Van Hammond -- Earl Van Hammond, 73, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, February 24, 2000. He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Ann Van Hammond of Albuquerque; children, Daniel J. Van Hammond and wife, Vickie of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Kathy Pointer and husband, Jeff of Albuquerque and Tony Van Hammond and wife, Cathy of Appleton, WI; grandchildren, Joseph, Christine, David, Samuel, Jacob, Amber and Bethany; sisters, Angeline Van de Berg and husband, Bill and Josephine Sanderfoot, all of Kimberly, WI; sisters-in-law, Wilma Van Hammond of Kimberly, WI and Myrtle Van Hammond of Appleton, WI; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Christine; brothers, Jack, Joe and Clarence; and sister, Martha. Mr. Van Hammond was a member of Our Lady of Annunciation Church. Armijo -- Fannie (Stefania) Mlekush-Armijo (Mann), 89, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2000. She was born April 10, 1910 in Pluzna, Austria to Mathais Anton Mlekush and Elizabeth Roth-Mlekush. She loved her garden, especially her roses, iris and dahlias. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. She never met a stranger. She is survived by her sons, Dewey Mann Jr. and wife, Charlotte, Philip A. Mann and wife, Joan, Eddie Mann and Leon P. Armijo, all of Albuquerque; daughter, Lorraine F. Armijo-Bratt and husband, David of Tulare, CA; sister, Alice Mlekush-Garnas of Canadian, TX; sisters-in-law, Mildred Mlekush of Pollock Pines, CA and Marcella Armijo-Bachicha of Albuquerque; brothers, Albert Mlekush of Modesto, CA, Anthony J. Dahl -- Georgianna Wright Hartzell Dahl, a past resident of Albuquerque and most recently of Boulder, CO, died at home January 26th. She was 67. A Memorial service was held February 3rd at Cornerstone Church of Boulder Valley in Boulder, CO. Georgianna was born February 27, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN. She was a direct descendent of Abraham Clark, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Sciences in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota, where she also served as an instructor in Natural Sciences. She continued her graduate education with courses in Music History at Harvard University. From 1954 to 1958 she worked at Harvard University Medical School performing follow-up studies of cardiac surgery patients. Georgianna moved to New Mexico in 1968. During the 1970's and 80's she served as Executive Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Opera Guild of the Santa Fe Opera, Education Chairman for the Santa Fe Opera, and was on the Board of Directors of the Albuquerque Opera Theater. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Fine Arts Ministry of Downtown Albuquerque, the American Association of University Women, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Newcomers' Club of Evergreen, CO. Most recently Georgianna was active in community bible studies and a co-founder of the women's group in Boulder. She is survived by her husband, James, Boulder, CO; two sisters, Mary Fritz, Belleville, WI, and Emily Dewhirst, Knoxville, TN; a daughter, Elizabeth, Denver, CO; and three sons, Stephen, Bethesda, MD, Timothy, Denver, CO and David, Boulder, CO. Contributions may be made in her name to the education fund of Cornerstone Church of Boulder Valley, 1190 S. Broadway, Boulder, CO 80303.

Garcia -- Sabino G. Garcia, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2000, in the comfort of his home with many family members at his side. He was born January 4, 1922 in Los Angeles, CA, where he attended various Christian schools, later moved to New Mexico, where he attended El Rito Normal School. He was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion for New Mexico in 1939, served in the U.S. Marines, the National Guard, 27 years in the U.S. Army, and retired from Sandia Laboratories at Kirtland. He fought in WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Cold War. He was honored by the Governor, appointed the position of Colonel, Aide-de-Camp in 1959 and 1987. He served as D.A.V. State Commander in 1990 and 1991, and was a member of Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice V. Garcia; sons, Francisco F. Garcia II and wife, Terry of Albuquerque, Federico A. Garcia of Albuquerque; daughter, Cassandra Snyder and husband, Kevin of Santa Fe, TX; grandchildren, Michelle Marie Bergevin of Mesa, AZ, Stacy Lynn Wingate of League City, TX, Alicia Elizabeth Garcia of Albuquerque, Victoria Marie Garcia of Albuquerque, Alan and Jason Snyder of Santa FE, TX; great-grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Pratt of Mesa, AZ, Bailey Lynn Bergevin of Mesa, AZ, Cody James Crubaugh of Mesa, AZ, Bryane Michelle DeBaylo of League City, TX, Ashlyne Nicole Bulot of League City, TX, Tristan Patrick Ryan Bulot of League City, TX; family and friends who loved and will miss him. Lopez -- Candelaria (Candy) Lopez, 85, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and sister, was called home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 22, 2000. Mrs. Lopez was born in Corrales and was a resident of Albuquerque; she was a parishioner of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church; Candy retired from the Santa Fe Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Vincent Griego Jr. She is survived by her loving son, Lee Lopez and Isabel; and daughter, Sandra Griego and husband, Vincent; three precious grandchildren, Mary L. DuChaussee and husband, Roger, Willie Griego, and Ruben Griego and wife, Reyna; eight great-grandchildren, Valarie and Andrew Griego of Los Lunas, Fernando and Kimberly Griego, David and Alexander DuChaussee, Tiffany Oselio and Paul Griego, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are one brother, Tony Tenerio and wife, Vera; four sisters, Mary Richardson and husband, Billy, Josephine Montoya of Rio Rancho, Barbara Baca and Emily Lucero, both of California; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. A very special thanks is extended to the Ruth Hanna Nursing Staff, who took very good care of Mrs. Lopez for the last month. Byron -- Ana Luisa (Bayron) Byron, 86, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past seven years, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2000. Ana Luisa was born September 5, 1913, the daughter of Ramon Bayron and Magdalena Bayron-Cruz in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. She retired after 32 years from the garment district in New York City. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ana Luisa Gautier-Bayron; four brothers; and one sister. Ana Luisa is survived by her loving sister, Aurea Virgin Encarnacion-Cruz; nieces, Edmee Julia Encarnacion-Bayron, Mary Madeleine Newman and husband, Michael, Carmen Luisa DeJesus, Gladys DeJesus; nephews, Ramon Enrique Encarnacion-Bayron, Rafael Bayron; grandniece, Mercedes Elena Hernandez; grandnephew, Michael David Newman; great-grandnieces, Cristianne Aurin and Kheisla Edmee Jordan; and many wonderful and caring family and friends in Puerto Rico, Rio Rancho, New York, and Florida.
