LISLE -- Karen Alene Lisle, 52, June 9, 1951 to December 30, 2003 is at rest following a sudden decline in health. She is survived by her loving husband Jack, sons John & Neal Daugherty, daughter Laurie Schneider, daughter-in-law Rachel Daugherty, son-in-law Sigfried Schneider, three grandchildren Amanda, Nathan, Christian Schneider, as well as numerous family members and friends. Service to be held Saturday Jan. 3, 2004 11 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna Rd. MARTINEZ -- Napoleon " Nap" Martinez, age 78, passed away December 31, 2003 at an Albuquerque hospital following an illness. Nap was born October 2, 1925 in Pintada, NM to the home of Alcario and Faustina Garcia Martinez. He was reared and attended schools in Pintada. Nap served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Utilia Apodaca in 1945 in Santa Rosa. Nap was a self employed Meat Processor for many years, he was a sheep herder and a rancher. Nap retired from Guadalupe County Government were he served as County Clerk, County Assessor and Deputy County Assessor. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister for 35 years, he was a member of St. Anne's Sodality and he and his wife Utilia were involved in the CYO. He was also a member of the American Legion, Knights of Colmbus Council 5146 where he held different offices including Grand Knight. Nap prayed the rosary for the deceased members of the community for over 30 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be truly missed. Nap is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Sabinta Gonzalez, Rose Nelson and Frances Campos and his brother Faustin Martinez. Survivors include his wife Utilia Martinez of the family home in Santa Rosa, his Son Patrick Martinez and wife Gloria of Santa Rosa, his daughter Teresa Viramontes and husband Carl of Albuquerque, his grandchildren Manuel Martinez, Andre Martinez, Jessyca Flores and husband Frank and Juliette Lucero. Also surviving are his brothers Jose L. Martinez and Rudy Martinez both of Pintada, Joe A. Martinez and wife Stella of Santa Rosa and his sister Amelia Wallace of Albuquerque along with many loving brothers and sisters in law, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Friday evening, January 2, 2004 from St. Rose Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3 also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Manuel Martinez, Andre Martinez, Frank Flores, Larry Apodaca, John Apodaca, Glenn Maldonado, Ronald Maldonado and Arthur Campos. MOORE -- Russell Moore, 72, an Albuquerque lawyer for over 45 years, died December 19, 2003 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. NELSON -- Bessie Lee Nelson, 97, a long time resident of Albuquerque, Mountainair and Willard, New Mexico, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003. ROPER -- Margaret Hay Roper, 93 often said she imported her parents, three brothers and one sister from Scotland so she could be born in America, in the territory of New Mexico. She referred to death as "going your merry way". She did so on Wednesday, December 31, 2003. Margaret was born October 6, 1910 to Scottish immigrants Thomas and Agnes Brown Hay in Koehler, Territory of New Mexico. Margaret was preceded in death by husband, Lyle D. Roper in 1975, and granddaughter Kenna Llane Strupe in 1986. She was the last of her immediate family that included her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include daughter, Margaret Alaine Roper of Albuquerque; son, James T. Roper and wife, Flo, of Raton, NM; granddaughters, Karen Janway and Mary Lynn Roper, both of Albuquerque; grandsons Steve Roper of Columbus, Ohio and Mark Roper of Raton; great-grandsons Brian Sherman, Daniel Roper, Jacob Roper, Tim McKee, numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 8 step grandchildren, 17 step great-grandchildren and 7 step great-great-grandchildren. Margaret Roper, while growing up, lived in various coal-mining camps and spent her early adulthood in Raton working and raising her family. In 1958, Margaret and Lyle moved to Albuquerque. She worked as a sales clerk in many areas of the city. Margaret was the first clerk hired to work for Toys by Roy, where she did what she loved most, spending much of her time with children. She was always there to support her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never knew a stranger and had the great gift of gab. Margaret touched many lives and will be remembered for her humor, story telling, care giving and generosity. One of the greatest highlights in her life was her trip to Scotland for her 84th Birthday. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Raton, NM. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. RUNYAN -- Robert "Bob" F. Runyan, 67, a 11-year resident of the Albuquerque area, died Sunday, December 28, 2003. He is survived by his sons, Scott W. Runyan of Albuquerque and Richard F. Runyan of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Kathryn L. Runyan of Lilesville, NC; ex-wife, Martha Joe Hall of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Robert D. Runyan and Trevor Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hallie Runyan. Bob was greatly loved and will be great missed. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Monday, January 5, 2004, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor Tom Lohr officiating. SAUCEDO SR. -- Philip T. Saucedo, Sr., 64, a resident of Albuquerque since 1998, died suddenly at the Heart Hospital of NM, Sunday, December 28, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Saucedo of Albuquerque; daughter, Martha Bennetts of Albuquerque; son, Phil Saucedo, Jr and wife, Renee of Albuquerque; daughters, Lisa Mauricio and husband, Roy of South Bend, IN and Stephanie Luchetti and husband, Mike of Katy, TX; eight grandchildren, Thomas Bennetts, Rebekah Burton, Maxx and Valerie Saucedo, Isabel, Dante, and Trae Mauricio, and Marissa Luchetti; brothers, Gabe Saucedo, Jr of Gallup, NM, Jimmy Saucedo of Kirtland, NM, and Johnny Saucedo of Gallup, NM and Lorraine Saucedo of Henderson, NV; brother-in-law, Vern Mellinger of Gallup, NM; mother-in-law, Ann Meese of Gallup, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabe and Clara Saucedo; brother, Charlie Saucedo; and sister, Janet Marcelli. Mr. Saucedo was born and raised in Gallup, NM. "Bear" graduated from Gallup High School in 1958. Mr. Saucedo was a member of the Elks and he coached summer league baseball in Gallup for many years. He was also a member of Annunciation Parish and NM Army National Guard. Phil loved his family, friends, and fishing buddies, and most of all, his wife, Mary Lou. Rosary will be recited Friday, January 2, 2004, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with The Marianites reciting. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 3, 2004, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Claremont and Vermont St. NE. Cremation will follow and private interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be the many people whose lives were touched by Phil. SHEAFFER -- Franklin M. Sheaffer, Age 73, of Albuquerque, passed away on November 27, 2003. Franklin was retired from the U.S. Air Force, and spent time in both Korea and Thailand. He is survived by a brother, Clifford Ward, and sister, Sharon Ward, of E. Petersburg, PA as well as three sons, Jeffery Ludwig of Santa Fe, Frank Sheaffer of Albuquerque, and David Sheaffer of Murfreesboro, TN. A service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery is scheduled for January 5, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. May he rest in peace.

SLAVIN -- Anna Marie Slavin, 79, loving wife and mother, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, December 21, 2003. She was a resident of Bermuda Dunes, CA for 5 1/ 2 years formerly of Albuquerque for 37 years. Anna's Survivors include her husband of 52 years, James L. Slavin; three daughters, Kitty Norris and husband, Terry of Bosque Farms, NM, Patcy Ashby and husband, Jimmy of Rio Rancho, NM, Peggy Chank and husband, Larry of Bermuda Dunes, CA; one brother, James W. Helfrich and wife, Barbara of Mentz, TX; four grandchildren, Geroge Bleicher and wife, Jamie, Cody Ashby, Kyle Chank,and Kaley Chank.
