SCHMIDT, CLEMENTINE L. VOCKE (CLEM) Age 90, passed away on December 23, 2012. She was born on October 8, 1922 in Dayton, Ohio. Clem attended schools and was employed in Dayton for a number of years before her marriage to Robert Schmidt. Clem and Bob made their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after Bob's retirement from the Army in 1965. Bob passed away in 1996. Clem and Bob had five children, Rita J. Schmidt Labato (husband, Frank, deceased), Robert J. Schmidt, Jr, Kathleen Schmidt Stratmoen, M. Francis Schmidt, Ann M. Schmidt. Clem's children called her "Mutti" a reminder of the years the family spent in Germany. Clem had seven grandchildren, Christina, Rebecca, Eric, Steven Stratmoen, Laura, Maria and Kevin Labato, and two great grandchildren, Elliana and Ryan Smith. Clem's grandchildren called her, "Granny Goose". That was started quite by accident when Christina was just a baby. The name still holds. Clem loved animals very much, most especially dogs. All of nature was a special delight to her. Clem's family would like to extend grateful appreciation to the staff at Kathryn House, the staff of Hospice de la Luz and Dr. Suzanne Pinon, all of whom provided extraordinary support and care for Clem and her family. Clem was a member of Sangre de Cristo Parish. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2012, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Recitation of the Rosary will follow the Visitation at 6:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will take place on Friday, January 4, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at Sangre de Cristo Parish, 8901 Candelaria Rd NE. SERAFIN, KATHERINE "KATHY" 1949-2012 Age 63, went to heaven escorted by her guardian angels on Saturday, December 22, 2012. She enjoyed sports, music, reading and sharing a "Long Island Ice Tea" with her friend Rose F. A very strong woman has left us with hopes of being with her again. She was seen as a living angel who suffered for many long years with Multiple Sclerosis without complaining. Kathy was beautiful inside and out and loved everyone. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Dennis; her two sons, Jason and Nick who were her pride and joy and you didn't mess with "Mommy's Boys"; sisters, Glenda, Gloria and Rachel; and brother, Del. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Friday, January 4, beginning with a visitation at 12:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 12:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date. SISSON, ELEANOR Age 98, of Albuquerque, NM passed away at a local assisted living facility on December 26, 2012. Preceding her in death were her parents, Dora and Melvin Germer, Sr.; her husband, George Sisson, Sr.; and son, George Sisson, Jr.; sisters, Mary, Virginia and Isabel; three brothers, Phillip, Melvin and Charlie. She is survived by son, Melvin and Glenda, his wife of Bosque Farms, NM; daughter-in-law, Betty Sisson of Truth or Consequences, NM; and her loving brother-in-law, John Antonelli of Trinidad, CO. Eleanor is survived by nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong devoted member of the Society of Jehovah's Witnesses where she mentored others and found many friends. Her son, Mel, would like to thank fellow witnesses for all the help, friendship and support the last few years. Much appreciated, thank you all. STAHL, ALICE FLICKINGER Born March 28, 1917 in Shepherdstown, WV, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the age of 95. She was married on May 31, 1941 to Kenneth Stahl, who preceded her in death shortly after their sixtieth anniversary. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Moore and her husband, Michael of Albuquerque; son, Ken of Claremont, CA; granddaughters, Katy Coan and her husband, Ben, and Kristin Moore; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Alice was a graduate of Handley High School in Winchester, VA and Carthage College in Carthage, IL. During World War II, she taught biology in Nauvoo, IL. Alice was a homemaker and active volunteer in numerous organizations. Among her volunteer activities were Meals on Wheels, Phillips Chapel Day Care Center, ARC of New Mexico, and Cub Scouts. She was also an active member of the University of New Mexico Faculty Women's Club and co-founded International Neighbors, an organization of faculty women and wives of international students. TARBELL, ALBERT, REVEREND The Reverend Albert Weatherbee Tarbell, Honorary Canon of the Cathedral of St. John, Albuquerque, New Mexico died on December 26, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife, Mabelle S. Tarbell, in 1994. A native of Bangor, Maine, he received his early education in Bangor, and graduated from Deerfield Academy in 1928, and Bowdoin College in 1932. He then attended Yale University Drama School for three years earning a Masters Degree. He was the Director of a summer theater in Great Neck, Long Island, and was Associate Producer of the revival of "The Importance of Being Earnest" with Clifton Webb, Estelle Winwood, and Hope Williams on Broadway in 1936. He toured in Cole Porter's "Leave It To Me" and took part in the London Production of "Post Road." In 1942 he entered the military service and had tours of duty in both Europe and Japan. In 1954 he was stationed in Albuquerque and was Commanding Officer of the Counterintelligence Corps at Sandia Base. In 1956, he retired from active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel and entered The General Theological Seminary in New York City. Upon graduation in 1959, he returned to Albuquerque where he became a Canon at The Cathedral Church of St. John. As a layman he was instrumental in the establishment of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, and as an Episcopal priest he became Vicar of St. Aidan's Episcopal Church in 1962. St. Aidan's grew to become one of the larger parishes in the Diocese of the Rio Grande. Eventually it merged with St. Matthew's Episcopal Church to become St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Following his retirement as Rector of St. Aidan's, Father Tarbell returned to the Cathedral Church of St. John where he had served previously in his ministry and was awarded the title of Honorary Canon. In addition to his ministerial occupations, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque for over forty years and was its oldest living active member. He is survived by two nephews, the sons of his late sister, Lillian, of Rose Valley, Pennsylvania; 5 children of his late brother, John W. Tarbell; and by his special grandniece, Caroline Kennedy Stone, and fifteen other grandnieces and nephews, including Bentley and George Kennedy-Stone. Funeral services will be held at the Cathedral Church of St. John, 318 Silver Avenue, SW, on Sunday, December 30, 2012, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Cathedral Endowment Fund. Officiants for the service will include The Reverend Canon Adams Lovekin, and the The Very Reverend Mark Goodman, and pallbearers will be Dr. Steven Bush, George Foster Hannett, Bentley Kennedy-Stone, Dick Ransom, Thomas Seamon, and John Vaughn. TRUJILLO, SUSIE Age 66, went Home on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 with her daughters by her side. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Ponce and Maria Annette ("Nannie") Crespin and her husband, Luis Crespin; grandchildren, Rachael, Ricky, Johnny, Anthony, Crystal and Monica; great-grandchildren, Elias, Jazreal, Arrianna, Deztini and Donovan; many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and relatives. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Apolinar and Macedonia Rodriguez and Eloisa Esquibel; her husband, Joe Sam Trujillo and son-in-law Michael Ponce. Susie cared for the elderly for over 30 years. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Susie loved to cook and bake for her family. VREELAND, LETA MAE Age 85, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1999, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. She was born on December 27, 1926 to Robert and Sada Hampton of Independence, MO. Leta spent her childhood in Las Vegas, Nevada, and later moved with her family to Hamilton, MO, where she graduated from Hamilton High School, class of 1944. She went on to obtain an A. A. degree from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa in 1946, and later a B.S. in Elementary Education from Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Missouri in 1953. As a housewife, Leta's life was devoted in service to the Lord through care of her family and worship in the Community of Christ Church, where she was a lifelong member. In her last years, she spent countless hours studying and listening to God's word. She often enjoyed playing Scrabble with family membersand rarely lost a game. She was preceded in death by brothers, Bob, Gene, and Paul; daughter, Karen, and husband, Charles. She is survived by sons, Charles, Glenn, Mark, Brian, David and their wives; sisters, Lois, Velva, Bonnie, Valeira, and sister-in-law, Mary; as well as fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. WESTLEY, KATHLEEN JOAN Age 74, of Phoenix, AZ died Saturday, December 22, 2012. She was born May 3, 1938 in Havre, Montana. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend blessed all with her smile and joyous laugh in spite of never-ending health challenges. Survived by husband Curtis, sons Craig, Darin and wife Cathy, grandchildren Erica Ochs, Courtney Ochs, and Tyler Westley, great-granddaughter Ava Ochs, and sisters Virginia Cleavenger and husband Paul, and Margaret Cole and husband Gary. Preceded in death by son Bryan, parents Ralph and Margaret Swenson, and sister Lornell Wells. Kathleen was a member of Paradise Valley United Methodist Church and Chapter AL P.E.O.
