AVALOS -- LORENZO M. SR. Mr. Lorenzo M. Avalos Sr., 81, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 25, 2005. Mr. Avalos is survived by his children, Raymond Avalos, Erlinda Garcia, Rudy Avalos and wife, Olga, Henry Avalos, Rosie Lopez, Lorenzo Avalos Jr. and wife, Sandra; one sister, Ysidra Rios; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Avalos was preceded in death by his wife, Elvira; a brother, Frank; a sister, Fernanda Meraz; a son-in-law, Robert Lopez Sr.; two grandsons, Rudy Avalos Jr., and Joe (Chip) Garcia Jr. A visitation for Mr. Avalos will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. by Pastor Ernest Francia. Final visitation will be Saturday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service to be held at 1:00 p.m. by Pastor Ernest Francia. CAMPOS -- Adelaida Campos went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2005 at the age of 67. She was born on March 30, 1938 in Jalisco, Mexico. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. CARVER -- Lloyd Dale Carver, age 68, formerly of Belen, NM, now of Sidney, MT, passed away in Sidney on December 26, 2005. Dale was born in Farmington, NM to Carl Floyd Carver and Virgie Lee Harding and lived in the Grants community while he was growing up. He married Melva Lavern Carver in Grants, NM on May 11, 1962. The couple moved to Belen in 1966 where they stayed to raise their family. Dale and Lavern moved to Sidney in 1988. Dale served in the U.S. Army Infantry, Company A, 1st Brigade. Dale was a very active supporter of 4-H, the New Mexico Jr. Rodeo Association, a lifetime member of the Elks Club, Jaycees, and was a deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church in Sidney. He retired after 35 years with Farm Bureau Insurance. Dale was preceded in death by his father, Carl Carver; mother, Virgie Carver; wife, Melva Lavern Carver; sister, Mildred House; brothers, Charles Carver, Carl Carver Jr., John Carver, and Harold Carver; and grandson, Brandon Brock Elton. Dale is survived by three sons, Rendell Carver and his wife, Linda, of Los Alamos, NM, Robert Carver and his wife, Rosalie, of Peralta, NM, and Ryan Carver of Sidney; two daughters, Ronda Carver of Calverton, VA and Renee Carver of Sidney; his ten loving grandchildren, Ambir and Jason Luna, Ryan Barney, Michael Evans, Jason Evans, Ricky Ryan Elton, Adrienne Carver, Kyle Carver, Nathan Carver, Stephen Carver, and Hannah Carver; one great-grandchild, Ashley Luna; and three brothers, Lee Carver of Thoreau, NM, Ronald Carver of Red Oak, OK, and Larry Carver of Milan, NM. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Sidney, MT. DOBBS -- Forrest C. Dobbs, 85, a resident of Belen, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Stella Dobbs; two children, Anna Fraker and Clifford Dobbs; sister, Dorothy Jack; many nieces and nephews; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Forrest was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on February 29, 1920. He moved to Belen in December, 1941. Forrest went to work for Santa Fe Railroad at this same time and retired in December, 1984. Services will be held Friday, December 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Belen, 401 N. Becker St., Belen. DURAN -- Julian J. Duran, age 47, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2005. He was a lifetime resident of Cuba, NM and worked in the Oil Fields and as a Rancher. Preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Audelia Duran, Julian is survived by his wife, Yolanda Madrid Duran; children, Elyssa Duran and Anthony Madrid; grandson, "cowboy"; siblings, Fabiola and Clarence Morales, Chemo and Flora Duran, Ralph and Jessie Duran, all of Cuba, Gilbert and Sharon Duran of Bernalillo, Rick and Terry Duran of Lindrith, Jenny and Bill Chapman of Phoenix, AZ, Emma Dominguez of Rio Rancho, Cecilia and Jose Duarte of Los Lunas; 11 nephews; eight nieces; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends. He was greatly loved and will be missed. Julian will be forever in out thoughts, hearts and prayers. Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, New Mexico. EVANS -- Gladys Nash Evans, age 83, former resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Friday, December 23, 2005 in Vancouver, WA. She was born in Amarillo, TX on August 17, 1922. She was the fourth of six children. Gladys relocated to Vancouver, WA three years ago following the death of her husband, JC Evans, to whom she had been married for 62 years. She became very active in Vancouver in the life of First Congregational United Church of Christ where her son, The Rev. Ed Evans serves as pastor. She retired from General Electric in 1984 where she had served as a special company liaison at the GE plant in Wilmington, NC. Gladys had a passion for social justice, serving as a Hunger Action Enabler in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in New Mexico. In Vancouver she has been a mentor of children, a participant in social justice marches and parades and a spiritual spark in her church. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, JC and daughter, Norma. Survivors include son, Rev. Ed Evans of Vancouver, WA; daughter, Beverly Gene Peterson of West Palm Beach, FL; brothers, Douglas Nash of Albuquerque, NM, and Leonard Nash of Cheyenne, WY; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. EVANS -- Isabel Darlene Evans, age 58 a native of Albuquerque, NM passed away Saturday, December 24, 2005. Surviving Isabel is her husband, Sergeant Major Danny C. Evans of Albuquerque; daughter, Dawn Marie Easley (Landon) of Yuma, AZ; son, Danny C. Evans II of Los Lunas; six sisters, Betty Trujillo, Ruth Pacheco, JoAnn Herrera, Mary Ellen Herrera, Virginia Chavez, and Romona Lopez; two brothers, Tony Herrera and Manuel Herrera; and four grandchildren, Grant Easley, Sarah Easley, Danny C. Evans III, and Justin Evans. Ms. Evans was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Community. FLORES -- Lynda Darlene Flores went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2005. She died at Presbyterian Hospital. GIRONDA -- Joe Gironda, 75, an Albuquerque resident since 1972, died Monday, December 26, 2005. Joe loved to sing and participated in Karaoke and he actually recorded a CD of his favorite songs. Joe was an avid golfer and over the past several years he was a member of the Albuquerque Senior Golf Association and the NM Senior Golf Association. HELGE -- Donna J. Helge of Albuquerque, NM died in Seward, NE on December 27, 2005 at the age of 74. She was born on July 30, 1931, at Ft. Wayne, IN. JARAMILLO -- FIDEL Mr. Fidel Jaramillo, 71, a resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away on December 27, 2005. Mr. Jaramillo is the beloved husband to Mrs. Lupe Jaramillo married for 44 years. Mr. Jaramillo is also survived by his children, Michael Jaramillo, Joseph Jaramillo and wife, Darlene, Yolanda Mares and Yvonne Martinez; four grandchildren, Mark Mares, Briana Jaramillo, Brittany Martinez, and Lauren Jaramillo; six sisters, Sefie Gonzales, Libby Gonzales, Juanita Apodaca, Ester Apodaca, Veronica Bustillos and husband, Luis, and Corine Gutierrez; four brothers, Leopoldo Jaramillo Jr., Raymer Jaramillo and wife, Nancy, Eulogio Jaramillo and wife, Liz, and Jimmy Tafoya; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. LYLE -- Janet Lyle, Born May 12, 1930, passed away December 24, 2005 after a full and fruitful life. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years H. Tom Lyle; children, Thom and Linda Lyle, Danny Joe and Linda Lyle, Steve Lyle, Pete and Christine Lyle, Jana and Paul Ortiz y Pino, Julie and Tony Pino, Rebecca Lyle and John Hartigan; grandchildren, Sean and Rene Lyle, Ewan and Marianne Lyle, Jeremiah, Ryan and Stephen Lyle, Joseph and Patrick Lyle, Jacob Ortiz y Pino, Jessica Ortiz y Pino and Stephen Martinez, Luke and Ben Ortiz y Pino, Lyle and Kim Pino and Curtis Pino, Zia Lyle and Teague Hartigan; Great Grandchildren: Joshua, Noah and Sarah Lyle, Carlitos, Emilio and Jacob Ortiz y Pino, Isaiah and Elijah Ortiz y Pino, and Josiah Martinez; sister, Henrietta Oder; brother and sister-in-law, David and Kristin Thomas; and many others who called her Ma, Grandma, sister, aunt, and best friend. Janet was a founding donor of St. Pius X High School and was instrumental in raising money to start girls athletics at St. Pius, Past President of Home & School and Altar Rosary Society at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School and Church, Charter member of Casa Angelica Auxiliary, past president and Chaplain of American Legion Auxiliary Post 75, Jemez Springs, NM. She lead many troops of cub scouts and girl scouts, and was a great bread maker. MONTOYA -- Don Chavez Montoya, 83, a former resident of Grant county and Deming, NM, entered eternal life Saturday December 24, 2005 at Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces. He was born June 1, 1922, the oldest son of Tomas and Liugarda (Chavez) Montoya. As a young man Don worked at Kennecott Copper Mines in Hurley. During World War II he served honorably in the Pacific Theater with the Army Air Corps for four years. He availed himself of a college education through the G.I. Bill, earning a B.A. degree from Western New Mexico State Teachers College in Silver City, in 1950. He continued his formal education while working with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Keams Canyon, AZ and received a M.A. degree in 1958. He worked at the Phoenix Indian School until 1962 when he moved to France with the Department of Defense Military Dependent Schools where he served as Principal of Toul American Junior High School. Upon his return to the United States in 1964 until his retirement in 1980, he worked for the Veteran's Affairs in Los Angeles, CA and in Albuquerque. In retirement Don lived in Albuquerque and Deming where he continued his affiliation with Toastmaster's International as well as the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veteran's and the Moose. An accomplishment of which he was very proud was spearheading the fund-raising needed for the purchase of vans used to transport veterans to and from medical appointments all over the southwestern part of New Mexico to Albuquerque. He continued to work with young people providing tutoring the STAR Program in Deming. Whenever Possible he encouraged them to seek higher education. In an effort to continue his support of education, Don and Della funded a program at New Mexico State University that pays for tutoring/remediation for reading programs by university students in the College of Education. Before he passed away, Don communicated to his family that he wished it be acknowledged how much he appreciated his family supporting him through his battle with lung cancer for the past 6 months. Mr. Montoya is survived by his wife of 65 years, Della H. Montoya of Las Cruces; one son, Dr. Donald H. Montoya and his wife, Kim of Silver City, NM; one daughter, Betty Jane Burlingame of Las Cruces; and one brother, Tom Montoya of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren: Stephen Montoya and his wife, Tracey of Santa Clarita, CA; Deborah Case and her husband, Allen of Concord, CA, Sean Montoya of Sylmar, CA; Deidre Montoya of Milwaukie, OR; Dominique Montoya of Las Cruces; Jessica Hallwyler of Portland, OR; and Alexander Hallwyler of Las Cruces; six great-grandchildren: Breanna Montoya, Paige Montoya, and Amber Montoya of Santa Clarita, CA, Oliver Perrault of Silver City, Gracie Perrault and Oskar Perrault of Las Cruces. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant daughter, Mary Montoya in 1950; and his brothers, Reyes and Hermino Montoya and Manuel Quintana. Visitation will be this afternoon from 3-6 p.m. with the Prayer Vigil beginning at 6 p.m. with Deacon Jerry Miller reciting the Holy Rosary. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday at noon at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Becerra Officiating. The Burial will follow at Ft. Bayard National Cemetery with Veteran Honors where he will be laid to rest. Pallbearers will be Stephen, Armando and Lawrence Montoya, Alexander Hallwyler, Zachary Morrish, and Orlando Franco. OMORI -- Yolanda Martinez-Omori was born on February 28, 1938 in Dixon, NM. She passed on Sunday, December 25, 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Simon and Mary Lou Martinez and her older brother, Alvarado (Ike) Martinez. Yolanda is survived by her loving husband, Donald Omori; and six children, Renee Georgieff, Arlene Jennings, Ken and wife, Rachael Adent, Denise Adent, Lisa and husband, Peter Hoecklin, Yolanda and husband, Freddie Jaramillo; ten grandchildren she adored, Stefanie, Andres (Nick), Tonya, Tracy, Leah, Hannah, Nadia, Tatiana, Madeleine, and Jarrod; seven step-children, Scott, Brian, Rob, Ladonna, Holli, Aaron, and Lon; three step-grandchildren, Derek, Ryan, and Nick; brothers, Mark and Don Martinez; as well as a wealth of dear friends, extended family and sisters and brothers of the church she loved. As a musician, social worker and teacher, she inspired all those she met with her optimism, faith, and compassion. Yolanda brought light, music and happiness not only into the lives of her children and grandchildren, but into the lives of countless friends and acquaintances. ROHRIG -- Martha Rohrig, 86, a 3-year Albuquerque resident, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005. She is survived by her son, Bill Rohrig and wife, Sherry of Albuquerque; daughter, Jane Marsden and husband, Jim of Flagler Beach, FL; grandchildren, Scott and Brent Rohrig, Jennifer Walker, and Guy Easterday; great-grandson, Nathan Walker. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Rohrig. She was active with the Bear Canyon Senior Center. Martha was an avid golfer and she enjoyed traveling. SANCHEZ -- ORLANDO ELI. Mr. Orlando Eli Sanchez, 80, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, flew his last mission navigating straight into the waiting arms of God and his beloved wife, Libby. Orlando prepared for his last flight at home at twelve o'clock high with his five children as his flight crew, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren present to see him off. Orlando broke through all barriers of speed, sound and ascended into the light of heaven on Christmas Day. Orlando was a decorated Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. in World War II in the China, Burma, India Theater. Mr. Sanchez was a member of the Catholic Church. Orlando is survived by his children, O. Paul Sanchez and wife, Christine, M. Yvette Sanchez, Cynthia A. Mitchell and husband, Joe, Joseph A. Sanchez, and David R. Sanchez. He was grandfather to Adam P. Sanchez of Washington, D.C., Joseph Brian Mitchell, Eric Shawn Mitchell, Jennifer Pauline Garcia and husband, Scott of Tacoma, WA, and Joseph Andrew Sanchez; two great-grandchildren, Alanna Mitchell and Tyler Mitchell; his cousins, Juan (Polo) Armijo and wife, Stella and Betty Simoni; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends. Orlando was preceded in death by his wife, Libby Loretta Sanchez. TULL -- John Thomas Tull Sr. a resident of Bosque Farms for over 51 years, passed away December 19, 2005, at Laurel Meadows Healthcare facility in Belen, NM after a long courageous battle against Parkinson's Disease. John was born July 17, 1918 in the "drylands" of southern Colorado near Las Animas, CO to John T. Tull and Mae A. (Larsen) (Tull) Thomas, who preceded him in death. Mr. Tull was also preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Y. (Kinder) Tull; step-father, Frank R. Thomas; sister, Bonnie M. Tull; brother, George W. Tull; and half-sister, Ada I. Stephens. John is survived by: son, Commander John T. Tull Jr. (USN, Ret.) and wife, Linda of Bosque Farms, NM; four sisters: Neta M. (Billee) Tull of Oklahoma City, OK, Vera Faucett of Longmont, CO, Helen Thomas of Denver, CO, and Lucille Baer of Las Animas, CO; and two grandchildren: Tamera Scorpio and husband, Jason of Fort Polk, LA and John T. Tull III and girlfriend, Miranda Groomes of San Diego, CA; and several nieces and nephews. John first came to Albuquerque in June 1941, after serving four years in the Navy on the battleship USS IDAHO (BB-42). He worked as a civil servant with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers when he came to Albuquerque and also joined the local Naval Reserve Unit to continue work as a Navy Lithographer/Printer. In August 1942, John was recalled to active duty for WWII service and was sent to San Diego, CA, where he served for three and one half years as an instructor for Navy Lithographers being assigned to operate print shops worldwide. He and Nadine returned to Albuquerque in February 1946. John returned to work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and they built a home in the North Valley. In May 1948 the Defense Atomic Support Agency, Nuclear Training Directorate, at what was then called Sandia Base (now Kirtland AFB) asked John to help them establish a new printing plant and he began work there. John had remained a Naval Reservist during this time and was recalled to active duty a second time for Korean War service in 1950. He and Nadine then spent the next two years on Kodiak Island, off Alaska, where he ran the base print shop. John and Nadine returned to Albuquerque in the summer of 1952, moved to Bosque Farms and resumed their jobs at Sandia Base. John continued his efforts in establishing and expanding the printing facility and was serving as Printing and Reproduction Foreman when he retired in May 1971 after 23 years. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held in Palm Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that the memorial contributions be made to the organizations dedicated to conducting research and finding cures for Parkinson's Disease and Macular Degeneration. WANGERIN -- Koleta Joyce Wangerin died December 23, 2005. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Earl Wangerin. She was privileged to know three famous men in her life. She began her singing career with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra, while singing in a hotel dining room in Rochester, NY she met Dr. Albert Einstein and spent a number of evenings at dinner with him. She met Dr. Charles Mayo of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and enjoyed interesting conversations with him. She was one-half Choctawani and was particularly proud of her Indian heritage. She was a wonderful hostess and loved her little doggies. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Foundation for the Blind or to Christ Lutheran Church and Scholarship Fund. ZSOLT -- ZSOLT of Santa Fe, NM died December 24, 2005, after a long illness. He was a lifelong humanitarian, a monkish poet and good friend. A citizen of the world, he grew up in Boulder, CO, London, and Quito, Ecuador, and resided in Boston, Paris, San Francisco, and Bern, Switzerland - making Santa Fe his primary residence for the past 21 years. He is survived by his parents, Barbara and Alan Robb; recent housemates, Michael and Galen; and many other people of all ages who befriended and adopted Zsolt into their families. In lieu of sending flowers, take a few moments to read a passage from the Bhagavad Gita, the Tao Te Ching, or listen to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.
