GARCIA -- Dulcinia S. Garcia, 78, a longtime resident of Willard, NM, passed away Saturday September 25, 2004, in Albuquerque, NM. She was born August 17, 1926, in Deramadero, NM, to Louis and Aurelia (Velasquez) Marez. She married Rafael M. Garcia May 5, 1946, in Portales, NM. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Rafael M. Garcia, of Willard, NM; four sons Ambrosio R. and his wife Maggie Garcia of Albuquerque, NM, Edward M. Garcia of Willard, NM, Ernest M. Garcia of Clovis, NM, and Albert S. and his wife Brenda Padilla, of Estancia, NM; one daughter Lucinda V. and her husband George Padilla, of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters Julia Martinez of Encino, NM, and Eliara "Lala" Apodaca of Clovis, NM; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one great granddaughter Alana Padilla; five brothers, Marcos Marez, Jacobo Marez, Lois Marez, Alejandro Marez, and Juan Marez; and three sisters Frances Gonzales, Rosa Garcia, and Lupe Marez. A rosary will be recited Monday September 27, 2004-7:00 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Willard, NM. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday September 28, 2004-10:00 AM, with father Florian Renaud officiating, also at Our Lady of Sorrows. Burial will follow at the Willard Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Conrad Padilla, Vicente Garcia, Andrew Padilla, Juan R. Garcia, Tony Apodaca, and Juan G. Garcia. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Marez, Raymundo Apodaca, Guillermo Marez, Roy Gallegos, Rick Baca, and Anthony Garcia. GALLEGOS -- Kathryn Nadine (Lyon) Gallegos departed on September 21, 2004. Nadine was born to Arthur LeRoy Lyon and Katherine R. Gray in Salem, Lea Co, IA on July 6, 1923, and was the youngest of ten children, including Irma Marie, Pauline Gladys, Ralph Bernard, Geneva Eileen, Maxine Eleanor, Marjorie Helen, Miriam Elizabeth, Wilbur H., and Robert Dale. She was raised on the family farm in Mount Pleasant, IA and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1941. Nadine then moved to California where she bore three sons, Michael Lyon Burke (son of first husband William Riley Burke), Patrick Lyon Gallegos and Timothy Lyon Gallegos (sons of second husband George Thomas Gallegos, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM). In 1954 the family moved to Albuquerque, where she bore Gallegos' Kathryn Julia, Thomas Lyon, and Linda Theresa. Nadine began employment in the banking industry while in California. Upon arrival in Albuquerque, she was employed by the First National Bank, and in 1987 retired as Assistant Vice President. She then was able to travel the world with family and friends, contribute to the rearing of grandchildren, and remain active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Albuquerque. She has been a resident of Rio Rancho, NM since 2002. Nadine is remembered as a loving and providing mother and grandmother and as a dedicated wife and friend. She is survived by her brother, Wilbur and sister, Miriam; and by all of her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren are: Lisa Cathleen and Sean Lyon, children of Carol (York) and Michael; Ethan Lyon Arthur, son of Pamela B. (Duran) and Patrick; Tamara Selina, daughter of Patricia (Mullville) and Timothy; Dustin Uriah, Kandace Laurelle, Nathaniel Isaac and Celestine Rochelle, children of William Joseph Robertson Jr. and Kathryn; Lamanda Lyon, daughter of Linda. Her great-grandchildren are Robert Nicholas, Brent Lyon, and Colin George, children of Tyler Gray and Lisa (Burke); Michael Lyon and Abigail Anne, children of Christina (Sundberg) and Sean Burke. Services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Albuquerque West Stake Building at Ellison and Golf Course Rd., NW. GALLEGOS -- Arthur Gallegos, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Sunday, September 19, 2004. Arthur is survived by his wife, Anna of the family home; sons, Arthur D. Gallegos and wife, Josie of Mesa, AZ; Ernest Gallegos and wife, Yong of Los Lunas; daughters, Ruth Celina Stauder and husband, Michael of Villa Grove, IL; Theresa Gallegos of Albuquerque; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Severina of El Paso, TX. Arthur was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during WWII. He retired as a Railroad Agent from Santa Fe Railroad in 1975 with 32 years of service. He was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Community where he served as an usher for many years. He was a member of the Society of St. Joseph in Pinon Wells, NM and an honored member of the St. Jude League. Arthur and Anna were longtime members of a camping club and greatly enjoyed their recreational vehicle. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Rosary which will be recited Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Community. Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ernest Gallegos, Andrew Garcia, David Gallegos, Elaine Hanson, Nan Seale and Meg Stauder. GARCIA -- Mr. Abelio T. Garcia, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on September 19, 2004. Mr. Garcia is the beloved father to Abelio R. Garcia Jr. and wife, Betty, Pablo R. Garcia and wife, Julile, Jose I. Garcia and wife, Martha, Mary (Angela) Sandoval and husband, Andrew A., Meres Gonzales and husband, Antonio, Yolanda C. Carrillo and husband, Chris, Mary (Nancy) Ortiz and husband, Charlie. Mr. Garcia is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Garcia was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. Mr. Garcia worked with the Albuquerque Dukes Organization for over 30 years, was retired from Sandia Lab and he loved baseball. A visitation for Mr. Garcia will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway SE with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 by Father Terry Messer, Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be B.J. Garcia, Pablo Garcia, Jude A. Sandoval, Daniel C. Carrillo, Marino G. Sandoval, and Sys Hansana. PEREA -- Arsenio Perea, 80 passed away on Friday, September 17, 2004. He was called home to be with his beloved wife Rosemary of 43 years. He is proceeding in death by his wife, and parents Mr. and Mrs. Demetro Perea, and padrinos, Willie and Katy Trujillo. He has one surviving sister, Berna Martinez who resides in Dixon, NM. He is survived by one sister-in-law, Helen Yanni. and two brother-in-laws, Felix Trujillo, James Trujillo and wife, Alda from Colorado Springs, CO. Mr. Perea had one daughter, Cita and son-in-law, Ralph Anaya; one son, Mariano “Steve” Perea and former daughter-in-law, Prescilla Salazar. He had three grandchildren, Emily Werley, Jeanette Cuevas and husband, Adam and only grandson, Arsenio Anaya. He had three great-grandchildren, Julian Gallegos, Mariah Anaya, Adan Cuevas and expecting his fourth great-grandchild. Mr. Perea retired after thirty years of service from the city of Albuquerque, and enjoyed nineteen wonderful retired years doing what he liked best was his passion for gardening, and enjoyed his last year of gardening before he suffered from Heart Disease and Diabetes. A visitation will be held Monday September 20 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Salazar and Sons Mortuary, 400 3rd St. The rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at the San Jose Church, 2110 Los Luceros Rd. on Tuesday September 21 at 10:00 a.m. Internment will follow at Mt. GATEWOOD -- Clarence N. (Cal) Gatewood II, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977, died Monday, September 13, 2004. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Ann Gatewood; and his granddaughter, Criselda G. Teachey. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Esther E. (Candelaria) Gatewood; two sons: Donald N. Gatewood and wife, Evelyn of Virginia Beach, VA and David N. Gatewood and wife, Lynn of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren: Anna and Barbara Gatewood of Virginia Beach, VA, Donna Minson of Orlando, FL, Chris and Marcus Hulliger of Albuquerque, Daniel, Miguel and Nicole Gatewood of Albuquerque; and four great-grandchildren: Chaz Gatewood of Virginia Beach, VA, Stephen and Elijah Teachey of Turkey, NC, and Travis J. Minson of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by four brothers: George J. Gatewood of Los Angeles, CA, Henry D. Gatewood II and wife, Mary Lee of Chandler, AZ, David Gatewood and wife, Tillie of Fayetteville, NC, Mickey Dalton and wife, Marilyn of Ft. Defiance, AZ; and one sister: Mary Ann Gatewood of Prescott Valley, AZ. All the brothers were US Army Paratroopers. Cal was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, where his father-in-law, the late Rev. J.I. Candelaria was a pastor for more than 30 years. Cal retired from the Army with 30 years of service. He entered the Army in 1947 as a paratrooper and later became the Navajo Nation's first helicopter pilot. Cal served in several overseas locations including Korea as a helicopter pilot, two tours in Vietnam flying the CH-47 Chinook on his first tour and the CH-54-B Skycrane on his second tour. On his first tour Cal was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for a night rescue of 14 Air Force personnel whose plane had crashed into the side of a mountain. Cal was a Master Army Aviator, Master Parachutist, and received many awards. He was born in Fort Defiance, AZ in 1930. Cal attended the Ganado Presbyterian mission school where he met his future wife, Esther E. Candelaria, who was attending Nurse's Training School. They were married on June 14, 1951 at the Second Presbyterian Church by her father Rev. J.I. Candelaria. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at the Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith Blvd. NE, with Pastor Jaime O. Quinones officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Brian DeHerrera, David Candelaria, Eric Candelaria, Marty Gallegos, Travis Irwin, and Nathan Gatewood. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. LOPEZ -- Elvira Villa Lopez was born August 12, 1934 in Santa Maria del Oro, Durango, Mexico. She passed away September 14, 2004 in Albuquerque. Elvira enjoyed spending time with her family, eating out at restaurants and attending Church services. She is survived by her eight children, Enrique Lopez, Jose Lopez, Maria Gamboa, Francisco Lopez, Gloria Gallegos and husband, Johnny, Beatrice Lopez, Gabriella Lopez and Ramon Lopez; two sisters, Bertha Franco and Licha Garcia; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss her. A Rosary will be recited in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services on Friday, September 17, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will also be recited at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a celebration of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery.
