LATINO, CARL age 62, passed peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, December 27. Carl is survived by his life partner of 28 years, Tom Ford. Together they opened their retail store "Hey Jhonny" 18 years ago. Carlo's big brown, Sicilian eyes and huge smile would light up any room. His wit and twisted sense of humor will stay with all of us who knew him. He loved and lived life to the fullest. Carl was born in Rockford, Illinois to Joseph and Genevieve Latino on May 4, 1950. He is survived by his loving sisters JoAnne Latino and Carrole Banks; his dear niece Amy Banks and her life partner Melissa Miller, all of Rockford, Illinois; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Patricia and Robert Kreuder of Sayville, New York; sister-in-law Barbara Ford of Florida; loving nieces and nephew. A special thanks to all our family and friends whose abundant love, support and caring has been immeasurable. A memorial celebration will be held in the spring. LEATHERWOOD, AJ born October 12, 1916, died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the age of 96. AJ was proceeded in death by his son James Cory "Corkey" Leatherwood. AJ was born in Rising Star TX, and moved to Albuquerque in approx. 1920. AJ worked with his father, (who owned Valley Feed Store) in the feed business in the late 1930's. He then joined the Cargill Grain Company as a traveling salesman in NM. He won the Presidents Club Award twice for outstanding sales. This award was given to the individual for the highest feed sales in the nation. He loved traveling throughout New Mexico. AJ was an avid fisherman and actively fished almost every lake and stream in NM. AJ loved hiking and exploring. He proudly walked and won the Duke City Marathon several years in a row for his age group. As a matter of practice he hiked the La Luz trail every morning to the five mile marker for 15+ years. AJ retired at an early age and decided to start his world traveling. He enjoyed traveling and visiting all seven continents, in addition to all corners of the US. AJ was a life long horseman, and enjoyed having and working with horses. He was very active throughout his entire life, in his daughter and his granddaughters horse activities and with the many World and National titles that they have won. AJ was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was full of spirit and passion, and most importantly, he was a loving, strong willed, tenacious mentor and a loving friend that we all looked up to. We will miss him dearly. AJ is survived by his daughter, Jan Gibson, and her partner Tom Frank; his two granddaughters, Shana Gibson Showers and husband Brandon, granddaughter, Lindsey Gibson and Fiance, Marcus Chambers. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Tegan Coy Showers. AJ was surrounded by life long love from several nephews, Patrick Reynolds, (who traveled on many journeys with AJ) Jerry and Mike Reynolds, and niece, Ann Madigan. AJ was also very honored to have several close and dear friends, Charles Solomon, Faith Myers, Ron Robertson, Pat Whitlatch (Iowa), Carolyn Elliott (Florida) and his cousin Ruth Carroll (TN). The Family would like to thank the Staff at Beehive Assisted Living, located in Rio Rancho on Silent Spring Dr., for their friendship, their care and compassion; he loved you all. We would also like to thank the Dr.s, Nurses and entire staff of Presbyterian Hospice, for their care and compassion in making his final days loving and peaceful. We will be eternally grateful. Services are planned for January 12, 2013 with a graveside service at 9:30 am to be held at Mt Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE 87102. A celebration of AJ's life, will immediately follow at the El Camino Restaurant located at 6800 4th Street, N.W. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice.

LEONARD, FRED W. Was born on March 5, 1959 in Bethel Connecticut and went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 24, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Sr. and Shirley Leonard; sister, Helen. He is survived by his beloved wife of twenty five years Karen Leonard of the family home; two sons, Marcos Gomez and wife Nancy, and Alfred Leonard all of ABQ.; two daughters, Melissa Lukens and husband Richard of CA., Natasha Leonard of ABQ.; two brothers, Alfred Leonard II and wife Cathy, and Bob Leonard wife Robin all of CT.; six grandchildren; mother in law, Maggie Gomez of ABQ. and by many other family members and friends who loved and will miss him greatly. Fred Honorably served his country in the United States Army for 18 years and was also a longtime member of Calvary of ABQ., where he served as an usher. Memorial Services will take place at Calvary of Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Rd. LOPEZ, ROSE GALLEGOS, age 77, went to be with her Heavenly Father Friday December 28, 2012. Rose was born May 13, 1935 in Bernalillo, NM. Rose was preceded in death by her father and mother Joe and MaryLou Gallegos, her brother Gilbert Gallegos, and in-laws Ben and Anita Dimas. Rose is survived by her husband of 17 years, Freddy Lopez, her son Eddie Dimas and wife Shirley, two grandchildren Mark Dimas and Erin Collins, and her brother John Gallegos and wife Mary Alice. She is also survived by her in-laws Carlos and Delia Lopez of California, step children Carol Turjillo (Brandon), Richard Lopez (Karen), Jerry Lopez (Connie), Kathy Chavez (Alfred), Dennis Lopez (Monica), and Dorothy Chavez (Richard). She is also survived my numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Arrangements are being handled by Riverside Funeral Home. A viewing has been scheduled Monday December 31, 2012 at 9:00 am, services will follow at 10:00 am at Riverside Funeral Home Chapel, and internment at 11:30 am at the Mount Calvary Cemetery.

LOVATO, CELINA M. Age 84, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, was embraced by the Lord and taken to her heavenly home, Sunday, December 23, 2012, while surrounded by her loving family. She was a life long resident of Bernalillo, NM, where she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Celina was a loving and caring person, who was very proud of all her children. She pride herself on the great accomplishment of raising her precious children, whom she loved so much. She was preceded in death by her parents, Epimenio and Lucianita Montoya; son, Don S Lovato Jr., sisters, Consuelo Shearer, Monica Montoya, Teofila Montoya; brother, Antonio Montoya. Celina is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Don S. Lovato; her wonderful children, Dolores Archibeque and husband John, Ceci Roseberry and husband Buster, Margaret Chavez, Elizabeth Sedillo and husband Michael; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Perea; other numerous relatives and friends. Celina will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose hearts she touched. LUCAS, LUCILLE Age 98, passed away on December 25, 2012. She was born in Crestline, Kansas on April 30, 1914, the daughter of George Martin and Otha Bailey. Her husband, Lewis L. passed away on July 22, 1984. She was a member of the Los Altos Christian Church, Disciples of Christ and was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Lucille taught on the Navajo reservation and retired from the Gallup public schools before moving to Albuquerque. She is survived by her son, J.D. Lucas and wife, Micky, Curtis Lucas and his wife, Julie; grandchildren, Lory Nunez, Melissa Huckabee and her husband, David, John and wife, Haydee and Kevin Lucas; her great grandchildren, Briana Cimino, Derrick Nunez, Cera J. Nunez, Stetson Lucas, Emma Lucas, Jessica and husband, Bradd Preston, Kristina Huckabee, Noemi, Elizabeth and Johnathan Venegas, Alison Lucas, Evangeline and Eilley Preston. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Los Altos Christian Church, 11900 Haines Ave NE. MARTINEZ, JOE B.A. Joe, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. He is survived by son: Paul Martinez; daughters: Annette Whitaker, Robin Martinez and Teresa Biddinger and husband David; sister: Prudence Chavez and husband Manuel; grandchildren: Michael, Steven, Emma, Nathan, and Taylor and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Martinez served in the U.S. Navy 22 years. He is a Vietnam veteran and retired from North County Transit in San Diego. He loved his N.M. Lobos, casinos and spending time with his family. MONTOYA, M. SARAH M. Sarah Montoya, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away suddenly December 27, 2012, at the age of 65. She is preceded in death by her beloved father: Juan Maestas, father and mother-in-law: Paul and Sarah Montoya; and sister-in-law, Patricia Maestas. She is survived by her loving mother: Helen Maestas; devoted husband, Richard P. Montoya; loving children: Kimberly Montoya-Hopkins and husband, Aaron; and Kristopher Montoya and wife, Fay; cherished grandchildren: Sadira, John Paul, Elliot, Nicholas and Liberty; brother, Leonard Maestas; sister-in-law: Patti Gutierrez and husband, Edward; nieces and nephews and their families: Catalina and Allen, Veronica and Mike, Allen and Suzanne, and Anita; as well as extended family members and many dear friends. Sarah retired from the telephone company after 28 years of dedicated service. During this time she formed many lasting friendships. She loved entertaining during the holiday season and spent countless hours decorating, perfecting her snow village and putting the final touches on her tree. Sarah cherished her family and loved each of them dearly. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Our wife, mom and Nana was so much more than any few words listed here. Although she will no longer decorate the tree and every square inch of the house, the power of her love and the light of her spirit will not fade with her passing. The love she so freely gave will continue on.
