CAROL JOAN Age 83, of Albuquerque, entered God's eternal care on December 14, 2011, joining her husband Barclay and other beloved family members who have gone before her. Carol leaves behind many who loved and respected her to include her daughter, Lee Malone and husband Tim; son, Luke Barnett and wife Pam; grandson Matthew Malone; granddaughter Sarah Ramos and husband Erick; and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Adriana Ramos. Carol will always be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a candid friend, and an intelligent businesswoman. Always with a sense of humor and flair, she was an active member of the Albuquerque community for all of her adult life. Her many interests and pursuits included gourmet cooking, business investments, property management, antique collecting, reading, and needlepoint. Throughout her life, Carol was a tremendous supporter of animal humane organizations and had a passion for her dogs that she owned and cared for. She always had a keen sense of community service and served on the board of directors of the Albuquerque Junior League. Carol graduated from Durango High School in 1946 and then earned her degree in business administration at the University of New Mexico in 1950. At the university, she served as the president of her sorority, Chi Omega. Shortly after graduation, she married Barclay Barnett and they remained together until his death in January, 2001. Carol does indeed leave the world a better place because of her involvement in it and the impact she had on the many lives she touched. The family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers, Virgie, Sandy, Zenas, Mary, and Pam; Heritage Home Healthcare Hospice; nurses, Olivia, Stephanie, and Ida; Housecalls of NM; and Dr. Kim. A service in her honor will be held Saturday, February 4, at 1:00 PM, at French-University Chapel. Ennichement will follow at the Centennial Urn Garden at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
