PARDEE -- Jack McKnight Pardee, 94, died at home in Albuquerque on October 10, 2007. He was born August 9, 1913 in Buffalo, NY, the first child of Robert McKnight Pardee and Emily Purvis Pardee. Jack married Alice Pike in Phoenix, AZ in June 1939. Alice died September 14, 1993. Jack graduated from Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO in 1936 with a degree in mining engineering. At Mines he lettered in football, track and wrestling. Upon graduation he was commissioned in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Reserves. He was called to active duty in January 1941. Stationed first at Ft. Belvoir, VA, Jack was shipped to Europe as the commanding officer, 1281 Engineers Combat Battalion in December 1944. His unit was redeployed to the Philippine Islands in August 1945. Lt. Col. Jack Pardee was detached from active duty in April 1946. Before and after the war, Jack worked for Miami Copper Co., Miami, AZ, as supervisor, mineral exploration drilling. From 1952-54 he was employed by Cerro de Pasco Corp. as project supervisor for exploration of the Cuajone copper ore-body in southern Peru, South America. Jack spent the last 20 years of his career as a mining engineer for the U.S. Forest Service, retiring in 1978 as regional mining engineer for the SW Region. Jack was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and hunting. A committed conservationist, he dedicated many hours to volunteer projects with the Sandia Ranger District, cross-country ski club and Albuquerque Wildlife Federation. Jack began running at age 47 and continued to run daily until his knee cartilage gave out at age 83. He began competing in cycling events in the late 1970s and set several national records in the 20K time trials at Moriarty. Jack competed in the N.M. Senior Olympics from 1979-2005 and won numerous medals in cycling, triathlon, running, discus, javelin, shot put and air pistol/rifle. From 1987-2001 he competed in the National Senior Olympics 8 times, again winning many medals. Jack is survived by his five children: Lenore, Jude, Mavourneen and husband, Carl Valvo, Robie, Gordy and wife, Debra; eight grandchildren: Melina Patterson, Delaney Hall, Corina Valvo and husband, Chester Cappucci, Genevra Valvo, Nick Valvo, Avery Pardee and husband, Ray Waid, Sean Pardee, and Monica Pardee; four great-grandchildren: Chris, Nick and Giuliana Cappucci and Julian Rojas Valvo. Jack also is survived by his brothers, William M. Pardee and wife, Jane, Robert P. Pardee and wife, Doris, and by his sister, Constance Braxton; as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jack's life will be held at Daniels Family funeral chapel, 1100 Coal Ave. S.E. on November 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in the National Cemetery, Santa Fe, at a later date. ROBERT -- Elaine Robert passed away in Albuquerque October 4, 2007 from complications of heart disease. She was born May 4, 1922 in Vienna, Austria and emigrated to the United States with her family in November 1938. Her husband, the eminent pianist George Robert, whom she had married in 1944, preceded her in death. Elaine will be sorely missed and remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, as well as a wonderful friend to legions of people who reveled in her warmth, support, generosity, fabulous cooking and great sense of humor. One could always count on her to be available and immensely helpful. Elaine taught German at UNM for over two decades. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Carl) Widhalm; her grandsons, Jason (Stephanie) Clark, Brandon Clark, and Ryan (Heather) Clark, all of Denver; her brother, Fred (Lane) Todrys of New York; several nephews and cousins. Elaine and George supported numerous organizations over the years. In their spirit memorial gifts may be made to: Albuquerque Chamber Soloists, P.O. SENA -- Anastacio The Family of Anastacio Sena would like to take this opportunity to thank our many friends and family for their most generous acts of kindness. SIEGENTHALER -- Loy Sue Siegenthaler, a friend and support to so many people, died peacefully in her sleep, Friday evening, March 23, 2007. Loy, throughout the years worked for APS as a teacher, counselor, and psychologist. She particularly loved the time spent doing education workshops in Taos and around New Mexico. She was an active participant with organizations that worked for human rights and dignity. She never tired of reminding us all to take personal responsibility for our lives and for what we saw happening around us. A Celebration of her life, with lots of stories and food, will be held Sunday, October 28, 2007, 1 p.m., at the Mabel Dodge Lujan House in Taos.

SMITH -- Nora Patricia (Pat) Smith, age 71, a life-long resident of Albuquerque joined our Lord on Wednesday, October 10, 2007. Pat was a loving mother and she cherished her grandchildren. She had worked at Dillard's in Albuquerque. Pat enjoyed the family gatherings and looked forward to the World Series Baseball Games. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent D. and Nora P. Degan; and her son, Gary Smith. Pat is survived by her two loving sons, David Smith and his wife, Ann of Belen and Brian Smith and his wife, Janice of Albuquerque; her loving daughter, Maureen Garrett and her husband, J P of Albuquerque; daughter-in-law, Jayne Smith of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Tammy and Matthew Smith, Brandon Garrett and his wife, Patricia, and Kelly Garrett, Kevin and Nicholas Smith, all of Albuquerque; step-grandchildren, Barbara Sue Jones and her husband, Paul of Portales, and Melissa Lechuga and her husband, Jacob of Belen; great-grandchildren, Austen and Hunter Jones of Portales, and Jadyen Lechuga of Belen. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley, on Monday, October 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with a Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Sam Sais officiating. TJELTWEED -- Oswald B. Tjeltweed, born June 1, 1924, passed away October 8, 2007. Ozzie grew up in Binford, ND. His family moved to Billings, MT after he graduated from high school. He spent seven years as a navigator in the Air Force, flying in B-17's and B-29's. Ozzie went to work at Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque as an electrical engineer after graduating from Montana State University in 1953. He retired in 1985 and enjoyed golf, travel, his family and friends. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Lisa Joy, and two sisters, Lillian and Borghild. Ozzie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred Weeden of Wynne, AR; a son, Chuck; a daughter, Linda Chapman and husband, Ronnie; two grandsons, Leigh Chapman and wife, Shannon, Curtis Chapman and wife, Kathy; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Ann Shaw of Billings, MT and Dayle Parker of Sylmar, CA. A Graveside Service will be held for the family at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
