BENTLEY -- Loren Blanton Bentley Jr. was born October 4, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota of Loren and Betty Bentley. He received a BA from McMurray College and an MA from New Mexico State University. Loren taught high school and middle school for 35 years in a number of districts throughout Texas and New Mexico and was currently employed in the Roswell Independent School District. He had been principal at Pecos and Sunset Elementary and Mesa Middle School. He was also the 1995 president of the NMMI Parents' Club. His love of computers and travel led him to become a private pilot and to employment with Radio Shack, where he became a district manager, but his greatest love was the classroom. He had been active in judo for 50 years. He was an active instructor for most of that time and had students worldwide. He followed the maxims of judo everyday of his life and exemplified jita kyoei. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marjorie; his children, Michelle Fox and husband Robert, Loren III and wife, Angela; three grandchildren, Chase A. Fox, Loren IV, and Justin Bentley; his father, Loren Sr.; and siblings, Brenda, John, Paul, and Curtis Bentley. He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty. Services will be Friday, April 11, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at French's Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE. Albuquerque, NM. Internment will be at Southpark Cemetery, Roswell, NM, Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. with a reception to follow. Pallbearers will be members of the Yawara Judo Association. CASIAS -- Maria Amelia Casias, 74, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away during the early morning of April 8, 2008 with her husband at her side. She was born June 17, 1933 in Mora, NM. She was the middle child of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Magdalena Cordova, and brothers Fred and Lorenzo. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Pat Casias; daughter, Veronica Jaramillo and husband Raymond; son, Henry Casias and wife Kathi; three grandchildren, Jessica Jaramillo-Anaya and husband Louie; Justin and Ryane Casias; and sisters, Viola Cordova and Marcela Valdez. She was a strong, beautiful, and loving woman who adored her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Her family's faith in God brings them peace, knowing that she is reunited with her loved ones and resting peacefully in Heaven. Mom, Grandma, we love you so much and we will miss you! COOK -- Pleas M. Cook, "Pop", passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, after a brief illness at the age of 84. "Pop" is survived by his loving wife, Lilian; his best friend and twin brother, Pearl Cook and wife, Jo; three sons, Martian and wife, Rusty, Richard and wife, Cindy, and Don and wife, Liz; grandsons, Chris, Ken, and Donnie; granddaughters, Shirley, Chevonne, Therese, Heidi, and Jaimee; and great-grandchildren, Jaricah, Kieran, Brendon, Breanne, Brylen, Tamyra, and Chastin. Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his loving grandson, Chad Cook. Pop touched many, many lives with his gentleness, kindness and generosity. He will be extremely missed by all who knew and loved him. CORWIN -- Ellera Judson "Cork" Corwin, Our honored and much beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died on April 8, 2008. He is survived by his spouse, Beatrice Janet Stevenson Corwin; his children, Kathleen Annette Corwin, Linda Louise Corwin, Steven Kim Corwin and wife, Joanne; grandchildren, Derek Luthy and wife, Jenny; and their children, Natalie and Parker, Cory Corwin, BoMee Corwin, Micah Corwin, Mariah Corwin, Asia Corwin; his sister, Betty "Penny" Eastvold; brother-in law; sisters-in -law; nieces, nephews, and friends. Ellera Corwin retired from Sandia Laboratories. He was also a World War II veteran, a Purple Heart recipient, and a Prisoner of War in Germany's Stalag Luft III, participating in the events of the "Great Escape" in that prison camp. EGAN-KIRKPATRICK -- Ella Egan Kirkpatrick, age 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Saturday, April 5, 2008. She was preceded in death by husband of 17 years, James A. Egan in 1958, husband of 5 years, Dahl J. Kirkpatrick in 1991, special friend, Alan Gross in 2001 and beloved sisters, Effie Wyche, Dot Bosley and Orrel Brownlea and brothers, George and Leonard Stanton. She is survived by son, James D. Egan and wife, Suzanne LaBelle and granddaughter, Elise Egan of Wilmette, IL; daughter, Sue Gunckel and husband, Fred of Albuquerque; step-son, John Kirkpatrick and wife, Carolyn of Albuquerque, step-daughter, Elsie Kimbrell of Arlington, VA and their children and grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ella was born to Elwin and Sarah (Hanson) Stanton on December 23, 1920 in Clinton, Minnesota, where she was reared. Ella traveled the world often in the company of her dear friend and co-worker, Mary Hensch. She retired from the Forest Service in 1983 as directives manager and editor. An avid genealogist since her retirement she was a member of the Genealogy Club of the Albuquerque Public Library for which she was honored as an "outstanding volunteer" in the Albuquerque Journal. She also spent many years as a coordinator for Meals on Wheels, served as president of the local chapter of Toastmistresses International, was a lifetime member of the Retired Federal Employees Assn. and the Forest Service Amigos for which she edited the newsletter, and was a longtime member and Deacon at Immanuel Presbyterian Church. Her final years were spent at Grand Court in Albuquerque where she served as an officer in the Residents Assn. Cremation has taken place. ELDER -- Floyd C. Elder, 76, a resident of Albuquerque, passed from this life on Thursday, April 3, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ellen; son, David of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Lisa Fletcher of Ohio; six grandchildren; brother and sisters, Everett Elder of Roswell, Maidie Lee Werner of Pittsburgh, PA, and Dorothy Brinkley of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Delbert Hawkins of Las Cruces; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, Cecil Elder and Winnie Mae Hawkins. Floyd was born on September 24, 1931 to the late Lee and Bertha Elder. He worked at Sandia National Laboratory for 33 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of B.P.O.E. 461, and the American Radio Relay League. Floyd was an avid Ham Radio Operator, forever known as WD5HDY. Memorial Services will be held for Floyd on Saturday, April 12, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. ELLIS -- Marie H. Ellis, 91, of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. She was born May 24,1916 in Dunkirk, WI. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Fay M. Ellis; two sons, James F. Ellis and Phillip M. Ellis; a brother, Daryl M. Hanson; a sister, Eldean Soward. She is survived by her children, Cathy Irvin and husband, Bill, Janet Elliot; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Ellis, all of Albuquerque. Ted Ellis and wife, Barbara, of Montgomery, TX; Chuck Ellis of Dallas. She is also survived by a brother, Borg Hanson, of Bloomington, MN; a sister, Joan Stanton, of Canton, GA. Marie has eight grandchildren, Keith Ellis, Karli Venable, Cristen Tyson, Justin Irvin, Todd Ellis, Jason Ellis, Lisa Elliot, and Leslie Hughes. Marie has nine great-grandchildren, Ethan and Paden Hughes, Aiden and Avery Ellis, Tyler and Ashlynn Ellis, Jackson Elliot, Lily Tyson, and Noah Venable. Marie was long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and founding member of the Albuquerque Scandinavian Club. FISHER -- 1934 - 2008 Kenneth Joe Fisher, known as Joe or Joseph, 73, a resident of Tijeras and former longtime resident of Belen, went to meet our Lord on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, with his family by his side. Born June 12, 1934, to Chester Jackson and Rebecca Vineyard Fisher in Stanley, NM, he attended school there through the seventh grade. He and is parents moved to Los Costancia in the Belen area, and he attended school through the ninth grade, then went to Keene, Texas and graduated from Southwestern Seventh Day Adventist Junior College. In 1954, he moved to Albuquerque, and shortly after, met the love of is life Glenda Nell Culp, in Belen. They were married on June 12, 1957, and were happily married for 51 years until his death. He worked for many places and enjoyed many trades, being employed in road and building construction and the AT&SF Railroad in Belen from 1958 to 1967. He and his wife, Glenda, owned and operated Culp's Western Wear and Automotive from 1966 to 2004. In 1982, he developed and subdivided land in Tijeras until his death. He is survived by his wife, Glenda (Culp) Fisher; their three children, Gerald Fisher of Coppell, Texas, Anita and Clyde Wages of Belen, and Susan and Kent Miller of Belen; nine grandchildren, Tamra and husband, Kevin Scott, Kristin D. and husband, Earl E. Chavez, Joshua and Jessica Thomson, Marc and Ryan Miller, Carlton, Brian and Kristen A. Fisher; their great-grandchildren, Earl B. and Kaitlyn Chavez, and Hendrix Scott two brothers, Jack and Chester W. and wife, Margaret Fisher; two sisters, Effie and husband, Howard Birch, and Reba Mooney; a sister-in-law, Iris Fisher; a brother-in-law, George R. Culp; and 13 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Belen. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the First Methodist Church, 75 Manzano Expressway in Rio Communities. GARCIA -- Richard Michael Garcia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the age of 58. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Aurelio and Rosaura Candelaria; paternal grandparents, Bernardino and Anita Garcia; brother, Anthony T. Garcia; nephew, Vincent J. Garcia; brother-in-law, Leonardo Abeyta and beloved mother-in-law, Barbara G. Abeyta Richard is survived by his wife, Jane Garcia; three sons, Ricardo, Jaime, and Elias Garcia; parents, Richard and Margaret Garcia; sisters, Bernadette Hernandez and husband, Manuel, Francesca Lopez and husband, Mike, Elizabeth Baldonado and husband, Tony, Juliana LeTourneau and husband, Steve; brother, Vincent Garcia; god son, Anthony Baldonado and wife, Kirsten; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him.
