ANGELUS -- Kean Constantine Angelus, 82 and a 29-year resident of the Albuquerque area, died Jan. 1, 2004. The son of William Nicholas Angelus and Flossie Gladys Kean, he was born September 3, 1921 in Alma, Mich. Kean was fascinated by antiques, and after "retiring" opened his own antique shop called Pennysworth. Due to his declining health, he closed the shop Dec. 31, 2003. Before moving to Albuquerque, Kean owned a German cuisine restaurant in Alexandria, Va., called The Heidelburg and prior to that he owned Sweden Point Marina near Indianhead, MD. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Burt Anastus, Grant Nicholis and Theos Allen. He is survived by his wife, Eve; two children, Frank Daniel Angelus and wife Anjanet of Oakdale, Conn., Rae Dawn "Donna" Angelus-Hoyt of Albuquerque, and former daughter-in-law Denise Angelus of Jewett City, Conn; his sister, Xanta Marie Bronstetter of Ukiah, Calif., and his brother William Ellis Angelus of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Lee, Casey, Jillian, Amanda, Michael and Ryan; and his beloved Sheltie, Taffy. Visitation will be today, Jan. 4, 2004, 4-8 p.m., at Vista Verde Mortuary, 4310 Sara Rd. in Rio Rancho. Funeral service will be Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. in Vista Verde Mortuary Chapel. ARCHULETA -- Annie Archuleta, 87, beloved mother and grandmother passed away on Friday January 2, 2004. She is survived by daughters, Theresa Clark and husband, Dave, Maxine Jeffries, Fella Ortega and husband, Max, Marianne Vallejos and husband, Andy, Ida Lowe and husband, Dave, sons; James Archuleta and wife, Crystal, Ben Archuleta and wife, Virgina, Anthony Archuleta, Arthur Archuleta and wife, Renee, Ruben Archuleta and wife, Jackie, Richard Archuleta and wife, Brenda; 58 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline Salcido; brother, Frank Garcia; and many other family and friends who loved and will miss her. ATKINS -- Robert W. Atkins, age 65, an eight year resident of New Mexico died Monday, December 22, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Josephine of Sandia Park; his son, Robert H. Atkins of New York City; and his brother, Norman Atkins of Albuquerque. He was born August 3, 1938 in Ilion NY and spent his childhood in Los Alamos, NM. He lived most of his life in Columbia, Md. where he was a manager in the Social Security Administration in Baltimore. Cremation has already taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Unitarian Church,2701 Carlisle Blvd. NE, Albuquerque at 4:00 p.m on Friday, January 9, 2003. BENTZ -- Arnold E. Bentz, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Bentz; son, Melvin P. Bentz and wife, Rhonda; daughter-in-law, Cathy Bentz; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Gabriel, Marisa, and Matthew; brother, Otto Bentz; and sister, Esther Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his son, Arnold F. Bentz in 2002. Mr. Bentz retired from Sandia Labs after 37 years of service. Memorial service will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel with Pastor Philip Wangberg, officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. BRIDGES -- Morene Hill Bridges, beloved mother and grandmother, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, born December 3, 1914, passed away January 1, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Reagan and husband, Jim; grandchildren, James (Bubba) Collier Jr. and wife, Shelly, Katrina Volman and husband, Steve, Melanie Sandoval and husband, Ron; 11 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. CHURCH -- Mable A. Church, 96, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003. She is survived by her son, Gordon M. Church of Albuquerque; brother, Charles Burson and wife, Louise of Summerton, SC; nieces, Judi Cadwallader and husband, Charles of Northglenn, CO, Margaret Powers Morales and husband, Jacinto of McCalla, AL, and Phyllis Roberts and partner, Jo Bumstead of Lakewood, CO; nephew, Robert H. Burson and wife, Barbara of New Lennox, IL; and other family members. Mrs. Church was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene M. Church. Mable enjoyed life as a homemaker, working occasionally in the public or retail sectors; she was a master at sewing, crochette and cooking, but she took her greatest pride in giving over forty years of service to the educational mission and organizational needs of parliamentary procedure in Albuquerque and in the region of the National Association of Parliamentarians in which she was a Professional Registered Parliamentarian. She had a career of giving courses and workshops, providing consultation to non-profit organizations and serving in all offices of the Albuquerque Parliamentarian Unit, the state association and regional organization utilizing Robert's Rules of Order to provide for the reasonable, logical and fair transaction of business at the organizational level. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church and a variety of civic organizations throughout her life. Memorial services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW, with Dr. Terry Anderson and Chaplain Fabian Gagnon officiating. Private interment has taken place. CULKIN -- Jeanne Judith Culkin, passed away on December 28, 2003 at her home in Rio Rancho, NM. Jeanne was born on September 4, 1928 to Peter W. and Magdaline Gray Glynn in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She was a very devoted mother of six children, enjoyed crafting projects, cross-stitch, needlepoint, and loved working on crossword puzzles. Prior to retirement she worked as a nurse practitioner for Planned Parenthood. Jeanne is survived by her children, Don, Mike, Joe, Tom, Jerry and Kate; sister, Ann Benz; seven grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. DEBERRY -- Harmon DeBerry, 86, was born in Slocum, TX and was a resident of Albuquerque since 1954, died Thursday, January 1, 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Sally DeBerry-Hinds; son, Michael Lawrence and wife, John Ann; niece, Sue Lawrie; five grandchildren, Daniel Hinds, Kimberely Lawrence, Tawna DeLa Vega, Kevin Lawrence and Billy Lawrence. Harmon was preceded in death by his son, Daniel DeBerry and wife Nina DeBerry; step-son, Patrick Lawrence; his three sisters, Hazel, Lucille and Gladys. Harmon was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church for 40 years. He had a wonderful voice and was a Vaudeville singer from 1935 until he joined the service in November 1941. Harmon flew 30 missions over Germany in WWII in B-24's and was a member of the 8th Air Force (8 balls) for ten years. He worked for the Franklin Life Insurance Company from 1953 to 1989. He was an avid south paw golfer and won numerous trophies. He brought a lot of joy to a lot of people especially in his last days at the VA hospital where he sang on Christmas Day. Memorial service will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend Clyde Stanfield officiating. Private Interment of cremated remains will take place at Sandia Memory Gardens. DUFFIELD -- Gilbert Duffield, 84, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2003. Gilbert was born March 2, 1919. He came to New Mexico from Shawnee, Oklahoma. He had been a longtime employee of the Albuquerque Publishing Company as a Machinist. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Nadine Duffield, son, Eddie Duffield, and one brother, Bill Duffield.
