STANSBERY -- Kirk D. Stansbery, 57, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1983, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2007. Kirk was born November 17, 1950 in North Platte, NE. He had been a carpenter in the commercial construction business. Kirk loved music and often performed with various family musical groups as lead vocalist, and guitarist. He also performed with the group Goldentones. Kirk is survived by his parents, Allen and Wanita Nichelson; brothers and sisters, Dee of Richmond, CA, Kipp of Rio Rancho, NM, Darrin of Richmond, CA, Dale of Sacramento, CA, Patrick of Albuquerque, NM, and Stephane of Nebraska City, NE; five nieces, Emily, Ciara, Kaila, Leah, and Dana. The visitation for Kirk will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho. The Service will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Outreach Center, 2900 Southern Blvd., SE, Rio Rancho, with Pastor Kent Barnard officiating. Interment will take place at a later time. STRONGIN -- Elaine C. Strongin, age 73 of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2007 at a local hospital. She was born February 15, 1934 in Columbus, NE to Charles and Margaret Louis. Mrs. Strongin is survived by her children, Barbara S. Kraft, Tim S. Strongin and his wife, Barbara all of Albuquerque, Terry W. Strongin and his wife, Kathy of Wellington, FL, Paul Lloyd Strongin and his wife, Kathryn of Castaic, CA; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Judy L. Crozier of NE and Patricia Hedrick of Omaha, NE; brothers, Marvin Louis of NE and Warren Louis of MT; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Strongin was preceded in death by her parents. TURPEN -- Armond R. Mr. Armond R. Turpen, 73, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on November 29, 2007. Mr. Turpen is survived by his cousins, Laura G. Cruz and husband Miguel from Norwalk, CA and Henry C. Gonzalez and wife, Theresa of South Gate, CA; and his special friend and companion, Marie Baca from Isleta, NM; his grandchildren, Mark Baca and Veronica Piro from Isleta, NM and many friends who knew him at the V.F.W. Post 6216. Mr. Turpen was a member of the Catholic Church, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Korean Conflict and was also a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. A visitation will be Wednesday, December 5, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 8:30 a.m. A Communion Service will follow the Rosary at 9:00 a.m., Deacon Santos Abeyta, presider. Committal Services will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., with full military honors by the United States Volunteers. WHEELER -- Lucille Edith Wheeler, 82, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 25 years, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2007. Lucille was born December 31, 1924 the daughter of Vincent A. and Lucy Mae Francis Burres in Suffern, NY. She was raised in Stony Point, NY, and a graduate of New York University School of Nursing. She served as an Army nurse during World War II where she was stationed in Kansas. Lucille retired from nursing in 1982. She was a co-founder of the Meadowlark Senior Center, where she continued as a volunteer until the time of her death. She was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was loved by all who knew her. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Albert V. Wheeler and one daughter, Claire Levitt. She is survived by one son, Vincent Wheeler of Nyack, NY; one granddaughter, Lisa Velarde of Rio Rancho, NM; three great-grandchildren, Adam Martin, Shanon Velarde, and Amanda Velarde; and son-in-law, Donald Levitt of Rio Rancho, NM. The Service for Lucille will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1351 19th Avenue SE, Rio Rancho, with Pastor Erick Redic officiating. WILLIAMSON -- Glen Ray Williamson, 65, of Hobbs, NM passed away on November 29, 2007 in Lubbock, TX. He was born on June 27, 1942 in Iraan, TX to Charles Ersel and Dorotha "Dee" (Kirkland) Williamson. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Adams officiating. Judge Jack Bailey and Ron Newcomb will assist. Services have been entrusted to Calvary Memorial Funeral Home of Hobbs. Glen moved to Hobbs from Santa Fe in 1994. He was an attorney for the Public Defender's office. He graduated from Andrews High School. He graduated from Baylor University in Waco, TX with a law degree. He was a District Attorney in Kermit, TX. He had a private law practice in Andrews, TX and Santa Fe, NM. Glen loved to play golf, cook and practice law. He was of Baptist faith. Glen is survived by his spouse of the home, Margaret Armijo and her two children: Paul and his wife, Carla and Mickey and wife, Robbie; two sons: Kennon Williamson and wife, Shannan and Corey Williamson and wife, Necole, all of Odessa, TX; one brother: Dale Williamson and wife, Jann of Flowermound, TX; one sister: Yvonne Hightower and husband, Bobbe of Grandbury, TX; a step-brother: Lanar Burns; a special aunt: Lois Couch of Seymour, TX; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Honorary pallbearers are the law enforcement community of Lea County, the 5th Judicial District Judges, colleagues and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

BELL -- James Mandel Bell, age 67, passed away in his home in Tome, NM on Monday morning, November 26, 2007. Mandel was born January 16, 1940 in Albuquerque, and after stints in the US Coast Guard and the US Navy, went to work as a metal fabricator in Illinois. He returned to New Mexico and ran his own metal fabrication operation until his retirement. He was known by his many friends and family for his kindness and generosity. His mother, Olive McCaskill Bell; his two children, Eddie Bell and Mandie Bell; four grandchildren; six brothers; and two sisters, all of Albuquerque, survive Mandel. There will be a Memorial Celebration of Mandel's life on December 29, 2007 at the Tanoan Country Club, 10801 Academy Rd. NE, from 1-5 p.m. Those who knew Mandel are invited to join his family in remembering him.

CHAVEZ -- MARIA P. Mrs. Maria P. Chavez, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 3, 2007, and is now in Heaven with our Lord. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her daughter, Cathy Wilson and husband, Fletcher; stepdaughter, Josie Barajas and husband, Joe; two sisters, Kella Herrera and Nattie Saavedra; a brother, Phil Padilla and wife, Nay; two grandchildren, Angela Smith and husband, Rich and Joe Wilson; step-grandchildren, Betty Vallejos and husband, Albert, Joanne Saine and husband, John, Tommy Barajas, Patrick Barajas and wife, Gayle, and Michael Barajas; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Chavez was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Chavez; parents, Justiniano and Josefina Padilla; a brother, Max Padilla; and sisters, Sofie Saavedra and Emily Torres; and a step-grandson, Bobby Barajas. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation for Mrs. Chavez will be Thursday evening in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Friday morning from 8:15 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School NE, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father Tom Zotter. Pallbearers will be Joe Wilson, Tom Barajas, Ronald Saavedra, Patrick Barajas, Steve Saavedra, and David Padilla.
