. March 26, 1961- February 13, 2015 Kimberly (Kim) Mutz Mitchell, 53, of Albert, NM, passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on February 13, 2015. She was born in Raymondville, Texas on March 26, 1961 to Harvey Kurt Mutz and Billie Nell Mutz. A graduate of Sharyland High School (Mission, TX), class of 1979, Kim earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University (TAMU) in 1984. She met the love of her life, Terry Robert Mitchell, at TAMU in August 1979 and they married on July 27, 1985. Married for 29 years, the two lived in Albert on the Tequesquite Ranch. All those who encountered Kim were drawn to her vibrant, magnetic personality as evidenced by the countless friendships she created throughout her life. She was a loving rancher's wife and stern but nurturing mother who acted as executive assistant to her husband. With the grit of a cowgirl and the grace of a lady, she loved working cattle and conserving the land and heritage with Terry. Kim was actively involved with the Mesa Soil and Water Conservation District; New Mexico Association of Conservation Districts; El Llano Estacado Resource Conservation & Development Council; and New Mexico Association of Resource Conservation and Development. She was a member of the Mosquero Community Church as a devout Christian and prayer warrior who placed her faith and family in God's hands. She made it a point to pray every day for her three children as well as their future spouses and their lives together. Her enthusiasm for life was evident and her love of family foremost. Kim is survived by her loving husband, Terry R. Mitchell of Albert; her children, Tanner Mitchell of Albert, Ashleigh Mitchell of Grants, NM, and Zachary Mitchell of The United States Navy; mother, Billie Mutz of Mission, TX; her father and step-mother, Harvey and Minerva Mutz of Mission; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tracy and Brannon Brooke of New Braunfels, TX, Pamela and Paul Kemp of Gatesville, TX, and Tricia Brown of Mission; her step-brother, Alex Mutz of Corpus Christi, TX; her half-brother, Kurt Mutz of Lubbock, TX; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life for Kim will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 3:30pm MST at Mosquero Municipal Schools in Mosquero, NM. MUNOZ, MARY ELLEN Age 61, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to John and Susie Vargas on June 2, 1953. Mary Ellen is survived by her parents, John and Susie Vargas of Albuquerque, NM; husband, Jim Munoz of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Linda Cordova and husband, Arthur; daughters, Anna Munoz and husband, Karlos Sachs of Arlington, VA, Christina Munoz and husband, Brian Barnes of Albuquerque, NM; her granddaughter, Zion who was her pride and joy in life; niece, Sonia Cordova; nephew, Juan Cordova and wife, Consuelo; grandnieces, Natalia Cordova and Catalina Cordova. Mary Ellen was an amazing woman, a loving daughter and wife, an extraordinary mother and grandmother, and a dedicated friend and teacher. Mary Ellen married the love of her life, Jim Munoz on August 25, 1973 and in the fall of 1979, they and their two daughters, moved from Albuquerque to Carlsbad. Shortly thereafter, Mary began teaching with the Head Start Program where she spent 18 years as an early childhood education specialist. Upon leaving Head Start, she soon realized that she wasn't ready to retire and accepted a position as a teaching assistant with the Jefferson Montessori Academy, where she has worked with elementary school students for the last 12 years. Mary Ellen had an immense love for her family, friends, students and life as a whole. She could always be counted on to provide a hand, a smile, a listening ear and words of encouragement or comfort to those around her. Although her life centered around her family, she was also known for her love of Elvis, the Yankees, trips to Ruidoso, and nights out with her girlfriends. She will be greatly missed but her influence and memory will undoubtedly live on in the many lives she has touched throughout the years. ROSSIGNOL, MARILYN Marilyn Rossignol lost her battle with Pancreatic Cancer on February 22, 2015 at age 87. Born December 27, 1927 in Chicago Illinois, Marilyn was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High School. She and her husband Richard Rossignol Sr. founded Northeast Auto Electric in 1951. With her sons, the business continues to serve generations of customers. Marilyn was an avid gardener and fisherman and enjoyed camping and swimming. As the neighborhood historian, her vibrant energy made her yard a gathering place for all. Her beautiful intuitive green eyes will always be remembered by family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband Richard, her father Frederick and mother Emma Raymond Broell, and sister Alberta Hamilton. Survived by her siblings Barbara Caughlin and Frederick Broell; children, son Richard Rossignol, Jr. and wife Connie, daughter Connie Callan and husband John, son Mark Rossignol and Susan Reidy; grandchildren Paul Rossignol and wife Lisa, Eve Rossignol, Bart Callan, Danelle Adams and husband Joseph; and the great-grandchildren, Lily and Lola Rossignol. SEPPONEN, SPENCER SHELDON Age 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, died February 19, 2015 of a massive heart attack. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Petra; step-daughters, Elizabeth Cervantes, and Angel Lovato and husband Norman; daughter-in-law, Trudy Cervantes, all of Albuquerque; two grandsons, Austin Cervantes and Dallas Stafford and wife Britni; great-granddaughter, Solana; two cousins, Alan and Carol Bielski; and many wonderful neighbors and close friends including Peter Romero and Kathy Gordon. WENK, JOHN O. John O. Wenk passed away on February 13, 2015 at age 83 of congestive heart failure. He was born and raised in the South Valley, owned and operated Wenk Farms with his brother until 1989 and continued the Wenk Greenhouses until his retirement in 1994. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Grace; a daughter, Becky; a son, John F., and wife, Shelly; two grandsons, Dillon and Dalton, as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many, many good friends.
