Anglin -- Carl B. Anglin, 68, a long-time resident of Moriarty passed away on October 18, 1999. Carl was born in Atwood, Illinois on July 9, 1931. He served in the Marine Crop during the Korean Conflict. He did a lost of traveling in his years working construction, but Moriarty was always home for Uncle Carl, as he is known, by those who knew him and loved him. Surviving, are his brother, Ralph"Bud" Anglin, wife, Beverly of Kewane, Ill., Marvin Anglin, wife, Maria of Moriarty, NM; sisters, Frieda Fax of Decatur, Ill., Marie Moomey of Decatur, Ill., Phyllis and husband, Joe Hodge of La Place, Ill., Virginia and husband, Bill Ward of Westerville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Fern Anglin; brother, Melvin; and sister,"Jeane". Cano -- Anselmo (Sam) Cano, 69, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend was called home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 20, 1999. Sam was born on April 21, 1930 to the late Bernardo and Catalina Cano; he was a resident of Alameda; a parishioner and active usher of Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; he was a proud veteran of the United States Army; and enjoyed spending time with his family outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Bessie Cano of the family home; five sons, Leonard Cano of Alameda, George Cano and wife, Else of Moriarty, Steve Cano and wife, Tina of Moriarty, Brian Cano of Alameda, Anthony Cano and wife, Marsha of Albuquerque; four daughters, Theresa Lovato and fiance, Glen Rice of Edgewood, Frieda Wright and husband, Randy of Edgewood, Judy Cano of Denver, CO and Jennifer Cano of Alameda; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Mike Cano of Albuquerque; seven sisters, Bernie Farris, Mary Gomez, Angie Cano, Josie Lucero, Susie Cano, Fern Cano, Inez Cano all of Albuquerque; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Sam will be greatly missed by his loving family and all those who knew him. Visitations will be held Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th and Iron. A Rosary will be recited Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Chavez -- Mr. Joe Elfigo Chavez Sr., 61, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on October 20, 1999. Mr. Chavez is the beloved husband of 40 years to Mrs. Mary J. Chavez. He is also survived by one son, Jose Elfigo Chavez Jr.; four daughters, Marie Garcia, Christina Montoya and husband, Donald, Kathryn Chavez-Elwell and husband, Phillip and Victoria Martinez-Chavez; four sisters, Mary Alice Chavez and husband, Joe Nestor Sr., Sadie Kleinstiver and husband, Harv, Catherine Benavidez and husband, John, and Anna Marie Marshall and husband, Ron; three brothers, Gilbert Chavez, Michael Chavez and Fred Chavez and wife, Joan; eight grandchildren, Jose Claudio, Donielle, Melissa, Amanda, Donald Jr., Timothy, Cody and Arturo Jose. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends. Mr. Chavez was a member of the Catholic church and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during peacetime. Davis -- John Lawrence"Larry" Davis, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Monday, October 18, 1999. Dickson -- Les Dickson, 71, died Tuesday, October 19, 1999, after fighting an 11 year battle with leukemia. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Dickson of the family home; son, Steven Dickson and wife, Karen of Dallas, TX; daughter, Susan Dees and husband, Nolan; and grandchildren, Cullen and Cortlyn Dees all of Albuquerque. Mr. Dickson was born in Houston, TX, on October 4, 1928. He was a resident there until moving to Albuquerque seven years ago. Mr. Dickson was a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston, TX and was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He then went on to pursue his career in electrical engineering in various fields including, oil companies and N.A.S.A. Here in Albuquerque, Mr. Dickson was a member of Hoffmantown Church. Services will be held Friday, 12:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming NE, with Rev. Ken Moore officiating. Garcia -- Mr. Reynaldo C. Garcia, 72, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on October 20, 1999. Mr. Garcia is the beloved husband of 47 years to Mrs. Lupe Garcia. He is also survived by one son, David A. Lauffenburger -- Arthur Albert Lauffenburger (42) of Miami Beach, Florida, died Friday, October 15, 1999. He was born November 1, 1956, in Redwood City, California and moved to Albuquerque with his family in 1972 where he attended and graduated Sandia High School and the University of New Mexico. While attending College he was active in Albuquerque Little Theatre and Civic Light Opera and New Mexico Orchid Society. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a certified arborist and was a student judge with the American Orchid Society. Arthur recently founded the Miami Beach Chapter for the American Orchid Society and was an active member of the Miami Beach Garden Conservancy. The orchidarium at the garden will be dedicated to Arthur. Memorial Services were held in Miami Beach at the Garden Conservancy on Sunday, October 17. He is survived by his life partner, Phillip Morris of Miami Beach; parents, Pat and Art; sister, Winnie Comyford; brother-in-law, Glen; niece, Brandy, and nephew, Justin of Albuquerque; sister, Sarah of Miami Beach; and aunts, uncle, and cousins. He will be remembered with love by all of those he touched. Qualls -- Shirley M. Exter Qualls, born December 15, 1920, passed away early October 19, 1999 after a long illness. She was a native of Albuquerque and the last surviving child of A.J. Exter, pioneer funeral director and humanitarian of the State of New Mexico. She was known widely for her volunteer efforts with disabled and elderly people, as well as her family. She enjoyed watching golf, Jeopardy, and Bob Barker. She was also a talented artist who designed one of the first Harley-Davidson logos. Shirley and her twin sister, Kathryn were talented dancers in their youth and performed at various city events, including the Kimo Theater, Sunshine Theater, and the Albuquerque Little Theater. The Exter twins can also be remembered by the Albuquerque streets, Shirley and Kathryn, which were named after them. She was dearly loved by many friends and family who will miss her quick wit and big smile. She will be laid to rest next to her twin sister, Kathryn Frei, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Reineke -- Robert C. (Bob) Reineke, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Saturday, October 16, 1999. Stratton -- Dorothy Bowers Stratton, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at the age of 87. She had been a resident of Albuquerque for the past 40 years, and a resident of Manzano Del Sol retirement community for the past 18 years. Mrs. Stratton was preceded in death in 1985 by her husband, Commander Roy Stratton, U.S. Navy, Ret. Survivors include her sister, Kathryn McDowell of Winston-Salem, NC; her daughters, Ann Duffy of Colorado Springs, CO and Sherry DeTata of Florence, CO; numerous nieces and nephews; and her very dear friend, A.C. Hargrave of Albuquerque. A memorial service will be held at Manzano del Sol, 5201 Roma NE, on Saturday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m. Private interment will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Valdez -- Manuela"Nellie" Valdez, 93, born April 8, 1906 to Manuel and Refugio Nevarez of Las Cruces, passed away Sunday, October 17, 1999. She is survived by her children, Arthur Valdez and wife, Betti of Dominican Republic, Martin Valdez and daughter, Bobbie Rivera, both of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Elaine Breen and husband, Larry, Rudy Rivera and wife, Georgia, all of Albuquerque, Valoree Lebron and husband, Ricardo, Valinda Valdez, John Valdez, all of the Dominican Republic, Robert Valdez of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tom Valdez and wife, Claudia of Atlanta, GA, David Valdez and wife, Cindy of South Lake, TX, Teresa Martin and husband, Billy of Ft. Worth, TX and Vicky Rohana and husband, Salem of Jerusalem, Israel; 16 very special great-grandchildren; numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Valdez; and ten brothers and sisters. Mrs. Valdez was a devout Catholic and a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and the Queen of Heaven choir. She was involved in many church organizations including Catholic Daughters of America, Altar Society, Eucharistic League of the Blessed Sacrament and Sacred Heart League. She was a true trooper who survived breast cancer and a hospital stay for spinal meningitis. Always a welcoming hostess, she was a true example of a woman after God's heart. Vollmer -- Violetta M. (Gunnery) Vollmer, age 94, of Albuquerque, New Mexico died October 14, 1999 at Manor Care Sandia. Born in Burgeo, Newfoundland, she leaves a niece, Patricia A. Pihl and nephews, Edgar T. Gunnery and John W. Gunnery all of Centerville, Massachusetts. Warrick -- Grace Elizabeth Warrick, 91, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1973, died Tuesday, October 19, 1999. She is survived by her son, Ronald D. Warrick and wife, Mary Ellen of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; grandchildren, Meloney Sanchez and husband, Juan of Espanola, New Mexico, Felicia Davis and husband, Michael of Aurora, Colorado, Paula Corral and husband, Manuel of Aurora, Colorado, Ronald Warrick Jr. and Shawn Warrick both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Cecilia Velarde and husband, Joe, April Sanchez, Manuel Corral Jr., Kevin Deigle, Christopher Warrick and Marisa Davis; great-great-granddaughter, Anna Marie; sisters, Gene Hilland and husband, Arthur of Texarkana, Arkansas, Mary Sue Lewis of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Joyann Whitescarver of Palestine, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Warrick; her parents; great-grandson, Juan Sanchez Jr.; five sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Warrick was a member of First Baptist Church, Rio Rancho. Catholic memorial services will be held Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 3906 19 Ave. SE, Rio Rancho. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
