BORGELT -- RALPH E. Was called home to rest on December 30, 2011 at the age of 82. He was surrounded by his loving family at home in Rio Rancho, NM. He was born in Carlyle, IL in 1929, to Theodore and Josephine Borgelt. Ralph was a good man, loved by all. He enjoyed telling jokes and teasing people just to make them smile. He loved gardening and picking tomatoes with his great-grandson. They had a special bond and Mathayus will miss his papo so much. Ralph was an accomplished man, with a degree in electronics. He worked for General Electric and retired after 25 yrs of service. He had many good friends who will miss him very much. He served his country in the Army Air Force, honorably discharged in 1949. He then served nine years in the Air force reserves. Ralph is survived by his wife Dee (Dolores) of 59 yrs and two children, Mark Borgelt and Susan Lucero, and his son-in-law Johnny Lucero. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Lance Gallegos, and Michael Tafoya, as well as one great-grandson, Mathayus Tafoya. He is also survived by two brothers, Theodore, Jr and Hubert Borgelt. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Josephine Borgelt, a brother Robert Borgelt, and daughter-in-law Veronica Tarango-Borgelt. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., St Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque. CASAUS -- ANGIE G. Age 82, born December 9, 1929 in Alpine Texas went home to be with the Lord January 4, 2012. Angie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Leo and Anna Casaus; brothers, Natividad and Leo Gonzales Jr.; her husband, of 55 years Alfredo A. Casaus; two grandchildren, Anthony and Tanya Casaus. Angie is survived her eight children, Al Casaus, Jr and fiancee Crystal Chavez, Michael and Isabel Casaus, Anna (Couger) Casaus, Steven and Johanna Casaus, Lucille and Robert West, Angela and Ken Osborne, Julie and Christopher Chavez, David and Sandra Casaus. DISTEFANO -- MICHAEL Age 61, passed away of natural causes on December 27, 2011 in his home in Algodones, NM. He was a Navy veteran and an avid sports fan, especially of the Detroit Lions and the Red Wings. A man with a wonderful sense of humor and a good heart, he was always smiling and laughing. He is survived by sisters Lorraine Deck and Irene Kelly, and many loving relatives and friends. We will miss him.

DRURY -- KARLA MAY Born July 28, 1934 passed on January 5, 2012. Our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt went to meet the Lord on January 5, 2012 after a brief illness. Born in the tiny hamlet of Buffalo, ND to Johann and Ella she soon moved to Fargo where she attended school, worked for Northwestern Bell and met and fell in love with Her best friend, Tom. She was the epitome of love and family. She loved her husband, doted on her sons and their spouses and adored her Grandson! She brought a spark of joy and happiness everywhere she went: be it a baseball game, gathering at home with family and friends, or playing her video poker machines at Post 49, where she was a member of Unit 49. Karla was fun! She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Tom; her sons, Jon and Mike; grandson, Ryan; daughter-in-law, Molly and Chris Waseta, all of Albuquerque. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Elaine and much-loved nephews, Steve and Tom Zaeske and their families all of Fargo, ND. FIDEL -- MICHEL J. SR. Michel passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2012. Born August 22, 1923 in Roumie, Lebanon, Michel came to the United States in 1925. He was a life-long resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico and graduate of St. Michael's High School. After college and service in the military, Michel returned home to work in the family business and retired from JCPenny. Michel loved his community. He was an active member of the Lions Club for over 50 years and devoted many years to volunteering with the St. Vincent Auxiliary, Villa Therese Catholic Clinic, and the St. Michael's Foundation. Michel is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose Fidel; brother, Victor; sister, Rene; brother-in-laws, Fred Abouselmen, Albert Najjar, and M.K. Hage; sister-in-laws, Jeannette Fidel, Lee Jamail, and Nettie Hage; and niece, Norma Najjar. He leaves behind many loved ones who grieve his passing: his wife of 64 years, Christine Hage Fidel; children, Michel and his wife, Julie, Lynn and her husband, Greg, and Todd and his wife, Susan; grandchildren, Tony (Sheira), Clint (Elani), Nicole, Karl, Caitlyn, and Doreen; great-grandchildren, Cal, Cali, and Ryder; sisters, Rose Fidel, Mae Najjar, and Margaret Absoulemen; brother, Edward Fidel; brother-in-law, Joe Jamail; sister-in-law, Dolores Fidel; and many nieces and nephews. GALLEA -- STEPHEN R. Age 59 of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on January 3, 2012. He is survived by Linda, his loving wife of 33 years. He was born in Denver, CO to Roy D. and Anne Gallea. Stephen graduated from the University of New Mexico. He taught Special Education at Sandia High School and coached football for 30 years. Stephen was an avid gardener and an excellent cook. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Gallea and son, Benjamin Gallea. Stephen is survived by his brother, Alan Gallea of Albuquerque, NM; son, Roy Gallea of Littleton, CO; and daughter, Elizabeth Gallea of Austin, TX. GONZALES -- CHARLOTTE passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 5, 2012. She was born in Las Colonias, New Mexico on July 21, 1925. She has since been a longtime resident of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elias Gonzales, son, Jose Luis Gonzales and granddaughter, Jamie Gonzales. Charlotte is survived by her son, Benny Gonzales and wife, Patty of Albuquerque; granddaughters; Jessica Hammonds and Jackie Gonzales and her great-grandchildren: Jade, Savahna, Carlos and Alex, also brothers, Albert Gonzales and wife, Rosa from Killeen, Texas, Manuel Gonzales and wife, Mary from Albuquerque and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was very active at her church, St. Francis, in Albuquerque, and for ten years she worked for the Grandparents Program as a "grandma" at Eugene Field Elementary, sharing her wisdom, smiles and hugs with hundreds of children. The family would like to express their gratitude for all the love and support shown by all the children, teachers and principals who brought much joy in her life. LEONARD -- RUPERT A. "LEN" JR. USAF, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.), age 79, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2012. He resided at Lakeview Manor II Assisted Living Homes in Los Lunas. Rupert was born May 12, 1932 in Salisbury, NC, and a long time resident of Bosque Farms and Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of the family home; sons, Ron Leonard of Los Lunas, and Robert Leonard of Bosque Farms; daughter, Francy Fuhr of Germany; and two granddaughters of Germany. The family would like to thank Lakeview Manor II for their gentle care and prayers. They were very attentive to his needs. NICHOLSON -- RUTH V. On January 5th, 2012 a loyal follower of Christ, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and family mentor was called home to her final resting place with our Lord. Ruth Virginia (Jean) Riddle was born in Syracuse, Indiana on March 1, 1917, the 8th of 8 children born to Leroy and Winnie Riddle. In the 1930's she was influenced by her sister Kathleen to come to Silver City, New Mexico and attend New Mexico State Teachers College. In 1940 she received her teaching certificate and began teaching elementary school in Lordsburg, New Mexico. There she met her future husband James Ralph (Doc) Nicholson. Doc and Jean were married May 10th, 1941 and moved to Hatch, New Mexico. The Lord blessed this union with two daughters, Joanne and Janice. After her husband served in World War II the family moved to Chicago where Doc subsequently received his degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. The Nicholson's then moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where James began an optometry practice and later Jean began teaching at Kaune Elementary school. Jean was a longtime faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She held many offices in the women's group and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed many years with the Christian Women's Club and a local garden society. For the past 14 years, Jean lived in Albuquerque at Brookdale Place and had many friends and such good times while living there. Survivors include, daughter, Joanne Tims, and her husband, Larry, of Lake Dallas, Texas; daughter, Janice Buvinghausen, and her husband, Michael, of Bosque Farms, New Mexico; grand- daughters, Tammy Motteler, Kim Gaffey and Lori Buvinghausen; grandsons, Zane Motteler and Kyle Buvinghausen; great grandchildren, Brandon Motteler, Justin and Kaitlyn Gaffey, Matthew, Mekaila, and Myles Motteler. Jean loved her family and so much enjoyed having them around her. She will be dearly missed by all of us. SIFRE-SOTO -- CALIXTO Age 78, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1958, born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, died Sunday, January 1, 2012. He is survived by his of wife of 53 years, Flora; sons, Wayne C. Sifre and wife, Pasquala and Roger L. Sifre; six grandchildren, Adam Sifre and wife Sarrah, JJ, Michelle, Jude, Brandie and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Marriah and Victoria; one brother, Hector Ayala of Puerto Rico; and several nieces and nephews. SPRINGER -- FRANZ A. One of eight sons of Frank and Mary Springer, born in 1927 in San Antonio, TX, passed away on January 4, 2012. Mr. Springer is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Frances, of the family home; children, Eric Springer of Albuquerque, Patricia Springer of Denver, CO, and Jeanie Springer Knight and husband, Judd, of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Marlo Springer, Wyatt and Ansel Duesenberg, and Nickelas and Miles Knight; brothers, Joy V. Springer and wife, Lynn of Saginaw, TX, Karl Springer and wife, Ann of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Doris Springer of Oroville, CA. Mr. Springer attended schools in San Antonio and received a BS degree from Texas A&M University. After serving in the army he retired from the reserves with the rank of Major. He lived in El Paso, TX for 12 years, employed by Hunt Building Corporation. In 1961 he moved his family to Albuquerque, NM where he later established Springer Construction Company, a general contracting firm. Over time, Mr. Springer strategically built, bought and developed buildings and land in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, his legacy to future generations of his heirs. He was an active member of the Christian Science Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and worked on numerous building projects and on the Executive Board. He was a member of the American Legion Post 13, the Rotary Club of Albuquerque where he was active on the Camino Real committee and others. He and his wife performed with the NMSO Chorus for 19 years, and in his latter years he found great delight performing on the tuba with Albuquerque Concert Band, the Brassbyterian Quintet, the VFW Band and the Rotary Brass. Mr. and Mrs. Springer enjoyed traveling with their family internationally, and in 2008 they moved to La Vida Llena Senior Center. A Memorial service for Mr. Springer will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 8th at French - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with a reception to follow immediately. VALVERDE -- GILBERT Age 78, a resident of Los Lunas, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. He was a Korean War Veteran and a retired PHD from the Federal Government. Gilbert is also a retired Deacon after serving thirty years at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eufelia Valverde and his father Antonio Valverde. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife, Ella Valverde; sons, Marvin Valverde and his wife Teresa and Arthur Valverde; daughters, Donna Cisneros and her husband Larry and Shirley Gutierrez; brothers, Dan Valverde and Joe Valverde; grandchildren, James Valverde, Jackie Sanchez, Joseph Valverde, Daniel Valverde, Alicia Gutierrez and Dominic Cisneros; and great-granddaughter, Lorelai Valverde. All services will be held at San Clemente Catholic Church beginning with a viewing on Sunday, January 8, 2011 at 6:00 PM followed by a Vigil Service at 7:30 PM with recitation of the Rosary led by Deacon George Valverde. WATKIN -- ALAN Age 51- "As of today I will no longer be fighting to survive lung cancer, because from now on lung cancer will have to fight to survive ME." With this kind of tenacity, Alan lived and inspired those around him. This limitlessly talented man humbly graced us with his beautiful creations, and will live on in the hearts he touched and the art he left behind. Equally at home in the mountains and the desert, Alan was a New Mexican through and through. After spending his youth and the earlier part of his adult life in his home town of Las Cruces, he lived with his family in Bosque Farms for fifteen years. Alan passed away on December 30, 2011 in Charlotte, NC, where he lived with his wife of 28 years. Alan is survived by his wife, Deborah Apodaca, two spawn: Nicholas and Megan Coleman-Watkin; his sister, Diana Ward and her husband, Bob; brother, Steven Watkin and his wife, Carol; his closest niece, Jennifer Ramos; several other wonderful nieces and nephews, and a crapload of friends. Alan was involved in many things, though his passions were skiing and art. At Alan's request, we invite his friends to join us in celebrating his life at the family home at 3:00pm, Saturday, January 7th, 2012, 415 Ranchitos Rd., Bosque Farms, NM 87068. As a lifelong NON-smoker who was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, Alan became an advocate for lung cancer awareness. YOUNG -- PERSEUS GRACE Infant daughter of Daryl and LaTosha Young, was called to be with the Lord on January 2, 2012. Although we did not have the opportunity to welcome her into life, we will love and cherish her forever. Perseus will live on in the hearts of her family through all eternity. She is survived by her parents, Daryl and LaTosha Young; brothers and sister, Marcus, lsaiah, Elijah, Josiah and Jade; great-grandparents, Grace Nelms, Nancy Coon, Bob and Mary Coon; grandparents, Burnette Toney, Donna and Jeff Sparr, Peter and Theresa Lovato; and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
