POHUTSKI -- Mark A. Pohutski, age 56, extraordinary singer/guitar player/humorist, died quietly at his home in Albuquerque on Sunday, October 26, 2008. Mr. Pohutski, known to his friends and musical colleagues as "Mr. P", was born in Wyandotte, MI on November 28, 1951. He graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn in 1969 and completed courses in electronics repair at RETS Electronics School, also in the Detroit area. Mr. P came to Albuquerque in the early 1970's while travelling across country with one of his bands. He was so taken by this city and his success here as a musician that he made it his home. Over the years he sang like a bird, played tasteful guitar and delivered an almost relentless barrage of jokes to nightclub audiences with bands like "Barnaby", "Soundstage" and others. In more recent years he managed sound and lights for other groups, all the while making guest appearances on guitar and vocals whenever he got the chance. Mark is survived by siblings Allen (Gail), Marilyn, Nanette, Michael, Gregory (Linda) and James. Mark never married. The family has planned an Outdoor Memorial Service at the Rio Grande Nature Center Park, 2901 Candelaria Rd NW for Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. After the service, friends and colleagues will gather at Blue Jeans Lounge, 9018 Central Ave SE, for a jam session to celebrate Mark's life. Mark was a master of unconventional wisdom. His natural intellect and intense curiosity gave him the courage to do almost anything he set his mind to. His guiding principal was best expressed by Oscar Wilde: "There is no sin except stupidity."
