Alderete -- Danny Walter Alderete was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico September 15, 1947 and passed away July 22, 2002. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. Danny proudly served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was loyal to his country. Having been wounded twice, he received two Purple Hearts and numerous other medals of commendation. Danny was preceded in death by his father, Neddy; and is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Rita Alderete of the family home in Albuquerque; three daughters, Julie Padilla, D'Ana Alderete, and Danielle Alderete; one son, Daniel Alderete; his mother, Genevieve Alderete of Los Lunas; sisters, Helen Gallegos, Kathy Parra and husband, Michael; brothers, David Alderete, Neddy Alderete Jr. and wife, Theresa; grandchildren, Alexandria Aguilar and Avarie Gallegos; numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at Montgomery Place Church of God, 3601 Montgomery NE., at Carlisle. A viewing and prayer service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2002 at 9:00am, with Pastors Richard Mansfield and Ernest McBride officiating. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery 11:30 a.m. with military honors. Pallbearers will be Phillip Gallegos, Anthony Valdez, Steven Alderete Juan Garcia, Phillip McBride, Anthony Parra, and Angelo Garcia. Amparan -- Francisco J."Quico" Amparan, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Monday, July 22, 2002 at the age of 80. He is survived by his loving wife, Adelfa Amparan; daughters, Erlinda Sedillo and husband, Solomon, Victoria Muller and husband, Avelino, Diana Slopek and husband, Jeff, Eunice Ortega and husband, Albert, and Rosa Amparan; sons, Edmundo and wife, Kimberly, Victor and wife, Sylvia, Raul and wife, Linda, and David Amparan; 30 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Javier Francisco. Francisco was born in Camargo Chihuahua, Mexico on December 2, 1921. He married Adelfa Tercero on January 27, 1951. They started their family in Carlsbad, NM where five of their children were born then moved to Albuquerque in 1957 where their other five children were born. Francisco worked very hard as a cement finisher for over 30 years. Before retirement, he worked for the NM Contractors Association while running his own business with his sons, Amparan and Sons. He was very proud of his sons wanting to be just like him. He was very talented and enjoyed getting together with all of his family and friends, to sing and play his guitar. Music was his passion. When he showed up to a party, everyone always wanted the honor of enjoying his beautiful voice and wonderful talent of playing the guitar. He was very proud of all of his children and always wanted to have them play in an orchestra. Our brother, Edmundo, is carrying on his love of music. He played with various Mariachi groups, and sang with a Trio. He started his own group Frank and Sus Latinos and also played with Los Troubadores Trio. He was director of the Spanish Choir for many years. On Sundays, he enjoyed singing and playing the guitar for the Spanish Mass at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church. This past Sunday, the Lord allowed him to play his guitar one last time for him and his parish family. He lived a very fulfilling life surrounded by his loving wife, Adelfa"Fita" who cared for him with so much love everyday. They were always together enjoying each other and all of his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. The house was always full of children running around and his girls always gave him a smile from ear to ear. He always encouraged all of his children and grandchildren to speak the beautiful Spanish language. He was a very kind, humble, loving, and respected man who will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, July 24, 2002, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, Lomas at Tennessee. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 25, 2002, 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, Lomas at Tennessee. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Blackwell -- Stanley A. Blackwell, age 39, and a resident of Las Cruces, passed away July 20, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Blackwell; son, Christopher of Virginia; daughters, Ashley, Elizabeth and Devin; parents, Stanley and Lola Blackwell of Albuquerque; brother, Marcus of Las Cruces; sister, Staley Seidler of Albuquerque. Bocko -- Wilma Rachel Bocko, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since July 1953, died on July 18, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Dan Bocko of Albuquerque; son, Lewis K. Spring and wife, Susan; daughter in law, Paulette Jefferson; grandchildren, Kelly Jo Bassham, Rebecca Jo Spring, Tammy Lou Hickman, Jennifer Spring, Jessica Spring, Michele Barry, Melissa Spellman and one grandson, Steven Cobb; a brother, Dewey Lewis and wife, Dorothy of Amarillo, TX. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Levi L. Spring; her son, Jonathan David Spring, and her sisters, Lillian and Mamie and brother, Frank Lewis. She was a graduate of Southwestern State College, Durant, Oklahoma and taught school in Oklahoma for ten years prior to entering the profession in New Mexico in 1953. Following her arrival in Albuquerque she taught second grade at Bel-Air Elementary School for twenty-six years. She spent the school year 1970-71 teaching second grade for the Anchorage Burroughs School System of Anchorage, Alaska. She was an active participant in the Albuquerque Public Schools Classroom Teachers Association and the National Education Association prior to her retirement from the Albuquerque Public Schools in 1983. Wilma participated in various professional organizations and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, an organization for professional women educators. She was truly dedicated to the education of children and youth through the promotion of self worth and dignity of the individual. Wilma was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho and a community sponsor for various charitable and civic groups. Above all else she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and true friend. Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, 3906 19th Ave. SE with Pastor Si Budagher officiating. Capps -- Afton Capps, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died Monday, July 22, 2002. She is survived by her sons, Terry Capps and wife, Helen of Jemez Pueblo, Earl Capps and wife, Kacey of Greenfield, WI, and David Capps and wife, Deedie of Thornton, CO; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Della Allred of Duncan, AZ, LaVerd Gunter of Tempe, AZ; and brother, Dean Johnson of Conchas, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Berry Capps in February 2001. Mrs. Capps was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Manzano Ward. Carillo -- Sarah S. Carrillo, 70, a lifelong resident of Veguita, has been called by the Lord on July 22, 2002. She was born to loving parents, Cristobal and Demetria Chavez on January 25, 1932. She was a member of the San Juan Catholic Church in Veguita. Sarah was a very compassionate person; she loved working in her garden and with her flowers and farm animals. She touched the lives of so many (near & far) with her hospitality and home cooking. She had a heart of gold. Preceding her in death were her parents, Cristobal and Demetria Chavez; three sisters, Eunice Chavez, Virginia Presiani, Isabel Melbihess and Della Miranda; and her brother, Estaban Manuel Chavez. Culp -- Jean A. Culp, born April 4, 1926, in Bearden, Arkansas, passed away July 19, 2002. She is survived by her five children, Dr. Charles H. Culp, III, and wife, Bonnie of College Station, TX; Marcia Haney and husband, Thomas Clifford W. Culp and wife, Gabriela, Robert E. Culp and wife, Laura, all of Albuquerque, and Melissa J. Burns of Houston, TX; 14 grandchildren, Michelle Bratton, Charles Culp IV, Patrick Haney, Megan Haney, Michaela Haney, Meredith Haney, Olivia Culp, Chris Culp, Nicholaus Culp, Sara Culp, Justin Culp, Michael Culp, Richard Burns, and Benjamin Burns; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Emily Nelle Mirise. She was an incredible mother and grandmother. She raised five children on her own and was one of the first women to attain the position of Chief of Mortgage Credit at HUD/FHA. She always lived her life full of love, kindness, and generosity. She was an avid gardener and was famous for her wonderful peaches, tomatoes, and mimosa trees. Her best times were spent out in her yard. She was a truly beautiful person. She will be missed greatly by her loving family. Farquhar -- Cecil M. Farquhar, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Sunday, July 21, 2002. Karns -- Patricia A. Karns, 70, a resident of Placitas, died Monday, July 22, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Phil J. Kelly -- David L. Kelly, 50, from Glenwood, NM passed away in Albuquerque on July 21, 2002 after a brief hospital stay. He was born in Silver City to Lewis and Genevieve Kelly and has lived in the area most of his life. Survivors include father, Lewis Kelly of Glenwood, NM; daughter, Nicole; and granddaughter, Camron Hickle of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Nancy Reijonen of Portland, OR, and Patsy Wach of Tauton, Massachusetts; brother, Lewis W. Kelly of Rio Rancho, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. His mother, Genevieve Atwood Kelly precedes him in death. David attended school in Silver City and graduated from high school in Reserve, NM. He worked in the mining industry for most of his life and at the time of his death, was residing with his father in Glenwood. Services include the Rosary, which will be held on July 24, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at the Catholic Church in Reserve. The Funeral Mass will be on July 25, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with Graveside Services following. Pallbearers are Frank Hickle, Clay Atwood, Wayne Shelhorn, Auge Shelhorn, Michael Garcia, and George Reed.

Lansdowne -- Mabel R. Lansdowne, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, July 21, 2002. She is survived by her son, John Lansdowne and his wife, Betty of Albuquerque; her grandson, DeAndre Lansdowne; her brother, Howard Hess of Denver, CO; her sister-in-law, Ethel Lansdowne of Tamarac, FL; her brother-in-law, Frank Lansdowne of Grand Prairie, TX; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald S. Lansdowne, in December 2000. Mabel was born in Union City, NJ on June 16, 1913 to Ruth and William Hess. For many years she worked in New York City and in New Jersey as a bookkeeper. While working for Sun Insurance Company in New York City, she met her husband, Reginald, and they married in 1939. While their early years together were interrupted by the war, they enjoyed sixty years of marriage. They moved to Albuquerque in 1993. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 noon, Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Montoya -- Benny Montoya, 78, went home to be with the Lord on July 22, 2002. He was born on March 19, 1924 in Cuba, NM. Benny is preceded in death by Rosella Montoya and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucy Montoya; son, Mike Montoya and wife, Nancy of Lahaina, HI; daughter, Katherine Viola Gonzalez and husband, Alfredo; grandchildren, Michael Jeffrey Montoya and Alexis Gonzalez. Nelson -- Kae Nelson, of Albuquerque, passed away on July 20, 2002. She was nearing her 71st birthday, having been born on July 28, 1931 in Duluth, MN. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harold. They were married in Minneapolis, MN on June 23, 1951. She is also survived by four children: daughters Susan Nustad and her husband Rob of Owatonna, MN; Salli Nelson and her husband Bruce Donaldson of Chandler, AZ; Sandy Ilii and her husband Vince of Bloomington, MN; and by her son Jim Nelson and his wife Jo of Zhangjiakou, China. Kae is also survived by five grandchildren: Beth, Tim, Monica, Sammi Jo, and Nick. Kae and Harold were residents of Bloomington, MN for 32 years. They moved to Albuquerque in 1986, to Dallas in 1990, and back to Albuquerque in 2000. Kae had attended the University of Minnesota. She had worked as an office manager and bookkeeper. She was a devoted Christian with a strong Lutheran background. In Albuquerque, she and Harold were members of First United Methodist Church and its Two Som Sunday School class. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 4th & Lead, Albuquerque, on Wednesday, July 24, at 10:00 am with Dr. Terry Anderson officiating. Pecha -- Diana Estella Britton Pecha, 87, of Albuquerque, died July 20, 2002. She was born in Big Rapids, Michigan, May 30th, 1915. Diana had seven brothers. She was the only daughter of Ethel and John Q. Britton. Diana and her husband, Clifford Pecha, and children, Connie and James moved to Albuquerque in 1950. Diana was a professional artist. Her works won many awards and are in collections throughout the United States. She was a life member of the National League of Pen Women, Yucca Branch, and served as their chaplain. She studied art at the University of New Mexico. Her southwestern landscapes, portraits and still-life paintings are treasured by many. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Albuquerque. Robledo -- Robert Joseph"Robbie" Robledo, 18, passed peacefully in his sleep Monday, July 22, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Lola Neudecker and Frank Harding; stepbrother, Ryan Harding; grandparents, Lupe and Joseph Neudecker and Frank and Teresa Harding. He is also survived by his father, Robert O. Robledo, and the Robledo family of El Paso, Texas. He was loved by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends who cherish his memory and will miss him greatly. A 2002 Graduate of Albuquerque High School, Robbie enjoyed his family, his school, work and his co-workers, and his friends. He loved going to the movies and listening to music, he liked to swim, to ski, and his favorite Peanuts character was Snoopy. He had fun over the years at Camp Enchantment, the American Cancer Society's annual camp for children with cancer, and the family would like to thank their staff. Robbie participated in life, filling his with many happy experiences in the time he had. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE. Sandoval -- Corina Bernardita, 93, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Friend, who lived a really good and pure life, passed away July 21, 2002. She was born January 28, 1909 in La Cueva, New Mexico to Dionicio and Fidelina Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel O.; son Samuel D.; daughter Christella; and son David. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Matilda; son Secundino and wife Stella; daughter Clara Garcia and husband Meliton; son Abad and wife Florence; daughter Margaret Aragon and husband Fred. She was deeply loved by 20 grandchildren, Robert, Martha, Jimmy, Donald, Christella, Mark, Anna, Danny, Frances, Orlando, Maria Elena, Juan, Teri, Sheryl, Dina, Melina, Miguel, Ricardo, Carlos and Mario. She was also loved by 35 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Sheldon -- David Caleb Sheldon, was born on February 2, 1928 in Hancock, MI and died on Friday, July 19, 2002 in Albuquerque, NM. He was a devoted and loving father and friend who will be deeply missed. He is survived by, Grace Sheldon, his wife of 54 years, their sons David Churchill Sheldon and wife Cathy of Sandy, UT; Daniel Stuart Sheldon and wife Linda of Johnstown, CO; John Christopher Sheldon and wife Kathleen of Las Vegas, NV; and daughter Josephine Ann Jackson and husband Eric of Corona, CA. David was blessed with eleven grandchildren. Brittney, Brienne, Cameron, Amy, Matthew, Adam, Jessica, Zane, Luke, Nakeisha, and Danica. He is also survived by his sister Alice Sheldon of Albuquerque and his brother Tom and his wife Diane of Cedar Crest, NM. Also, by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Churchill G. and Josephine Coughlin Sheldon, his brother, Stephen Sheldon and his sisters, Eleanor Sheldon, Elizabeth Sheldon Maloney, Mary Sheldon Bentley, and Julianne Sheldon Sheehan. David moved with his family to Salt Lake City, UT at the age of 7. He served in the military during World War II. He graduated from the University of Utah with a BS degree in Marketing. He retired from General Electric Corporation, Major Appliance Division, in 1988 after 33 years. He was a member of St. Bernadette's Parish since 1973 and was their Business Manager for 14 years. He was Intermountain Director for the National Ski Patrol; Ski Patrol Leader at Alta Ski Resort in Alta, UT; and Past President of Toastmasters International, in Pocatello, Idaho. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, July 23, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Lomas Blvd. Chapel. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 23, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 24, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Father Scott Mansfield celebrating. Siglock -- Lucille M. Siglock a resident of Los Alamos since 1950, died Monday, July 22, 2002. She was born January 13, 1904 to John Mason and Mary Ellen Maguire in St. Louis, Missouri. Mrs. Siglock was loving, compassionate, generous, a real lady, creative, and had many interests. She was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Walter E. Siglock; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie Adele and William Youngberg; and one grandson, Donald Siglock. She will be greatly missed by two daughters, Patricia Hinrichs and husband, Don and Jane Siglock; one son, Walter J. Siglock and wife, Beverly; 13 grandhcildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous other friends and relatives. Tafoya -- Mrs. Miquelita N. (Mickey) Tafoya, 69, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on Monday, July 22, 2002. Mrs. Tafoya is the beloved wife of 51 years to Mr. Amarante Tafoya; her children, Eugene Tafoya, Lorraine Sanchez, Gladys Apodaca and husband, Dan, Tommy Tafoya, Gino and Angela Tafoya; three brothers, Fred Fernandez, Steve Fernandez and Bonifacio Fernandez; four sisters, Felia Maestas, Eloisa Maestas, Mary Torres and Jenny Medina; four grandchildren, Freddy Sanchez, Nathan Sanchez, Daniel Apodaca and Christopher Apodaca; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Tafoya was a member of the Catholic Church. Van Deusen -- Wright Van Deusen passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 20, 2002. He was born in Albuquerque August 18, 1929 to Wright and Katharine Van Deusen. He graduated from UNM, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and Editor of the Daily Lobo. He then served in the Navy and returned to Albuquerque as a sports writer for the Tribune. He found his career at Sandia National Laboratories, where he worked in the field of classification for 29 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Creager and husband, Kenneth of Kenmore, WA; son, Stuart Van Deusen and wife, Patricia of Albuquerque; three grandsons, Ian Van Deusen, Kyle Creager and Ryan Creager; and best friend, Betsy Schultz. Wright loved his family and was proud of his grandsons. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home and fishing and camping in the New Mexico mountains. He was a kind, caring and considerate person who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Weiler -- Ann Weiler was born in South Bend, IN on August 10, 1923 into a family of nine kids, and passed away July 23, 2002 in Albuquerque, NM. She went through hard times during the Depression but found and married a wonderful man, Sam Caspano. Together they had two loving daughters; and four delightful grandchildren. Four years after Sam went home to see the Lord, Ann met another wonderful man, Bob Weiler, and married him in 1986. Together with Bob's three loving children and three delightful grandchildren, Ann's family grew to love and care for one another. Now she is in Heaven united with all those who predeceased her and awaits a large glorious family reunion. She is survived by husband, Bob Weiler of Albuquerque; daughter, Sandy Caspano of Denver; and two grandsons, Patrick Turnock and wife, Trish Kaminski of Denton, TX and Kevin Turnock and wife, Susan of Silver Spring, MD; daughter, Carol Scussel and husband, Ed of Albuquerque; and granddaughter, Samantha Scussel of Charlottesville, VA; and grandson, David Scussel of Albuquerque; sisters, Rose Miles of Las Vegas, NV, and Dorothy Collier of Wayland, MI; sister-in-law, Fran Fischer of Mishawka, IN; step-daughter, Lorrie Tolbert and husband, Bemmy of Tijeras, NM; step-granddaughter, Stacey Sullivan; and step-grandson, John Sullivan of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Linda Edwards of Peoria, AZ; step-granddaughter, Melissa Shultz of Albuquerque; step-son, Forrest"Woody" Weiler of Clovis, NM.
