MCINTYRE -- RUTH E. Age 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1928, died Sunday, January 29, 2012. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn R. Joule, Mary Ellen Weber, and Maggie A. Ortega; grandchildren, Corey Joule, Kristin Brownlee, Kelly Weber, Paul Weber, and David Ortega; great-grandchildren, Mia Isabel Weber, Raziel De La Rosa - Weber, and Dominic Ortega; brothers-in-law, David McIntyre and wife, Jean, and Craig McIntyre and wife, Tommie; and sister-in-law, Mary Lee McIntyre; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. McIntyre was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. McIntyre; grandson, Kevin Joule; parents Clint and Blanche E. Gray; and brother, Roger Gray. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church since 1949. Ruth earned her PhD in Family Love. She will be greatly missed. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 3, 2012, 10:30 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, with Monsignor Francis X. Eggert, Celebrant. PAYNTER -- ROBERT EUGENE Age 83, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012. He was born on November 15, 1928 to Raymond and Zelma (Winson) Paynter of Alton, Illinois. He served in the United States Army from 1948 - 1950. He then graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Accounting and a Minor in Business Law from New York University in 1958. He spent the majority of his career, 1963 - 1989, with McDonnell Douglas, and attained the position of Director of Financial Controls. Mr. Paynter was a member of the American Legion #632 in Lake St. Louis, Missouri. His family will remember him as a devoted family man who was an avid pool player. "He was a rabid St. Louis Cardinal and Dallas Cowboys fan." He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Grace Paynter of Rio Rancho, NM; children, Betsy Padilla of Albuquerque, NM, George Grimm of Corrales, NM, Eva Vaughn of O'Fallon, MO, and Judith Simpson of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Kathaleen Padilla, George Grimm, Carla Farley, Robert Grimm, Courtney Sills, Stephanie Vaughn, Joseph Simpson, and Samantha Simpson; and seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Wilma Schleuter of Godfrey, IL. SCOTT -- WALTER FRANKLIN Age 86, Walter died suddenly of a probable aneurism on January 31, 2012. Walter was born September 1, 1925, in Winnemucca, NV, to Walter J and Lulu M Scott. He served in the US Army Air Corp as a bombardier in 1943-46. He resided in Albuquerque since 1946, where he married Virginia Williams and fathered three surviving children (David, Laura Lou and Cheri). Surviving grandchildren include Tiffany and Casey Nishiya, and Aaron and Jason Scott; great-grandchildren include Johnathan Scott, Colby and Noelani Nishiya. Walter attended UNM, and received his BS Civil Engineering in 1949 and MS Engineering in 1960. He was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for 30 years in the nuclear weapons complex, and was dubbed the 'underground blast-door expert'. Walter was a member of the Albuquerque Chapter of National Society of Professional Engineers, and served as President in 1959. In 1972 he married Estelle McManus, but was widowed in 1994. In 1994, Eileen Bannick became Walter's significant other until his death. Affiliations include Temple Lodge #6 AF&AM, York Rite Bodies, and Ballut Abyad Temple. STEPUTIS -- MARVIN Age 83, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 30, 2012. He was born in Denver, CO. Marvin is survived by his two daughters, Camela Steputis of Cary, NC and Julie Nunley of Peoria, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Steputis; and his brother, Duane Steputis. Marvin graduated from Fort Collins High School and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. As a quarterback, he played football in high school, college, and won a Rice Bowl ring while serving in the Army. He served active duty overseas in the Japan Occupation and Korean Conflict. He relocated to Albuquerque to teach in the psychology department at UNM where he earned his Master's degree and then went on to teach in the Albuquerque Public School system. WALKER -- JOSEPH "JOE" E. December 15, 1952- January 28, 2012 Beloved son, husband, father, brother and friend passed away at St. John's Regional Hospital in Farmington, NM after a courageous battle with cancer. In 1964 Joe moved with his family to Albuquerque, NM. He attended St. Pius High School graduating in 1970, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University in 1978. He worked for the NM State Police before becoming a member of the Farmington Police Dept. After retiring in December 2006, he continued teaching the "Alive at25" and defensive driving course for the NM State Police Academy. Joe was a muscle car enthusiast, he loved spending time with his family, camping and four wheeling in Colorado mountains. He is survived by his wife Karen; daughters Racheal and Liana; sons Andrew and Micah; parents Kenneth and Mary Walker; sisters Dottie, Mary, Barbara, Ruth and Jeane; brothers Gary, Kenny and Jim; and other extended family members. Cremation has taken place. Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Farmington. Wake and rosary will be on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society in Joe's name.

WARNKE -- CHERYL LYNN Former owner of Piano Source and beloved teacher, died of cancer at her home in Albuquerque on Monday, January 30. She was 74. Cheryl was born June 25, 1937, in LaPorte, Indiana, to Earl and Stella Cumerford. She graduated from LaPorte High School in 1956 where she played trombone in the band. She received a degree in education in 1960 from Ball State Teachers College where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She was a gifted musician, learning to play piano at age of 3. Her piano teacher booted her out of class for playing by ear which led to a long career as a teacher and businesswoman. She played piano and organ throughout her life. She played at live venues around Albuquerque in the 1960s, including the Officers Club at Kirtland AFB and the High Finance restaurant at the top of the Tram. She also taught piano, organ and keyboard classes to students at Piano Source music store in the 1990s. She was an elementary school teacher at Farmington Public Schools, Deming Public Schools, the International School in Saudi Arabia, and Albuquerque Public Schools. She also owned the Piano Source from 1993 to 2000. She was a member of Sandia Baptist Church and lived in New Mexico for nearly half a century. She married Terry Warnke in 1960 and moved to Albuquerque in 1961. She also lived in Deming and Farmington. Cheryl is survived by her husband of 51 years, Terry Warnke; daughters, Julie Leitner and her husband, John; Laura Gilliland and her husband Mike; son, Scott Warnke and his wife, Leanne Potts; grandchildren Lauren Matheny, Logan Matheny, Christopher Gilliland, Elizabeth Gilliland, Lucinda Warnke and Jack Warnke; aunt Ethel Shepard; cousins Susie Smith and her husband, Mark, and Steve Shepard. Visitation will be at French - University, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Friday February 3rd from 4:00-8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave. NE on Saturday, February 4th at 11:00 am. Private interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. ZIMPEL -- MELVAH SUE (DUSENBERRY) Age 79, resident of Tijeras, New Mexico, passed away January 25, 2012. Sue was born November 19, 1932, in McAlester, Oklahoma to Mabel and Clarence Dusenberry. She was a 1949 graduate of Denison High School, Denison, Texas. Husband Richard Zimpel; son Charles Warren and family; daughter Janet Oseid and family; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons survive Sue. Father Scott Lay will conduct the Requiem Mass at St. Peters Anglican Church (NW corner of Paseo Del Norte and Eubank) on February 4, 2012, at 10:00 AM. BARNES -- CYNTHIA JEAN "CINDY" 1955-2012 Age 56, a resident of Bosque Farms, was called home to our Lord and Savior after a sudden death on Tuesday, January 31. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and sister. She loved her animals, and enjoyed playing bingo with her mom. She was also a member of the Stamp Club at the Palo Duro Senior Citizens Center, and belonged to the Turtle Club. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Ernie Allen; and her sister Sandra Allen. She is survived by her husband, Charles Barnes; daughter, Sarah Barnes and fiance Carlos Edgell; mother, Iris Allen; brothers, Ron Allen and Lynn Truck, and Scott and Kathy Allen. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 4th at 1:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 75 Manzano Expressway Belen, NM. BARNETT -- CAROL JOAN Age 83, of Albuquerque, entered God's eternal care on December 14, 2011, joining her husband Barclay and other beloved family members who have gone before her. Carol leaves behind many who loved and respected her to include her daughter, Lee Malone and husband Tim; son, Luke Barnett and wife Pam; grandson Matthew Malone; granddaughter Sarah Ramos and husband Erick; and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Adriana Ramos. Carol will always be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a candid friend, and an intelligent businesswoman. Always with a sense of humor and flair, she was an active member of the Albuquerque community for all of her adult life. Her many interests and pursuits included gourmet cooking, business investments, property management, antique collecting, reading, and needlepoint. Throughout her life, Carol was a tremendous supporter of animal humane organizations and had a passion for her dogs that she owned and cared for. She always had a keen sense of community service and served on the board of directors of the Albuquerque Junior League. Carol graduated from Durango High School in 1946 and then earned her degree in business administration at the University of New Mexico in 1950. At the university, she served as the president of her sorority, Chi Omega. Shortly after graduation, she married Barclay Barnett and they remained together until his death in January, 2001. Carol does indeed leave the world a better place because of her involvement in it and the impact she had on the many lives she touched. The family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers, Virgie, Sandy, Zenas, Mary, and Pam; Heritage Home Healthcare Hospice; nurses, Olivia, Stephanie, and Ida; Housecalls of NM; and Dr. Kim. A service in her honor will be held Saturday, February 4, at 1:00 PM, at French-University Chapel. Ennichement will follow at the Centennial Urn Garden at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
