Obituary for VREELAND

VREELAND, LETA MAE Age 85, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1999, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. She was born on December 27, 1926 to Robert and Sada Hampton of Independence, MO. Leta spent her childhood in Las Vegas, Nevada, and later moved with her family to Hamilton, MO, where she graduated from Hamilton High School, class of 1944. She went on to obtain an A. A. degree from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa in 1946, and later a B.S. in Elementary Education from Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Missouri in 1953. As a housewife, Leta's life was devoted in service to the Lord through care of her family and worship in the Community of Christ Church, where she was a lifelong member. In her last years, she spent countless hours studying and listening to God's word. She often enjoyed playing Scrabble with family membersand rarely lost a game. She was preceded in death by brothers, Bob, Gene, and Paul; daughter, Karen, and husband, Charles. She is survived by sons, Charles, Glenn, Mark, Brian, David and their wives; sisters, Lois, Velva, Bonnie, Valeira, and sister-in-law, Mary; as well as fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service for Leta will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace To You, 28001 Harrison Parkway, Valencia, CA 91255.
