Bobbie -- Mary Alice (Bobbie) passed away on March 2, 2003. She was preceded in death in 1982 by her husband of 46 years, Howard Trosper Edgar. Survivors include two sons, Howard Douglas and Robert Michael and wife, Madeline Sifuentes Edgar; and one daughter, Mary Alice (Sally), all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, P.J. and wife, Bonnie Short of Las Cruces and James Short of Horseshoe Bay, TX. Bobbie was born in Mangum, OK, December 28, 1914. She married Howard in 1936 and moved to his home in Bethany, LA, where they brought up their three children. In 1964 they moved to New Mexico, settling in Albuquerque in 1966. Cremation will be followed by future burial beside her husband in Texas. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Risen Savior on Friday, March 7, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to VistaCare Hospice, 5201 Venice NE, Suite A, Albuquerque, NM, 87113, or to any hospice of one's choice.

Larzelere -- Bart Larzelere died on March 1, 2003. He was truly a bright star and overflowing spirit. Some highlights of his life were skateboarding, music (trumpet, baritone horn, flute), food service in Hawaii and at The Old House in Santa Fe, EMT work at the Espanola Hospital, reading, and poetry. He was a student at New Mexico Military Institute, Santa Fe Community College, and the University of New Mexico. He came to full life as he embraced conversations with friends and family. He had the greatest network of friends of anyone 26 years old. How he loved his grandparents, his mom and dad; cousins, aunts and uncles of many generations. He had the joy of knowing his great-grandparents, now deceased, Harry James and Eva Belle Grabert, formerly of Fountainville, PA. Bart was preceded in death by his grandma, Eva Kraus Yerk Steeley and his grandpapa Benjamin Larzelere, Jr. He is survived by his loving mother and father, Beverly and The Rev. Benjamin Larzelere III, Santa Fe, NM; his loving friend Eliza Kretzmann, Santa Fe, NM; granddad, Jacob A. Steeley, Sellersville, PA; grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Larzelere, Boca Raton, FL; aunt, Lynne; and uncle, Skip Getch, Boca Raton, FL; uncle Tim and aunt Deb Steeley, cousins, Jennifer and Andrew Steeley, Harrisburg, PA; Godmother Dianne Bryan Young, Brecksville, OH; and his extended family of great aunts and uncles and cousins; and many, many friends. He delighted in the role of"big brother" for his cousins, Sommer and Devon Ruggiero; daughters of Linda Ruggiero, Santa Fe, NM. Bart's life was an insatiable search for knowledge and truth. He rests in God's arms of absolute peace and love. Thanks be to God for his life. The Funeral will be Sunday, March 9, 2003, at 3.00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 1701 Arroyo Chamiso, Santa Fe, NM 87505-4775. In lieu of flowers, contributions are being gratefully accepted to the Bart Larzelere Memorial Fund of Christ Lutheran Church. May -- James A. May, 84, a resident of Belen and formerly of Portales, NM, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2003. Born in Portales on December 16, 1918 to James L. and Lula Anderson May. He was a member of the Belen Christian Church. James proudly served his country with the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the VFW and the DAV. He worked for Eastridge Bowling Palace as a bowling alley mechanic, retiring in 1981. Preceding him in death was his father and mother; and one sister, Winniferd Smith in 2002. James is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth of Belen; one niece, Donna Shiplet; two great-nieces, Jennifer and Keri Shiplet, all of Albuquerque; one sister-in-law and her two daughters, Linda Sikes, Kelly, and Christina Sikes, and other family members. Family request that donations be made in James' name to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home at 1356 N.M 236, Portales, NM 88130-9411. A Funeral Service will be officated by Pastor Jim Wilburn at the Belen Christian Church on Friday, March 7, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will be held at the Portales Cemetery in Portales, New Mexico on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Swanson -- Arnold was born August 2, 1928 in rural Morrison County near Swanville, Minnesota to Henry and Ellen Marie (Palm) Swanson. His parents were farmers. Arnold was the ninth child of a family of ten children, having six sisters and three brothers. He attended elementary school in a one-room school (dist 79) and then on to high school in Swanville. His father died when he was 16 so he quit school to run the farm. In 1951 the farm was sold and he moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Honeywell Corp. He married LaVonne Pressler that year. In 1952 he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Wheelus A.F.B. at Libya, Africa where he worked as an airplane mechanic. He served four years active and four years inactive (reserves). He also got his G.E.D. while in the Air Force. After serving in Africa he was stationed at Kirtland A.F. Base and remained in New Mexico the rest of his life. He had a real love for New Mexico. As a civilian he worked for the company E.G. & G and retired in 1987. Two children were born to Arnold and LaVonne, Larry and Carolyn. He has been married to his present wife, Joyce, for 30 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Arnold was a dear loving father and brother and we all loved him very much. He had a keen sense of humor, loved fishing and gardening and working with his flowers. After he and Joyce retired they traveled extensively, taking both long and short trips. His favorite trip was to Europe, seeing and doing much. He never lost track of his Minnesota farm roots. Arnold died March 2, 2003 of lung cancer. Preceding him in death were his son, Larry; parents; brothers, George, Verner, Edwin; and sisters, Minnie Strandberg, Ebba Barrett and Sigrid Kelly. Survivors are wife, Joyce; daughter, Carolyn Weisleder and her husband, Edward; and grandsons, Brian and James; and sisters, Clara Stark, Alice Bloomquist and Loretta Bangert. Private Graveside Services were held Thursday, March 6, 2003 in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Lovelace Hospice 5403 Gibson Blvd SE, Siesta Hills Albuquerque, New Mexico 87108 or to the First Presbyterian Church 215 Locust NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Sloan -- Freda Gilbert Sloan a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years died Friday, February 28, 2003. She is survived by her husband Ted Sloan of Albuquerque, two daughters, Susan of Dallas and Jo of Albuquerque; grandson, Wesley of Albuquerque, beloved niece, Freddie Gaunt of Darbyshire, England. Freda was born in Manchester, England and she came to the United States in 1946 to marry Ted whom she had met during World War II. Married for 56 years, Ted and Freda lived a life in the military, living all over the world. Freda's family and friends will miss her style, beauty, grace and dignity. Most of all, will miss her love. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Drs. Amy Townover, Bill Bell and James Houle for many years of concern and care during Freda's long battle with cancer. Survivors include two sons, Howard Douglas and Robert Michael and wife, Madeline Sifuentes Edgar; and one daughter, Mary Alice (Sally), all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren, Paul and wife, Dana Steffen Edgar of Tel Aviv, Israel, Christopher of Champaign-Urbana, IL, Mary and husband, Xavier Zubiate, Michelle and husband, Douglas Key, David, Jonathan, and Melissa, all of Albuquerque; and three great-grandchildren, August and Addison Key and Grace Edgar. Also surviving are two brothers, P.J. and wife, Bonnie Short of Las Cruces and James Short of Horseshoe Bay, TX. Bobbie was born in Mangum, OK, Dec. 28, 1914, to Robert Vernon and Mary Alice Short. The oldest of their eight children, she grew up in Mangum and graduated in 1932 from Mangum High School where she was very active in drama. After attending Tishomingo Junior College, she married Howard, nephew of Mark and Gus Pace of Mangum, in 1936 and moved to his home in Bethany, LA, near Shreveport. They brought up their three children there. In 1964 they moved to New Mexico, settling in Albuquerque in 1966. Surrounded by the fascinating landscape, she became a geology enthusiast, frequently sharing her knowledge on fossils and landforms. She was active for years in the Queen of Heaven Sewing Group and, after her husband's death, in the Widowed Persons' Association as an officer. At the time of her death she was a member of the Church of the Risen Savior. Cremation will be followed by future burial beside her husband at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Panola, TX. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Risen Savior on Friday, March 7, 2003 at 10:00 a.m.. Schmidly -- Rose Marie Schmidly passed away peacefully at her home in Albuquerque Tuesday, February 25, 2003. Rose was born October 20, 1927 in Brownwood, TX and grew up in Fort Worth, where she married James Schmidly Jr. in 1946. She has been a resident of New Mexico since 1969. She was preceded by her husband in death and is survived by son, James Schmidly III and wife Dawn; daughter, Kristy Fink and husband Charles; daughter, Claudia Broadwater and husband David, all of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Tammy Elkins and husband Jerry of Portland, OR, Bonnie Fink of Seattle, WA, and Jennifer Sanchez and husband Ricky of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Rhiannon Elkins. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1st, 1:30 p.m., at Southwest Heights Church, 9800 Benavides Rd. SW.
