Veronica Blake, 64, a resident of Belen, peacefully joined our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 27, 2004. Veronica was the beloved daughter of the late Jose Abran and Odelia Barela, and beloved daughter-in-law of the late John and Antonia Blake, and grandmother of the late Katherine Ortega, and beloved wife of Louis Blake of 44 years; beloved mother of Geraldine Gallegos and her husband, Jerry of Albuquerque, NM; Karen Carrillo and her husband, John of Belen; Wendy Lynch and her husband, Jessie of Belen; Sharon Blake; and Carol Sanchez and her husband, Henry of Bosque, NM; and a loving and devoted grandmother of Dionne, Eric, John, Antoinette, Kimberly, Ashley, Matthew, Isaiah, Faith, John Jr., and her loving great granddaughter, Larissa; loving sister of her ten siblings, Ramon Barela and his wife, Eva; Maria Thomas and her husband, Jim; Clory and Robert Gabaldon; Fidel Barela and his wife, Anna; Jerry Barela and his wife, Priscilla; Lawrence Barela and his wife, Edna; Berna Vigil and her husband, Rey; Porfie Barela; and Doreen Carrillo and her husband, Ronald. Veronica also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Abundant Life Christian Center 105 Avenida Del Fuego in Rio Communities beginning with a visitation on Friday, October 29, 2004, from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Barney Carabajal. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her sister, Angie Cano; her brothers, Ramon, Fidel, Jerry, Lawrence, and Profie Barela, and her grandsons, Eric and John Blake. Romero Funeral Home 609 N. Main St. Belen.
