Edgar -- Mary Alice (Bobbie) passed away on March 2, 2003. She was preceded in death in1982 by her husband of 46 years, Howard Trosper Edgar. Survivors include two sons, Howard Douglas and Robert Michael and wife, Madeline Sifuentes Edgar; and one daughter, Mary Alice (Sally), all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren, Paul and wife, Dana Steffen Edgar of Tel Aviv, Israel, Christopher of Champaign-Urbana, IL, Mary and husband, Xavier Zubiate, Michelle and husband, Douglas Key, David, Jonathan, and Melissa, all of Albuquerque; and three great-grandchildren, August and Addison Key and Grace Edgar. Also surviving are two brothers, P.J. and wife, Bonnie Short of Las Cruces and James Short of Horseshoe Bay, TX. Bobbie was born in Mangum, OK, Dec. 28, 1914, to Robert Vernon and Mary Alice Short. The oldest of their eight children, she grew up in Mangum and graduated in 1932 from Mangum High School where she was very active in drama. After attending Tishomingo Junior College, she married Howard, nephew of Mark and Gus Pace of Mangum, in 1936 and moved to his home in Bethany, LA, near Shreveport. They brought up their three children there. In 1964 they moved to New Mexico, settling in Albuquerque in 1966. Surrounded by the fascinating landscape, she became a geology enthusiast, frequently sharing her knowledge on fossils and landforms. She was active for years in the Queen of Heaven Sewing Group and, after her husband's death, in the Widowed Persons' Association as an officer. At the time of her death she was a member of the Church of the Risen Savior. Cremation will be followed by future burial beside her husband at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Panola, TX. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Risen Savior on Friday, March 7, 2003 at 10:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to VistaCare Hospice, 5201 Venice NE, Suite A, Albuquerque, NM, 87113, or to any hospice of one's choice.
