EVANS -- Gladys Nash Evans, age 83, former resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Friday, December 23, 2005 in Vancouver, WA. She was born in Amarillo, TX on August 17, 1922. She was the fourth of six children. Gladys relocated to Vancouver, WA three years ago following the death of her husband, JC Evans, to whom she had been married for 62 years. She became very active in Vancouver in the life of First Congregational United Church of Christ where her son, The Rev. Ed Evans serves as pastor. She retired from General Electric in 1984 where she had served as a special company liaison at the GE plant in Wilmington, NC. Gladys had a passion for social justice, serving as a Hunger Action Enabler in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in New Mexico. In Vancouver she has been a mentor of children, a participant in social justice marches and parades and a spiritual spark in her church. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, JC and daughter, Norma. Survivors include son, Rev. Ed Evans of Vancouver, WA; daughter, Beverly Gene Peterson of West Palm Beach, FL; brothers, Douglas Nash of Albuquerque, NM, and Leonard Nash of Cheyenne, WY; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
