Obituary for SPRINGER

FRANZ A. One of eight sons of Frank and Mary Springer, born in 1927 in San Antonio, TX, passed away on January 4, 2012. Mr. Springer is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Frances, of the family home; children, Eric Springer of Albuquerque, Patricia Springer of Denver, CO, and Jeanie Springer Knight and husband, Judd, of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Marlo Springer, Wyatt and Ansel Duesenberg, and Nickelas and Miles Knight; brothers, Joy V. Springer and wife, Lynn of Saginaw, TX, Karl Springer and wife, Ann of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Doris Springer of Oroville, CA. Mr. Springer attended schools in San Antonio and received a BS degree from Texas A&M University. After serving in the army he retired from the reserves with the rank of Major. He lived in El Paso, TX for 12 years, employed by Hunt Building Corporation. In 1961 he moved his family to Albuquerque, NM where he later established Springer Construction Company, a general contracting firm. Over time, Mr. Springer strategically built, bought and developed buildings and land in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, his legacy to future generations of his heirs. He was an active member of the Christian Science Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and worked on numerous building projects and on the Executive Board. He was a member of the American Legion Post 13, the Rotary Club of Albuquerque where he was active on the Camino Real committee and others. He and his wife performed with the NMSO Chorus for 19 years, and in his latter years he found great delight performing on the tuba with Albuquerque Concert Band, the Brassbyterian Quintet, the VFW Band and the Rotary Brass. Mr. and Mrs. Springer enjoyed traveling with their family internationally, and in 2008 they moved to La Vida Llena Senior Center. A Memorial service for Mr. Springer will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 8th at French - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with a reception to follow immediately.
