WALTER FRANKLIN Age 86, Walter died suddenly of a probable aneurism on January 31, 2012. Walter was born September 1, 1925, in Winnemucca, NV, to Walter J and Lulu M Scott. He served in the US Army Air Corp as a bombardier in 1943-46. He resided in Albuquerque since 1946, where he married Virginia Williams and fathered three surviving children (David, Laura Lou and Cheri). Surviving grandchildren include Tiffany and Casey Nishiya, and Aaron and Jason Scott; great-grandchildren include Johnathan Scott, Colby and Noelani Nishiya. Walter attended UNM, and received his BS Civil Engineering in 1949 and MS Engineering in 1960. He was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for 30 years in the nuclear weapons complex, and was dubbed the 'underground blast-door expert'. Walter was a member of the Albuquerque Chapter of National Society of Professional Engineers, and served as President in 1959. In 1972 he married Estelle McManus, but was widowed in 1994. In 1994, Eileen Bannick became Walter's significant other until his death. Affiliations include Temple Lodge #6 AF&AM, York Rite Bodies, and Ballut Abyad Temple.
