Beckmann -- Richard Conrad Beckmann, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died February 28, 2003, as a result of injuries sustained in an accident while on business in Hong Kong. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his daughters, Kristin Erickson and her husband, Kevin of San Rafael, California, and Jill Beckmann; his son, Matthew Beckmann; stepmother, Betty Beckmann of Titusville, Florida; sisters, Mary Dunger, Linda Whitaker, Kathy Hazelwood, Kelly Lawson, and Pam Bopp; and brothers, Jim Smith and Mickey Smith. Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Harold Beckmann and Martha Smith. Rick was born in St. Louis, Missouri, September 4, 1942. He received his bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla and his masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He retired from Sandia National Labs in 2001. At the time of his death, he was employed by Learning Tree International. Rick had a zest for life and enjoyed many activities with family and friends, especially skiing and Lobo basketball. This is a sad time for those who knew and loved him, but it is in part mitigated by the knowledge that Rick was doing what he wanted and enjoying life right to the end. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2003, 11:00am, at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St., NE. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico.

Blomberg -- Willard C. Blomberg, 80, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Monday, March 3, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Lynn); daughter, Karen Grabeklis Lamb and husband, Julian of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Richard and wife, Rosalie of Kingman, AZ; nephews; and nieces. A son, Mark, preceded him in death. Willard was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. He had served in WWII in the 92nd Bomb Group, 326th Squadron. He was a P.O.W. in Germany for over a year. Willard was born in Moline, IL. He moved to Sterling, IL in 1970. After retiring from National Manufacturing Company, he and his wife moved to Albuquerque in 1989, then to Denver, CO for two years before returning to Albuquerque. Willard had been an avid bridge player; enjoyed golf, reading, politics and walking daily. Graveside Services will be held Monday, March 10, 2003, at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Bobbie -- Mary Alice (Bobbie) passed away on March 2, 2003. She was preceded in death in 1982 by her husband of 46 years, Howard Trosper Edgar. Survivors include two sons, Howard Douglas and Robert Michael and wife, Madeline Sifuentes Edgar; and one daughter, Mary Alice (Sally), all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, P.J. and wife, Bonnie Short of Las Cruces and James Short of Horseshoe Bay, TX. Bobbie was born in Mangum, OK, December 28, 1914. She married Howard in 1936 and moved to his home in Bethany, LA, where they brought up their three children. In 1964 they moved to New Mexico, settling in Albuquerque in 1966. Cremation will be followed by future burial beside her husband in Texas. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Risen Savior on Friday, March 7, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to VistaCare Hospice, 5201 Venice NE, Suite A, Albuquerque, NM, 87113, or to any hospice of one's choice.

Brito -- Aurelio Brito, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003. He is survived by his daughter, Juanita Baca and husband, Adam; grandchildren, Jennifer Mares, Clarissa Villalobos, Esther Losa, Brandt Brito and Rachael Baca; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Efren Brito and wife, Margaret, Bennie Brito and wife, Lourdes, and Art Orlando Brito and wife, Mary Lou; sister, Madeline Brito-Diaz; and sister-in-law, Ruth Brito. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Brito; sons, Henry and Gilbert Brito; grandson, Henry Brito, Jr.; sister, Maria Brito; and brother, Alfonso Brito. Aurelio was a veteran of WWII. He worked as a butcher for several supermarkets in town. He retired from DOE, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Aurelio was married for 72 years. Burke -- Mary Noonen Burke, 90, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2003. She is survived by her children, John P. Burke and wife, Pattie of Scottsdale, AZ, Kathleen Burke Anthony of Albuquerque, Michael F. Burke and wife, Jini of Tucson, AZ, Joseph K. Burke and wife, Mary Ellen of Broomfield, CO and Dorothy Burke Fitz-Gerald and husband, Gerald of Albuquerque; brother, Thomas J. Noonen of Gallup, and his children, John Noonen, Timothy Noonen, Joyce Noonen Simmons, Joseph Noonen and Theo Noonen Sanchez; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. Mary was born in Santa Rosa, New Mexico on August 18, 1912 to Mary Dora Maher Noonen and Michael C. Noonen. She attended school in Santa Rosa, Gallup and Silver City before moving to Albuquerque to attend the University of New Mexico for two years. Mary taught in the coal camps in Gallup/McKinley County schools. In 1937 she married Frank J. Burke of Gallup. She finished her Bachelor of Arts degree at Denver University in 1949, then moved to Albuquerque in 1950 where she taught in APS elementary schools until her retirement. Mary earned a Master of Arts in School Administration from UNM in 1958. She was a member of the Catholic Church, active in Democratic Party politics and lived in the North Valley for the last 20 years of her life. The staff at St. Mary Rest Home cared for her lovingly. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper NW, with Father Edmundo Rodriguez, Celebrant. Elliott -- George Earl Elliott, 88, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2003, after a protracted convalescence in The Health Center in La Vida Llena. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beth; and their daughter, Susan, who resides in Seattle, WA. He is also survived by one brother, Donald and wife, Bonnie; one sister, Dorothy, all of San Angelo, TX; and many nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly. Mr. Elliott was born May 13, 1914 in Tyler, TX. His parents were George and Lula Mae Elliott, now deceased. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He and Beth moved to Albuquerque in 1950, where he was employed by the F.A.A, retiring in 1972. Mr. Elliott was a skilled pilot who flew professionally and served as an instructor for prospective pilots for many years at Seven-Bar Airport. He was a charter member of St. Johns United Methodist Church since 1951. Mr. Elliott enjoyed golfing and was a member of New Mexico Senior Golf Association. He was a true and generous friend to all who knew him. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 2:30 p.m., in the Chapel at La Vida Llena Lifecare Retirement Community, with Rev. Larzelere -- Bart Larzelere died on March 1, 2003. He was truly a bright star and overflowing spirit. Some highlights of his life were skateboarding, music (trumpet, baritone horn, flute), food service in Hawaii and at The Old House in Santa Fe, EMT work at the Espanola Hospital, reading, and poetry. He was a student at New Mexico Military Institute, Santa Fe Community College, and the University of New Mexico. He came to full life as he embraced conversations with friends and family. He had the greatest network of friends of anyone 26 years old. How he loved his grandparents, his mom and dad; cousins, aunts and uncles of many generations. He had the joy of knowing his great-grandparents, now deceased, Harry James and Eva Belle Grabert, formerly of Fountainville, PA. Bart was preceded in death by his grandma, Eva Kraus Yerk Steeley and his grandpapa Benjamin Larzelere, Jr. He is survived by his loving mother and father, Beverly and The Rev. Benjamin Larzelere III, Santa Fe, NM; his loving friend Eliza Kretzmann, Santa Fe, NM; granddad, Jacob A. May -- James A. May, 84, a resident of Belen and formerly of Portales, NM, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2003. Born in Portales on December 16, 1918 to James L. and Lula Anderson May. He was a member of the Belen Christian Church. James proudly served his country with the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the VFW and the DAV. He worked for Eastridge Bowling Palace as a bowling alley mechanic, retiring in 1981. Preceding him in death was his father and mother; and one sister, Winniferd Smith in 2002. James is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth of Belen; one niece, Donna Shiplet; two great-nieces, Jennifer and Keri Shiplet, all of Albuquerque; one sister-in-law and her two daughters, Linda Sikes, Kelly, and Christina Sikes, and other family members. Metz -- Georgia W. Metz, 88, a resident of Belen, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Wilma Stanton of New Mexico and Jeanne Brixey and husband, Bud of Albuquerque; son, Noble C. Metz, Jr. and wife, Barbara; daughter-in-law, Katherine Metz of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Noble III, Michael, Robert, Bruce, Elizabeth, and Erica; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Metz was preceded in death by her husband, Noble C. Metz, Sr.; and son, Richard Metz. Pena -- Deborah Cordova Pena, 96, passed away March 5, 2003. Deborah was born March 3, 1907. She is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Cordova Sr.; daughters, Sister Marcella, Ninfa Cordova. Deborah is survived by husband, Victor M. Pena of Albuquerque; son, Maurice and wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Bernadette Padilla; grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, Monica, Yolanda, Yvonne, John, Mark Adrian and Tricia; 17 great-grandsons and great-granddaughters; many other family and friends who loved and will miss her. Seddon -- Roger Seddon, age 85, a resident of Albuquerque for 57 years, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2003. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Betty Seddon. He is survived by daughters, Debbie Martinez and husband, David, Carol Martinez and husband, John, Margo Seddon and Diana Johnson all of Albuquerque; sister, Peggy Valencich of California; grandchildren, Brandon LePore, Marc LePore, Michelle LePore, Kimberly Martinez, JT Martinez, Jodi Martinez, and great-granddaughter, Halo LePore all of Albuquerque; and many other close friends and relatives. Roger served during WWII in the First Calvary Seventh Regiment. He retired from Dillards Mens' Fine Fashions and was co-owner with wife Betty, in the operation of Seddons Antiques, one of Albuquerque's first Antique shops. Roger enjoyed restoring antique clocks and furniture. We are saddened by our loss but rejoice in heavens gain. Sena -- Phillip Gabriel Sena, 19, of Highlands Rancho, Colorado and Albuquerque, NM, passed away March 4, 2003 from injuries suffered from a car crash. Phillip was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Jeanette Sena. Phillip is survived by his two brothers, Eric Robert Sena and Michael Anthony Sena, of Albuquerque, NM. Phillip is also survived by his grandfather, Bernie Sena and wife, Sylvia Sena, of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandmother, Orlin Sena of Albuquerque, NM; aunt, Marlene Sena; uncle, Ken Sena and his wife, Leola Sena; and cousin, Justin Sena, of Albuquerque, NM; and great-grandmother, Bennie Sena of Pecos, NM. Swanson -- Arnold was born August 2, 1928 in rural Morrison County near Swanville, Minnesota to Henry and Ellen Marie (Palm) Swanson. His parents were farmers. Arnold was the ninth child of a family of ten children, having six sisters and three brothers. He attended elementary school in a one-room school (dist 79) and then on to high school in Swanville. His father died when he was 16 so he quit school to run the farm. In 1951 the farm was sold and he moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Honeywell Corp. He married LaVonne Pressler that year. In 1952 he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Wheelus A.F.B. at Libya, Africa where he worked as an airplane mechanic. He served four years active and four years inactive (reserves). He also got his G.E.D. while in the Air Force. After serving in Africa he was stationed at Kirtland A.F. Base and remained in New Mexico the rest of his life. He had a real love for New Mexico. As a civilian he worked for the company E.G. & G and retired in 1987. Two children were born to Arnold and LaVonne, Larry and Carolyn. He has been married to his present wife, Joyce, for 30 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Arnold was a dear loving father and brother and we all loved him very much. He had a keen sense of humor, loved fishing and gardening and working with his flowers. After he and Joyce retired they traveled extensively, taking both long and short trips. His favorite trip was to Europe, seeing and doing much. He never lost track of his Minnesota farm roots. Arnold died March 2, 2003 of lung cancer. Preceding him in death were his son, Larry; parents; brothers, George, Verner, Edwin; and sisters, Minnie Strandberg, Ebba Barrett and Sigrid Kelly. Survivors are wife, Joyce; daughter, Carolyn Weisleder and her husband, Edward; and grandsons, Brian and James; and sisters, Clara Stark, Alice Bloomquist and Loretta Bangert. Trujillo -- Ramona Chavez de Trujillo, 89, died February 27, 2003 in Tucson, Arizona, from complications from pneumonia. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. A Funeral Mass, attended by family and friends from California, New Mexico, and Arizona, was held March 3, 2003 at Saint Margaret's Catholic Church in Tucson. Burial was at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery in Tucson, in a joint plot with her husband of 52 years, Esiquio Gallegos Trujillo, who preceded her to heaven in 1982. Mrs. Trujillo was born in Lemitar, New Mexico, on November 19, 1913, to Pascual Chavez and Ramona Luna. She grew up in Quemado, New Mexico. She was the last survivor of ten children and was a descendant of one of the settlers of the Luna valley in Catron County, New Mexico. In 1930, she married Esiquio G. Trujillo in Quemado. In 1941, with their three young boys, Esiquio Jr., Pascual, and John, they moved to Clifton, Arizona, where daughter Bessie was born. All four children graduated from Clifton High School. After the 1983 flood in Clifton until 1995, she lived in Tucson with her middle son, Pascual and his wife, Rebecca. From 1995 to 2000, she lived in Luna, New Mexico with Pascual and Rebecca. From 2000 until her death, she lived in Tucson, Arizona at the House of Prayer, an assisted living home. She is survived by four children, Esiquio"Junior" (Irene) of La Puente, CA, Pascual (Rebecca) of Luna, NM; John (Frances) of La Puente, CA; and Bessie (Henry) Ochoa, of Apple Valley, CA; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Van Auken -- Phyllis Van Auken, 75, passed away after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her husband Ivan in 1990. Survivors include Karen Kelso and husband, Russ of Corrales, Kurt Van Auken and wife, Ginger of Bloomfield, NM; brother, Paul Lozier and wife, Viola of Stanhope, NJ; grandchildren, Jason, Kirsten, Lindsie, Sara and newest grandchild due June 2nd, Jannetjen Phyllis May; many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jason Van Auken, John Owens, Jason Tracy, Jeremy Gerber, Steve Varley, Nathan Varley, Eric Varley, Mitch Varley, and Ronald Kelso. Viewing and visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2003 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2003 in Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary with Rev. Robert R. Olsen officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
