MARTINEZ -- Senaida Martinez, age 81, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother was called to our heavenly Fathers home, Thursday, Januray 1, 2004. Senaida was born in Guadalupe, NM and was a resident of San Ysidro, NM. She was a parishioner of San Ysidro Catholic Church in San Ysidro, NM; a life member of the Miraculous Medal Association, and of Los Cursillos in Christianity. Senaida is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ramon L. Martinez of the family home; her wonderful son, Cresencio M. Martinez and wife Barbara; three precious grandchildren, Eric C. Martinez and wife Kristi of Snohomish, WA, Lysa M. Martinez of Albuquerque, NM, and Cresencio M. Martinez of California; two great-grandchildren, Scott and Jordan Martinez. Also surviving are two brothers, Albert Salas, Urban Salas and wife Elsie both of Albuquerque; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Senaida will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those who knew and loved her. Visitations will be held Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:00 p.m. also in the chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:30 a.m. at San Ysidro Catholic Church in San Ysidro, NM. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Casket bearers will be Henry Salas, Paul Chavez, Joe N. Lucero, Adam Salas, Bobby Montano, and Ralph Montano. PIRO -- Josephine G. Piro, age 85, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt was called to Our Father's Heavenly Home Tuesday, December 30, 2003. Our mom was born in Socorro, NM and was a long time resident of Albuquerque, NM. Josephine is survived by three daughters, Mary Theresa Saiz and husband, Joe Saiz of Albuquerque, Stella Silva and husband, J.R. Silva of Albuquerque and Louisa Rhoades and husband, Bob Rhoades, also of Albuquerque. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Rita Saiz of Las Vegas, NV, Sylvia, Diana, Pauline, Joseph, Liz and husband, Russ Dunning, Fred, and Precious, all of Albuquerque; 11 great-grandchildren, Veronica, Daisy and husband Rogelio Robles, Jessie Boy Chavez, Junior, Bernard, Reynaldo, Angelina, Josephine, Zachary, Joshua and Amanda, all of Albuquerque; and two great great-grandchildren, Rogelio Robles Jr. and Jesse Chavez Jr. Josephine is also survived by one brother, Philip Gallegos and one sister, Mary Posada, both of Stockton, CA and many nieces and nephews. Our Mom will be greatly missed by everyone. Our Mom had such a very kind and generous heart. Mom and grandmother had plenty of love for everyone. Our Mom was a member of Iglesia de Cristo. She was a beautiful and lovely, mother and grandmother. Our Mom had a great love for Our Heavenly Father. We will always have our mom, grandma, aunt and sister placed in our hearts always and forever. Visitation for Mrs. Piro will be held on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a Wake Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. ROPER -- Margaret Hay Roper, 93 often said she imported her parents, three brothers and one sister from Scotland so she could be born in America, in the territory of New Mexico. She referred to death as "going your merry way". She did so on Wednesday, December 31, 2003. Margaret was born October 6, 1910 to Scottish immigrants Thomas and Agnes Brown Hay in Koehler, Territory of New Mexico. Margaret was preceded in death by husband, Lyle D. Roper in 1975, and granddaughter Kenna Llane Strupe in 1986. She was the last of her immediate family that included her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include daughter, Margaret Alaine Roper of Albuquerque; son, James T. Roper and wife, Flo, of Raton, NM; granddaughters, Karen Janway and Mary Lynn Roper, both of Albuquerque; grandsons Steve Roper of Columbus, Ohio and Mark Roper of Raton; great-grandsons Brian Sherman, Daniel Roper, Jacob Roper, Tim McKee, numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 8 step grandchildren, 17 step great-grandchildren and 7 step great-great-grandchildren. Margaret Roper, while growing up, lived in various coal-mining camps and spent her early adulthood in Raton working and raising her family. In 1958, Margaret and Lyle moved to Albuquerque. She worked as a sales clerk in many areas of the city. Margaret was the first clerk hired to work for Toys by Roy, where she did what she loved most, spending much of her time with children. She was always there to support her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never knew a stranger and had the great gift of gab. Margaret touched many lives and will be remembered for her humor, story telling, care giving and generosity. One of the greatest highlights in her life was her trip to Scotland for her 84th Birthday. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Raton, NM. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. SANCHEZ -- Rose B. Sanchez, 80, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, December 29, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Mary R. Sorensen of Altadena, CA; son, Antonio S. Sanchez and wife Martha, Jerry D. Sanchez and wife Lee Ann, both of Albuquerque, Charles P. Sanchez and wife Lisa of San Bernardino CA; 12 grandchildren, Tony Sorensen, Gina Hernandez, Tommy Sanchez, Sandra Sanchez, Jim Bagadov, Richard Sanchez, Michelle Sanchez, Kellie Cordova; Sage Sanchez, Tim Sanchez, Joseph Sanchez, and Yvette Jaramillo; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Jesus Campos; sisters, Louise Gutierrez and husband Fito, and Martha Muniz and husband Alfredo. She was preceded in death by her husband Serafin "Cider" Sanchez in 1993. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. SAXTON -- William (Bill) Alfred Saxton, age 79, passed away on January 1, 2004, due to complications of Alzheimers Disease. Bill was born January 10, 1924 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Willie and Elizabeth (Whitney) Saxton who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Pauline Mary (Sandoval) Saxton; and by his brother, Robert Saxton. Bill graduated from high school in McNary, Arizona and at age 18 he joined the United States Marine Corps. He enlisted in Phoenix, Arizona on July 1, 1942 and was sent to Camp Pendleton, California for basic training where he qualified as a Rifle Marksman, Light-truck driver and automotive mechanic. After boot camp, Bill was assigned to the 4th Marine Division, Asiatic Pacific Area with Fleet Marine Force. He saw combat at Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Island and Saipan, Marianas Islands. Like most of the "Greatest Generation", he was very proud of his service to his country but spoke very little about it. Upon his Honorable discharge in San Pedro, California on April 21, 1947 he came to Albuquerque to visit family. This is where he met, fell in love with and married Pauline. They had three children who survive them, Nancy Ann Hulett (husband, Robert, Sr.) of Taylorsville, Utah; Renee Louise Pagan (husband, Richard) of Albuquerque and Ronald Alan Saxton (wife, Lorraine) also of Albuquerque. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Robert Hulett Jr., Morris Hulett, Gwen Barrett, Jonathan Saxton, Jared Hamblin, Jason Pagan, and Brian Pagan; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan Hulett, Eian Barrett, Aubrey Barrett, Gabrielle Pagan and Alexander Pagan. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Bill was an avid hunter and was well known for his abilities as a gunsmith and over-all fix it man. He was a strong honest and generous man who will be missed on this earth and mourned by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place, private family services to be held at a later time. Those who wish to honor Bill's life are requested to make a donation to their favorite charity/cause. SHEAFFER -- Franklin M. Sheaffer, Age 73, of Albuquerque, passed away on November 27, 2003. Franklin was retired from the U.S. Air Force, and spent time in both Korea and Thailand. He is survived by a brother, Clifford Ward, and sister, Sharon Ward, of E. Petersburg, PA as well as three sons, Jeffery Ludwig of Santa Fe, Frank Sheaffer of Albuquerque, and David Sheaffer of Murfreesboro, TN. A service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery is scheduled for January 5, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. May he rest in peace.

SLAVIN -- Anna Marie Slavin, 79, loving wife and mother, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, December 21, 2003. She was a resident of Bermuda Dunes, CA for 5 1/ 2 years formerly of Albuquerque for 37 years. Anna's Survivors include her husband of 52 years, James J. Slavin; three daughters, Kitty Norris and husband, Terry of Bosque Farms, NM, Patcy Ashby and husband, Jimmy of Rio Rancho, NM, Peggy Chank and husband, Larry of Bermuda Dunes, CA; one brother, James W. Helfrich and wife, Barbara of Mentz, TX; four grandchildren, George Bleicher and wife, Jamie, Cody Ashby, Kyle Chank, and Kaley Chank. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Gate of Heaven, 7500 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Fr. Hugh J. Curran CSB, of Houston TX, officiating. SPENCER SR. -- George Roland Spencer Sr., 71, passed away December 31, 2003 peacefully at his home. George was born in Waco, TX to George B. and Estelle M. Spencer on April 20, 1932. George proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Bricklayers Local #2 in Albuquerque. George is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Spencer; three sons, George R. Spencer Jr., and wife, Penny of Rio Rancho, NM, Andrew A. Spencer and wife, Helen of Colorado Springs, Co. and Thomas E. Spencer and wife, Colleen, of Vancouver, WA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Tracy Ann Spencer, Katrina Lynn Spencer, Shane Spencer and Troy Spencer; and one cousin, Jim Ed Spencer in Waco, TX. TENORIO -- Richard Tenorio, 51, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, December 30, 2003.
