Baca -- Joe E. Baca, 78, went home to be with the Lord on July 25, 2002. He was born on November 9, 1923 in Albuquerque, NM. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard in World War II. Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Esther Baca, sisters, Esther Lopez and Bennie Candelaria and brother, Prospero Baca. He is survived by his sons, Ernest Ben Baca and wife, Ernestina, Cruz Baca and wife, Lucy, Steve Baca and wife, Irene, Anthony Baca and wife, Charlene, Andrew Baca and wife, Veronica and David Baca and wife, Barbara; daughters, Judy Villas and husband, Nestor and Lillian Dow and husband, Walter; sister, Isabel Lamphere and husband, Roger;, eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Joe was especially proud of all his children and was the foundation of his family. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited following at 7:00 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Final viewing will be held on Monday morning at San Jose Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Fr. Richard Olona at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ernest Villas, Cruz Baca, Thad Barros, Steven Baca, Eric Barros, Aaron Barros, Jason Baca, Matthew Baca and David Baca. Coppedge -- Eugene Victor Coppedge, 81, of Tijeras, NM, passed away Friday, July 26, 2002. Gene was born to Homer Walter & Effie Katie Lee Coppedge on April 1, 1921 in Gadston, AZ. Along with his six brothers and three sisters he was raised in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII as an Electrician's Mate Second Class aboard the USS Montpelier, the flagship of the longest sea battle in the Pacific. The Montpelier was honored with 13 battle stars, the most of any Cruiser in its class. Gene remarked his service aboard the Montpelier was"the grandest adventure of my life." Gene was married to Earnestene Bigham in Medford, Oregon on October 7, 1945. Together they lovingly raised four children and are the proud grandparents to nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Gene made his family a priority and provided to them every opportunity of love and support. Along with his wife of over 56 years they have spent their golden years in Tijeras, New Mexico. As an active member of the First Baptist Church of Tijeras, Gene enjoyed working in the community food pantry and gave of his many talents to minister to his church and his many close Christian brothers and sisters there. Gene worked in the oil fields in New Mexico, Texas, South America and Scotland. He retired as a District Manager for Christensen Diamond Products Company in 1981 after 27 years with the company. Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Earnestene and three children, Michael Coppedge and wife, Caryn of Albuquerque, NM, Teresa Almand and husband, Darwin of Midland, TX, and Steven Coppedge and wife, Jayna of Tahlequah, OK. He is also survived by five siblings, Gladys Williamson and Oneal Coppedge both of Hobbs, NM, Lovene Moore of Eunice, NM, Harold Coppedge of Geneva, FL, and Joe Coppedge of Springerville, AZ. Known to his grandchildren as 'Pepa', Gene prized them all: Sheila, Tom and wife, Kathryn, Robert and wife, Amanda, Julie, Kathleen, Ryan, Darla, Laura, Tyler and great-granddaughter, Avery. Preceding him in death are his parents, a daughter, Judith Whittemore, and siblings, Herman Coppedge, A.T. Coppedge, James Coppedge and Pansy White. Gene also leaves many close friends and relatives that will miss him greatly. He is with his Lord in Glory and is celebrating a reunion of many family and friends that have gone on to be with Jesus before him. Visitation for family and friends will be held at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Sunday, July 28, 2002, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Funeral Services will be held at Monday, July 29, 2002,10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Tijeras, with interment at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Alderete -- Danny Walter Alderete was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico September 15, 1947 and passed away July 22, 2002. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. Danny proudly served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was loyal to his country. Having been wounded twice, he received two Purple Hearts and numerous other medals of commendation. Danny was preceded in death by his father, Neddy; and is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Rita Alderete of the family home in Albuquerque; three daughters, Julie Padilla, D'Ana Alderete, and Danielle Alderete; one son, Daniel Alderete; his mother, Genevieve Alderete of Los Lunas; sisters, Helen Gallegos, Kathy Parra and husband, Michael; brothers, David Alderete, Neddy Alderete Jr. and wife, Theresa; grandchildren, Alexandria Aguilar and Avarie Gallegos; numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at Montgomery Place Church of God, 3601 Montgomery NE., at Carlisle. A viewing and prayer service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2002 at 9:00am, with Pastors Richard Mansfield and Ernest McBride officiating. Gassman -- Ian Alexander Gassman, seven months, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, lost his battle for life on July 23, 2002. He was born on December 19, 2001 and spent all but nine days of his short life in Presbyterian Hospital. He put up a courageous fight for seven wonderful months of life. During that time, he was a great joy to his family and touched many people's hearts. Ian was born with a condition called gastroschisis which ultimately resulted in End-Stage Liver Disease. He was awaiting a life saving, liver and small bowel transplant at the time of his death. Ian is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Barbara Gassman; his older brother, John Walter Gassman; his maternal grandparents, Jack and Dolores Lovato, all of Los Lunas; his paternal grandmother Irma Gassman of Tucumcari, NM; his Uncles and Aunts, John and Yvonne Lovato, of Los Lunas; Ken and LeeAnn Burke of Carlsbad, NM; and his cousins, Lauren and Makaela Lovato of Los Lunas; Kendyl and Richard Jacob of Carlsbad. He is also survived by his many great uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends that loved him dearly. All services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A visitation will take place on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 26, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the San Clemente Cemetery. Siglock -- Lucille M. Siglock a resident of Los Alamos since 1950, died Monday, July 22, 2002. She was born January 13, 1904 to John Mason and Mary Ellen Maguire in St. Louis, Missouri. Mrs. Siglock was loving, compassionate, generous, a real lady, creative, and had many interests. She was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Walter E. Siglock; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie Adele and William Youngberg; and one grandson, Donald Siglock. She will be greatly missed by two daughters, Patricia Hinrichs and husband, Don and Jane Siglock; one son, Walter J. Siglock and wife, Beverly; 13 grandhcildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous other friends and relatives. Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 26, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Burial will follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery. Keulen -- Katarina Alida Keulen passed away Friday morning at 3:30 a.m. local time. She immigrated to the USA from The Netherlands with her husband in 1959 and became a citizen in 1965. In 1966, she helped create our home in the East Mountain area, which would have been a lot harder without her help and encouragement. She was a long time resident in the East Mountains and an avid member of Edelweiss Am Rio Grande for many years. Her support of her family was outstanding, as was her wonderful sense of humor. She had been residing in a nursing home in The Netherlands for the last nine years due to an affliction with Alzheimer's disease, which rendered her unable to speak American any longer. Her husband, Johannes Keulen, of 48 years preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by her daughter, Alida Lenox and her husband, Walter Lenox; her son, Fred Keulen and his wife, Linda Keulen; her grandchildren Jody Spurgeon, Kathy O'Conner, Sarah Keulen, Daniel Keulen and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service and cremation will take place in The Netherlands and her ashes will be shipped to the USA after the Dutch law requirement of 30 days delay has been met. An additional service will be held in the USA shortly after arrival of her remains. Any parties interested in attending that service are invited to call Fred Keulen at 286-4646 around the middle of August.

Dodson -- Walter W. Dodson, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Albuquerque on Sunday morning, July 14, 2002. A resident of Albuquerque for thirty-two years, he was employed by Forest Products until his retirement in 1984. A member of the American Legion, Mr. Dodson, served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. Survivors include Margaret, his beloved wife of sixty-two years; his son, Robert Dodson and wife, Susan of Anthem, AZ; his son, Jerry Dodson and wife, Glynda of Thoreau, NM; his daughter, Linda Dodson of Sherman Oaks, CA; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Myrtle Illum of Illinois; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Mr. Dodson was a longtime member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2002, with Rev. Charles Price officiating. The church is located at 2626 Arizona NE, just north of Menaul. Lopez -- Margie Maes Lopez a long time resident of Los Lunas, passed away peacefully, after a long illness, on Friday, July 12, 2002. She was born to loving parents on November 3, 1942 in Belen, New Mexico. Margie was a fun loving person who touched the lives of so many with her beautiful smile and giving soul. She shared her faith in God and love for life with her family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband, Mike Lopez; her children, Joylene Tafoya, Pamela Pagano, Robin Salias and John S. Tafoya; her parents Richard and Bertha Lovato of Belen; her five sisters: Marylou Ortega and husband Tino, of Albuquerque; Dolores Montano and husband Hilario, of Belen; Viola Maes Lucero, of Albuquerque; Cora Griego and husband Macario, of Tijeras; and Helen Chavez and husband Nick, of New Jersey; by her in-laws: Lydia Perez; Andrew and MaryAnn Lopez; Leon and Toni Lopez; Raymer and Nancy Jaramillo; Johnny and Berna Lopez; Cora Lopez; Bernadette Lopez; Lee Gonzales; and Lawrence Gonzales; her step brothers and sisters, Kate, Cirio, Betty, Gilbert, Rosendo, and Arthur Lovato. She loved and treasured her grandchildren, Ricarda Mendoza, Alicia Dominquez, Brandy Dominquez, a special grandson she raised Christopher Tafoya, Christina Tafoya, Rhiannon Montoya, Manuel Salias, Marianita Salias, Jeremy Vigil, Joshua Andrade and John Tafoya Jr.; great grandchildren, Dominic, Christopher, Amber, Angelic, Joseph, Margarito, Alexandra, and Walter. She was preceded in death by her daughter Dorothy Dominguez in 1998, her granddaughter Maggie Mae Dominguez in 1995, her brother Jimmy W. Maes in 1986 and her father Prudencio E. Maes in 1965. Cremation has taken place. A family visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:30pm until 7:00pm in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 pm, her nephew, Pastor Anthony Maes will preside. Gabaldon Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.
