Valdez -- Manuela"Nellie" Valdez, 93, born April 8, 1906 to Manuel and Refugio Nevarez of Las Cruces, passed away Sunday, October 17, 1999. She is survived by her children, Arthur Valdez and wife, Betti of Dominican Republic, Martin Valdez and daughter, Bobbie Rivera, both of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Elaine Breen and husband, Larry, Rudy Rivera and wife, Georgia, all of Albuquerque, Valoree Lebron and husband, Ricardo, Valinda Valdez, John Valdez, all of the Dominican Republic, Robert Valdez of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tom Valdez and wife, Claudia of Atlanta, GA, David Valdez and wife, Cindy of South Lake, TX, Teresa Martin and husband, Billy of Ft. Worth, TX and Vicky Rohana and husband, Salem of Jerusalem, Israel; 16 very special great-grandchildren; numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Valdez; and ten brothers and sisters. Mrs. Valdez was a devout Catholic and a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and the Queen of Heaven choir. She was involved in many church organizations including Catholic Daughters of America, Altar Society, Eucharistic League of the Blessed Sacrament and Sacred Heart League. She was a true trooper who survived breast cancer and a hospital stay for spinal meningitis. Always a welcoming hostess, she was a true example of a woman after God's heart. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE, with Father Johnny Lee Chavez and Deacon Pilar Garcia, Celebrants. Mendez -- Donilia Eloisa Mendez, a resident of Albuquerque for 45 years, passed away on Friday, March 26, 1999, after a long lingering illness. Mrs. Mendez is survived by three daughters, Ernestine M. Pavlakovich and husband, Nick of Albuquerque, Christina B. Chavez and her husband Edward of Albuquerque, Virginia S. Crisman and her husband, Jack of Rio Rancho; two sons, Robert V. Mendez of Albuquerque and Ralph G. Mendez and his wife, Maureen of South Carolina. Mrs. Mendez is also survived by two sisters and four brothers; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mendez was preceded in death by her late husband, Reynaldo Mendez. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. There will be private family visitation on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald & Sons Funeral Directors. A Rosary will be recited Monday at Queen of Heaven Church at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Larry Cleveland. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 30 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. with Fr. Johnny Lee Chavez officiating, with Deacon Pilar assisting. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Deacon Pilar conducting. Those serving as Casket Bearers will be Robert Mendez Sr., Robert Mendez Jr., Nick Pavlakovich, Earnest Trejo, Ralph Mendez, Richard Giron II. Rudy Rivera will be Honorary Pallbearer. Fitzgerald and Sons Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE are in charge of arrangements.

Rex -- Eva Jean Rex, 58, a resident of Belen, passed away on October 8, 1998. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she loved working with children. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Kearns Dummar; and mother, Chole L. Winder; one sister, Mary Dummar. She is survived by her husband, William Rex; sons, Ernest M. Toseland, Arnold J. James, Russell James, Michael James, Robert Holden, Bobby James, Paul Aurthur Rex, Edward James Rex, Mark Rex, Christopher Rex; four daughters, Michelle Rex, Debbie Shine, Norma Hoel, amy Candot; 27 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Wallace, Ray, Richard of Gabbs, NV, Melvin of Brigham City, UT, Fred of Phill Campbell, AL and Jess Dummar; sisters, Sylvella Kelil of Bellingham, WA, and Chole Fowler of Idaho; one aunt, Sally Brommer of Heidleburg, CA. Pallbearers will be Rudy Rivera, Michael Cordova, Richard Hoel, James Franklin, Mitchell Howell, and Clint Hanslett. Viewing will be held on Monday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday,10:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Los Lunas. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen. Moya -- Julia S. Moya, a lifelong resident of Bernalillo, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, September 30. She left this life as she lived it-surrounded by her children. Julia was the wife of the late Abelicio Moya and the beloved mother of one son, Tony Moya and his wife, Cecilia; eight daughters, Isabel Gonzales and husband, Filimon, Lena Archibeque and husband, Jerry, Netti Griego, Gloria Dominguez and husband, Roger, Esther Archibeque and husband, Johnny, Laura Moya, Sandra Lucero and husband, Jose (Henry), Kathy Rivera and husband, Donald. She is also survived by one sister, Ramona M. Mora; three sisters-in-law, Lucy Baca, Lucaria Moya and Emilia Moya; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and all whose lives she touched. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, with Robb Sisneros reciting. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Friday, from 6:00 p.m. until the Rosary.
