Serna -- Mary R. Serna went to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday, February 4, 2000. She was born June 1, 1921 in Calvert, TX to Severo M. and Maria Ruiz. Her loving husband, James H. Serna, preceded her in death. She is survived by her five children, Fred R. Serna, Mary C. Serna, Bernie R. Serna and wife, Linda, Rosario Nieto and husband, Eddie, Marie Serna and fiance, Rene Toledo, all of Albuquerque; brother, Eulalio Ruiz of Albuquerque; sisters, Ramona Walker of Bar Harbor, ME and Florence Angel and husband, Raymond of Carlsbad, CA; grandchildren, Orlena, Mary Ruth, Gabriel and Stephen Serna, Rachel Sotelo, Jimmy, Johnny and Sarita Nieto; numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the following for all their unselfish time and effort in caring for our mother, Vera Moravek, the Home Health Aide, Theresa Padilla, Patricia Serna, and Theresa Torrez, the wonderful and helpful staffs of Presbyterian Hospice, and Dr. Richard Guidice's offices. An evening service will be held Thursday, February 10, 2000, 7:00 p.m., at Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. SW, Albuquerque. Interment and graveside services will be held Friday, February 11, 2000, 10:30 a.m., at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, Albuquerque. Stagg -- Dr. Harry Stagg, 101, a resident of Albuquerque since 1938, died Sunday, February 6, 2000. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Tope and husband, Dwight and Marcia Cantrell, both of Albuquerque; grandsons, Rock Tope and wife, Debbie, James Cantrell, Stephen Cantrell and wife, Beth, Tom Cantrell and wife, Geri, all of Albuquerque, Chris Tope and wife, Dee of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jack Cantrell and wife, Laura of Rio Rancho; granddaughters, Carol Ramel and husband, Greg of Alamogordo; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Basil Stagg of Ball, LA. Dr. Stagg was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Rock Stagg in 1999. He was the Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Gallup from 1925 to 1938; was Executive Director of the Baptist Convention of NM from 1938-1968, and was the Executive Director Emeritus; was the driving force behind the establishment of Glorieta Baptist Assembly; was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albuquerque since 1938; was a member of the Rotary International since 1927; was a past District Governor, a Paul Harris Fellow and a Clinton Anderson Fellow; was a past member of the American Legion; was a member of the D.A.V.; served as District Chaplain for V.F.W.; and received the French Legion Medal of Honor. Services will be held Friday, 1:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 101 Broadway NE, Joseph B. Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Stephen Cantrell, Tom Cantrell, Rock Tope, Chris Tope, Aaron Coffey and Jack Cantrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Tope, Austin Cantrell, James Cantrell, Art Wood, Bill Machen, Dr. Travis Ferguson, H.B. Horn, Truett Sheriff, Dwight Tope and Greg Ramel. Glose -- Eleanor P. Glose, age 90, passed away Monday, February 7, 2000. She had been a resident of Albuquerque for 20 years, coming here to make a home with her daughter. Survivors include her daughter, Winifred Glose of Albuquerque; sons, Richard A. Glose and wife, Patricia of Bethlehem, PA and Charles T. Glose III and wife, Rose of Long Beach, CA; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Barbara Andrews of Lancaster, PA. Mrs. Glose was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Glose Jr. in 1947; her grandson, William in 1988; and her great-grandson, James Richard in 1987. At her request, no services will be held. Donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army, c/o Capt. Jett -- Helen Driscoll Jett, age 94, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday morning. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Jett in 1974. She is survived by her sons, James (Pete) and wife, Vangie of Los Alamos, Michael and wife, Barbara Coracci of Chicago, IL, Dennis and wife, Lunda Schuster of Atlanta, GA, and Paul and Jane Norman of Washington, DC; grandchildren, Stephen and Brian Jett, Kathleen Griego, Allison MacNabb, Andrea, Catherine, Christopher and Noa Jett; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew Griego; sister, Jean Engel of Framingham, Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to KNME-TV, 1130 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. The Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Tuesday in the chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors. Montoya -- Jose R. Montoya, 84, went to be with the Lord, Friday, February 4, 2000. He is survived by his daughters, Monica Harrison and husband, Stan of Los Lunas, Helen Salazar and husband, Alex, Maxine Ramirez and fiancee, Ray Silva, Jeanette Ramirez and husband, Ralph and Therese Maestas, all of Albuquerque; son, Joe A. Montoya and wife, Viola of Santa Fe; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Josie P. Muller of Los Lunas; and many wonderful loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emena in 1988; sister, Martha Flores; and brother, Daniel Montoya. Jose was a wonderful father, grandfather, teacher and friend and was a very strong believer in our Lord. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Our Saviour, 2805 Don Felipe SW, with Rev. Harold L. Trott officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Parker -- Evelyn Beeson Parker, a longtime resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died quietly Saturday, February 5, 2000, at the Montebello Retirement Community. She was born on April 22, 1907 in Meridian, MI. She was the daughter of Dr. M.A. Beeson and Effie Harrison Beeson. She was a graduated of Oklahoma A&M College with degrees in Voice and Music Education. Evelyn married her college sweetheart, Robert Alexander Parker, on June 14, 1928. She was instrumental in founding the first"tuition kindergarten" supervised by the Ponca City Public Schools. She taught music at Liberty Elementary School from 1964 through 1972. Through 1987, she continued to serve as a substitute teacher in the Ponca City Public Schools. The First United Methodist Church played an important role in Evelyn Parker's life. She directed the junior girls Wesley Choir for many years. Evelyn and her husband, Bob, both sang in the church choir for over 40 years. Evelyn was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and the PEO Sisterhood. Evelyn Parker is survived by her sons, Alfred L. Parker and wife, Judy Wittmer Parker and James M. Parker and wife, Linda Hisey Parker, all of Albuquerque; daughter, Jane Parker Irwin and husband, Stanley Irwin of Greencastle, IN; five grandchildren, Kathryn Darwin and husband, Ben, Rob Parker and wife, Tammie, Todd Parker, Tyson Parker and Mark Irwin; and four great-grandchildren, Paige and Alex Darwin and Jamie and Jason Parker. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 8, 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Ponca City, OK. Dytzel -- Bobby Dytzel of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away Saturday, February 5, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of 27 years; son, Billy Dytzel of Albuquerque; daughter, Amy Vanni and husband, James Vanni of Fort Hood, Texas; mother, Billie Dytzel; sisters, Kathy Edgar and Carolyn Fleming; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Junella Robb; numerous in-laws; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Dytzel Senior. Bobby was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 1, 1953. He attended college at Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma; where he met his beloved wife, Nancy Robb and they married on December 29, 1972. Bobby received a Bachelors of Business Administration and a Masters of Technical Management from the University of Phoenix in Albuquerque. He was employed as a Technician at Intel. Bobby was a dedicated Christian and enjoyed working in the Children's Puppet Ministry at his church, Sandia Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid golfer, accomplished bowler, author of poetry, lover of music and travel, with an incredible zeal for life. He was known and loved for his sense of humor, warmth and compassion. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and most especially, with his wife and best friend, Nancy. Bobby will be profoundly missed. Services will be held Tuesday, February 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Sandia Church of the Nazarene, 2801 Louisiana Blvd. NE. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Johnson -- Mary Lane Johnson On Sunday, February 6, 2000, Mary Lane Johnson passed on to be with our Lord. Mary was born April 5, 1911 on a ranch five miles southeast of Gomez, Texas. Her parents were Joe James Lane and Nora Jane Seitz Lane. At age five, she moved to the Nine Ranch, northwest of Tatum, NM. She was home-schooled until she entered public school in Roswell, New Mexico. Mary graduated from Roswell High School, attended two years of college at Sullins in Bristol, Virginia and one year at A&M College in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She married Carl Asbury Johnson, Jr. of Roswell on November 12, 1933. She became her life partner and best friend, sharing fifty-four years of married life, until his death on July 6, 1987. In 1939, Mary and Carl began their ranching life when they moved to the Diamond & a Half Ranch, Jal, New Mexico. They added to their ranch holdings when they brought the Hackberry Ranch northwest of Tatum and continued ranching throughout their married life. Mary home-schooled her children at the ranch until 1942 when the Johnsons made Lovington, New Mexico their home town. Mary belonged to the Old Round-Up Dance Club, the 1927 Bridge Club and was a Pink Lade with the Nor-Lea Hospital Auxiliary. She was honored by being named Auxiliatian of the Year for 1993. She was a charter member of the P.E.O. Chapter AJ and served as President from 1961-1962. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church and of the New Mexico Cattle Growers. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Melanie Johnson. Mary is survived by two children, Janora J. Bilbo of Wickenburg, Arizona; a son, Carl Lane Johnson and daughter-in-law, Barbara Weaver Johnson of Tatum, NM; four grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, including Shirley Brown. Mary was the kind of woman you could talk to, hold on to, count on and laugh with. We will miss her strong presence but will always carry her wisdom and love in our hearts. Funeral Services for Mary Johnson will be Tuesday, February 8, 2000 at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jarrod and Justin Johnson of Tatum, NM, nephews, Charles A. Brown, Edmond, Oklahoma, Neil Brown III, Edmond, Oklahoma, Clark Wood, Jr., Slaton, Texas, Joe Wood, Amarillo, Texas, Joe J. Lane, Phoenix, Arizona, Charles Beeson (Doc) Lane, Phoenix, Arizona and Pete Thompson, Ruidoso, NM Mary would prefer that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to A.J. Chapter P.E.O.
