Obituary for Montoya

Jose R. Montoya, 84, went to be with the Lord, Friday, February 4, 2000. He is survived by his daughters, Monica Harrison and husband, Stan of Los Lunas, Helen Salazar and husband, Alex, Maxine Ramirez and fiancee, Ray Silva, Jeanette Ramirez and husband, Ralph and Therese Maestas, all of Albuquerque; son, Joe A. Montoya and wife, Viola of Santa Fe; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Josie P. Muller of Los Lunas; and many wonderful loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emena in 1988; sister, Martha Flores; and brother, Daniel Montoya. Jose was a wonderful father, grandfather, teacher and friend and was a very strong believer in our Lord. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Rosary will be recited Monday, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE with Deacon Tibo Chavez reciting. Services will be Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Our Saviour, 2805 Don Felipe SW, with Rev. Harold L. Trott officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James P. Maestas, Alberto J. Montoya, Alex C. Salazar, Emili Chavez III, Brian B. Maestas and Peter Flores. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald L. Montoya, Anthony J. Salazar, Lawrence P. Salazar and Thomas Z. Ramirez. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
