Alderete -- Danny Walter Alderete was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico September 15, 1947 and passed away July 22, 2002. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. Danny proudly served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was loyal to his country. Having been wounded twice, he received two Purple Hearts and numerous other medals of commendation. Danny was preceded in death by his father, Neddy; and is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Rita Alderete of the family home in Albuquerque; three daughters, Julie Padilla, D'Ana Alderete, and Danielle Alderete; one son, Daniel Alderete; his mother, Genevieve Alderete of Los Lunas; sisters, Helen Gallegos, Kathy Parra and husband, Michael; brothers, David Alderete, Neddy Alderete Jr. and wife, Theresa; grandchildren, Alexandria Aguilar and Avarie Gallegos; numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at Montgomery Place Church of God, 3601 Montgomery NE., at Carlisle. A viewing and prayer service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2002 at 9:00am, with Pastors Richard Mansfield and Ernest McBride officiating. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery 11:30 a.m. with military honors. Pallbearers will be Phillip Gallegos, Anthony Valdez, Steven Alderete Juan Garcia, Phillip McBride, Anthony Parra, and Angelo Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters D'Ana Alderete, Danielle Alderete, Alexandria Aguilar and Avarie Gallegos. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW.
