LUCERO -- Joe Lucero died Tuesday, October 26, 2004 in Albuquerque at the age of 82. Mr. Lucero is preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Wyler. He is survived by his sons, Jeramias (Jerry) Lucero and wife, Dorothy, Charlie Lucero and wife, Charlene B., and Clyde Lucero and wife, Lynne; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elena Lucero and family; nephew, George Ronquillo and family; and common-law wife, Lola Chavez and family. A Rosary for Mr. Lucero will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2004 also at St. Therese Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Martinez, NM. Pallbearers will be Joseph A. Lucero, Jeremy L. Lucero, Carl A. Lucero, Nicolas A. BLAKE -- Veronica Blake, 64, a resident of Belen, peacefully joined our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 27, 2004. Veronica was the beloved daughter of the late Jose Abran and Odelia Barela, and beloved daughter-in-law of the late John and Antonia Blake, and grandmother of the late Katherine Ortega, and beloved wife of Louis Blake of 44 years; beloved mother of Geraldine Gallegos and her husband, Jerry of Albuquerque, NM; Karen Carrillo and her husband, John of Belen; Wendy Lynch and her husband, Jessie of Belen; Sharon Blake; and Carol Sanchez and her husband, Henry of Bosque, NM; and a loving and devoted grandmother of Dionne, Eric, John, Antoinette, Kimberly, Ashley, Matthew, Isaiah, Faith, John Jr., and her loving great granddaughter, Larissa; loving sister of her ten siblings, Ramon Barela and his wife, Eva; Maria Thomas and her husband, Jim; Clory and Robert Gabaldon; Fidel Barela and his wife, Anna; Jerry Barela and his wife, Priscilla; Lawrence Barela and his wife, Edna; Berna Vigil and her husband, Rey; Porfie Barela; and Doreen Carrillo and her husband, Ronald. Veronica also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Abundant Life Christian Center 105 Avenida Del Fuego in Rio Communities beginning with a visitation on Friday, October 29, 2004, from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Barney Carabajal. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. STACKPOLE -- Vera Stackpole was called by our Lord Monday, October 25, 2004. She was the youngest daughter of Simon and Andrea Duran, born in Chaperito, NM. She married James Richard Stackpole on August 7, 1949 in Las Vegas, NM. She and her husband moved to Albuquerque in 1953. She was a lifelong Roman Catholic and a member of Risen Savior Catholic Church. Vera belonged to the Blue Army, the Altar Rosary Society and Casa Angelica Auxiliary. She was always charitable and generous to those in need. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed her children and spoiling her grandchildren. Vera is preceded in death by her husband, James; sisters and brother: Melecia Delgado, Petra Duran, Celia Madrid, Dora Martinez, Tomasita Cashmere, Magdalena Gallegos, Mela Caputo and Toni Duran, and only brother, Apolonio Duran. She is survived by her daughters: Linda Stackpole of Albuquerque and fiancee, Steve Harris of Chilhowie, VA, Anna Marie Guillen and husband, Vincent of Albuquerque; sons: Butch Stackpole and wife, Johanna of Sedillo, NM, Noel Stackpole and John Stackpole of Albuquerque; grandchildren: Kimberley Ortega of Phoenix, AZ, Katrina Stackpole, James Robert Stackpole and Joseph Noel Stackpole of Sedillo, NM. Numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives also survive her. Visitations will take place on Thursday, October 28, 2004 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options. A Rosary will be prayed on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options. VALENZUELA -- Eli G. Valenzuela, Jr. went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2004 at the age of 61. He was born on April 18, 1943 in Alpine, Texas. He is survived by his father Elijio M. Valenzuela, Sr.; son, Kevin Valenzuela and wife, Aimee; daughter, Janelle Valenzuela-Apodaca and husband, Lorenzo; brothers, Santiago Valenzuela, Sammy Valenzuela and wife, Rachel, Frank Valenzuela and wife, Diane, and Lorenzo Valenzuela and wife, Elizabeth; sisters, Annabell Leach and husband, Dean, Ortencia Gallegos and husband, Gene, Clara Casiano and husband, Ariel, Elena Zamora and husband, Jacque, and Ester Valenzuela; girlfriend, Vivian Taylor; ex-wife, Gloria Grace Valenzuela; and his grandchildren, Matthew Eli Valenzuela, Jada Valenzuela, Kyle Apodaca, and Isabella Apodaca. Eli will be deeply missed by his loving family. Visitations will be held on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. TORRES -- Laura Jean Torres, age 49, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque's South Valley, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter was suddenly taken from us to go to Heaven on Tuesday morning, October 19, 2004. She was a member of St. Edwin Parish and was employed at John's Place, located in downtown Albuquerque for many years. Laura was born on Wednesday, March 30, 1955 to James H. Buckman and Alby Buckman. She was one of three sisters. Laura was preceded in death by her mother, Alby Buckman; her twin boys, Adrian Torres and Adam Torres; her sister, Emily Buckman; and her long time companion, Gilbert Baldonado. Laura is survived by her two sons, Dennis J. Torres and wife, Tanya of Las Vegas, NV and Albert G. Torres and loving companion, Jolene Fowner of Albuquerque; loving grandchildren, Kassandra Angelic Torres of Las Vegas, NV, Maritza Gabriella Torres of Las Vegas, NV, and Marcus Anthony Torres of Albuquerque; sister Katherine "Punky" Gutierrez and loving husband, Tony of Albuquerque; niece, Emily Ann Gallegos of Albuquerque; nephew, Eric James Buckman of Albuquerque; and step-daughters, Josie Baldonado and Tina Marie Baldonado. Laura will also be missed by many of her dear friends, aunts and uncles, and acquaintances who visited her on a daily basis. Laura always cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her life revolved around her children and family, and her door was always open to family and friends any time of day. She especially loved bingo, novellas, oldie music, and went to concerts featuring oldie performers any chance she could. She was always a person anyone could talk to when they had problems or go to for advice. She was extremely proud of her sons and grandchildren; her cheerful and loving personality will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to any Wells Fargo Bank in memory of Laura Torres.
