ARAGON -- Nestor Aragon, age 85, beloved father, grandfather, and brother was called home by our Heavenly Father, Wednesday, August 18, 2004. Nestor was born in Cuba, NM to the late Francisco and Julianita Aragon on November 22, 1918. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eduviginia Aragon. Nestor is survived by his loving children, Katie Pacheco and husband, Tony, Gladys Romero and husband, Julio, Jo Ann Martinez and husband, Max, Alex Aragon and wife, Doris, and Marylou Madrid; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Nestor will be greatly missed by his loving family. Visitations will be Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Final viewing will be Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. AUGUST -- Marie J. (Kump) August, 92, passed away on August 14, 2004. She was born in Baltimore, MD on April 19, 1912, and spent most of her life on the east coast of Maryland and Virginia. Marie moved to Albuquerque to live with her daughter, Helen, in 1991. She was the oldest of seven children. She was married to Mathew (Jake) Kump from November 1933 until April 1965, at which time Jake succumbed to cancer. She is survived by her sister, Helen Franz of Baltimore, MD; one son, John R. Kump and wife, Rachel of Big Fork, MT; two daughters, Helen Alessandrelli and husband, Joe, of Albuquerque and Donna M. Puckett and husband, Ronnie, of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren, James Kump and wife, Sherry, Alice Voigt and husband, Zane, Tami McMahon, Tina Powell and husband, Matt, Lisa Dirnberger and husband, Richard, Lara Ciasulli and husband, Carl, and Ian Puckett; and ten great-grandchildren. She was married to Joseph L. August from 1969 until his death in September, 1979. With Joe she became very active in the Lady Lions and received the Senior Citizen "On the Go" award for her efforts of volunteering in Tabb, VA. She enjoyed her second family of two daughters, Jean Thomas and husband, Billy of Poquoson, VA and Frances Goetz and husband, Bob of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Teresa Bryant and husband, Clyde and Carrie Coram; and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two grandsons, Joseph and Cecil Thomas. The family wishes to thank the staff at Laurel View Healthcare for their eight years of kindness and care toward Marie. The Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m., followed by Mass at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2004 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. N.W. Cremation has taken place. BARKER -- Barbara Barker, 73, died in Albuquerque on Sunday, August 15, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer-related illnesses. She is survived by sons, John and James; daughter, Leslie; brother, Art; and sisters, Elinor, Helen, and Marjorie . Born Barbara Irene Nepstad in Mitchell, SD on November 2, 1930, she went on to live in Evanston, IL from 1938-1960 and graduated from ETHS. She was married to Jack Barker from 1950-1977 and with him lived in many countries around the world. She raised her family under many changing circumstances and always met the challenges of an unusual, adventurous life with resourceful determination. She returned to Evanston and worked in the travel industry until moving to Albuquerque 10 years ago. Barbara had many artistic and intellectual talents and loved to travel the world, to play tennis and bridge, to explore cultures and cuisines. She had many friends wherever she lived. We will all miss her. Thanks to all the wonderful caregivers in the Presbyterian Hospice program. By her request cremation has taken place and no memorial service will be held. We her children join family and friends in holding her memory dearly in our hearts and in celebrating her life, too.

BENNETT -- Lawrence C. Bennett (known to his friends and family as Larry B.) passed away on Monday, August 16, 2004. He was born on Saturday, February 24, 1934, in Beloit, KS, and is survived by his loving wife, Linda Dominguez; brother, Richmond; sons, John, Aaron, and Jacob; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Larry spent his teen years in Beloit, KS, joined the US Air Force and became a captain as a SAC pilot in his twenties. He then attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL and graduated at the top of his class. In 1961, he moved to Albuquerque where he went to work for Sandia National Laboratory for thirty years as an electronic circuit designer. He retired from Sandia in 1990. Larry was a fifth degree black belt and a member of the board of directors of the Kojosho system of karate. He was much beloved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a program of food for pets of needy seniors, "Senior Pet Food Project," Dept. Senior Affairs, c/o Animal Humane Association, 615 Virginia SE, 87108. BLACK -- James Doran Black, born January 5, 1980, graduated from Cibola High School in Albuquerque in 1998 and enthusiastically began working as an apprentice electrician in 2000. He then, with great aspiration, completed his four year apprenticeship program and became a journeyman electrician in 2004. James had a brave and optimistic outlook on life. He also had great deal of consideration and respect for every living being around him. With his humor and charm this spirited young man made his way into everyone's heart. On August 15, 2004 James suffered a massive heart attack and died. He is survived by: his wife, Angela Black; her two children, Calvin and Andrew; his mother, Veda Goslar; his identical twin brother, Patrick Black; his older brother, Ronald Zaitz; his sister in-law, Jennifer Zaitz; his sister, Kiley Black; as well as his father, Glen Black. BOYER -- Michael Edward Boyer ascended into our Heavenly Father's arms on August 11, 2004 at the age of 37. Michael was born on December 28, 1966 and was raised in Alameda and is survived by his mother, Nora Boyer; his sons, Ezekiel and Xavier; his brothers, Manuel, Matthew, Travis and Tyler; and many more beloved family, bikers and friends. Those who knew Michael knew he loved God and loved to tell people about Jesus. He was an admirable cowboy when he was young, he became brilliant at a very young age, he had a clever and witty sense of humor, he would help anyone at any moment, he was generous with his time and money, he worked day and night and accomplished many trades, he could creatively fix whatever was broken, he was resourceful and inventive, he was a tattoo artist and biker at heart and was extraordinarily beautiful to look at. Surely Michael will leave an impressively rare memory in each of our hearts. Services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Tabernacle of Praise, 6013 Paradise Boulevard NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114 (898-4508). CAUGHRAN -- James Virgil Caughran, aged, 84, passed away August 17, 2004. He was born October 25, 1919 to Harry Lonzo and Wannie Belle Caughran in Grady, New Mexico. He married his first grade sweetheart Elsie Faith Bliss, June 29, 1941. They moved to Dove Creek, CO in the mid 1940s where he farmed and ran an LP Gas business. He and his family moved to Albuquerque in the mid 1950s and lived here for over 45 years. He was a successful real estate businessman and was the prime developer of Elephant Butte Estates. He loved to spend time with his family at his home on Mount Taylor. Virgil was an avid nature lover, conservationist and enjoyed raising livestock. Virgil was preceded in death by his wife; his son; his parents; his brother; and his sister. He is survived by his niece, Barbara Woodward and her husband, Bob of Albuquerque; and his nephew, Dr. Leroy Coffman and his wife, Carol of Winter Haven, FL; and many, many close friends. Virgil was a loving, caring, husband, father, and mentor to many in his family and in the community and will be missed by everyone he touched. CHAMBERS -- Marion "Chips" Chambers, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, was called home by our Heavenly Father, Wednesday, August 18, 2004. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Beatryce; daughter, Barbara Chambers; son, John M. Chambers and wife, Harriett; grand-daughters, Megan and Lauren Chambers; sisters, Kayla Shellenberger and Virginia Dunn; two aunts, Ruth Israel and Edith Treece; two special cousins, Erma Miller and Eugene Campbell and a large extended family. Marion served honorably in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He is a member of Sandia Baptist Church and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He will be remembered as a true friend, always a gentleman, and a master craftsman. He created beautiful woodwork for his church and his many friends. CONNOLLY -- Anne Ashburn Connolly, 80, a resident of Albuquerque for 5 years, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2004. She was born on April 23, 1924 in Dennison, TX to Martin and Josephine Ashburn. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles H. Connolly; and her brother, Martin Ashburn. She is survived by her loving children, David Connolly and wife, Marjorie of Houston, TX, Carol Connolly and husband, Bruce Cass of Albuquerque, Nial Connolly of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Katharine Connolly and Thomas Connolly of Houston, Daniel Connolly and Crenna Connolly of Colorado, and Alisa Cass of Albuquerque. Anne was a painter, sculptor, and weaver who shared her talents with many friends and family. She graduated from SMU and taught art there before starting her family. In later years she exhibited at various galleries, and her weavings hang in many hospitals and public buildings. She owned Needles and Whims in Plano, TX for several years. After her move to New Mexico, her weavings expressed the beauty she found in her new state. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader; her love of books was passed on to all her children. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 23, 2004 at New Life Presbyterian Church, 5540 Eubank Blvd., NE at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. Anne will be deeply missed.

CRAIG -- Margaret "Pat" Craig, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, died Wednesday, August 17, 2004. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Craig of Midland, TX; grandson, Richard P. Craig of Albuquerque; great-grandson, Richard F. Craig; great-granddaughter, Joslyn Devon Craig; sister, Sue Davis and David of Phillipsburg, NJ; nieces, Kim Gerbino of Easton, PA and Debra Ladd of Emmaus, PA; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Joseph O. Craig in 1976 and her son, Geoffrey Craig in 1996. Pat was born in South Pittsburg, TN. CSEPREGI -- Frank Csepregi, 61, passed away on August 14, 2004 at the Cleveland Clinic due to complications following open-heart surgery. Frank was born in Budapest, Hungary and immigrated to the US in 1956 at the age of 14 following the Hungarian Revolution. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Washington and later went on to become a Mine Health and Safety Specialist for the U.S. Government. Frank proudly served our country as a Green Beret in the Special Forces of the Army. Since his retirement in 1986, he actively served our community as a member of the St. Pius Foundation Board of Trustees, the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque and the Aquinas Newman Center Catholic Parish. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Alice Marosi-Csepregi; children, Cathy Csepregi of Chicago, Nicole Adams and her husband, Jerry of Indianapolis; mother, Magdalena Hollo; sister, Eva Hollo; and mother-in-law, Anna Marosi. A wake will be held Friday, August 20, 2004 at 7:00 p.m., and the funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2004. DENNY -- F. Charles Denny, 56, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004. EMIG -- Frank R. Emig II, 62, a resident of Albuquerque since 1954, died Monday, August 16, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen Emig of Albuquerque; daughter, Heather Brano and husband, Keith of Albuquerque; son, Kenneth Emig and wife, Kim of Albuquerque; daughter, Katherine Piper and husband, Bryan of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jacob, Jack, Caleb, Austin, Andrew, Christian, Sarah, and Kaitlyn; mother, Elsie Emig; and sisters, Dee Slenes and Elizabeth Emig. GOODMAN -- Alan F. Goodman, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2004. Alan was born August 30, 1925 the son of Fredrick and Mildred Danzis Goodman in Bronx, NY. Alan grew up in the Bronx, and graduated from the High School of Science and went on to graduate with a Degree in Engineering from New York University. He was proud to have served in WWII in the US Army and was a recipient of two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and Bronze Star. Alan moved to New Mexico with his wife, Mary in 1957. Prior to retirement, he spent over 35 years working as an engineer for several highway departments including the City of Albuquerque. He was extremely involved in many civic and community organizations including the implementation of Boy Scout Troop #174, member of the Paradise Hills Volunteer Fire Dept., the Lion's Club, Albuquerque Scale Modelers, Paradise Hills Civic association, and the All Saints Lutheran Church. He taught an aviation history class at the University of Albuquerque. Alan loved building scale models, military history, and was a collector of antique weapons. Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 1996. He is survived by two children, Katherine Ferdig and husband, Eric, and Peter Goodman and wife, Crystal, all of Albuquerque; one sister, Alice Goodman of California; and four grandchildren, John, Carl, and Sarah Glaspie, and Mathew Ferdig; and his beloved dogs, Sasha and Pia. A Memorial Service for Alan will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. at the All Saints Lutheran Church, 4800 All Saints Rd. NW, (Coors Rd. & Paseo Del Norte NW), in Albuquerque, with Rev. Phillip Wangberg officiating. HUTCHISON -- Cathleen Smith Hutchison, 55, a resident of Albuquerque since 1986, died Tuesday, August 17, 2004 after a long battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her son, Erik Fichter of Virginia; parents, Don and Lola Hutchison of Detroit, MI; sister, Janet Ford and husband, Christopher of Centennial, CO; brother, Kevin Hutchison of Sault St. Marie, MI; and much loved niece, nephew, and great-niece and -nephew. Cathleen was born in Detroit, MI and received her BA from the University of Michigan and a Masters from Wayne State University in Detroit. She worked several years at Sandia National Labs and Honeywell. Cathleen was very involved in quilting. She was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and a choir member. MAYER -- Joan Patricia Mayer, 76, a resident of Albuquerque for 34 years, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2004. Mrs. Mayer was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She will be deeply missed by her family. Mrs. Mayer was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Norman E. Mayer in 1997. MOORE -- Jimmy Dee Moore, born April 4, 1954 in Roswell, NM died Friday, August 13, 2004. He was a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 2000. He is survived by his sons, James Moore and Joshua Moore both of Phelan, CA; mother Othel Moore of Albuquerque, NM; sister Pennie Cornell of Santa Fe, NM; brothers, Johnny Moore of Albuquerque, NM and Timothy Moore of Adelanto, CA; and special friends Arleen Todd and Emerald Lueras. SMITH -- Kathryn "Kitty" Smith, our beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 16, 2004. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sophia and Roy Landwehr; and a brother, Roy Jr. She is survived by her beloved husband of 22 years, Michael Smith; in addition to her three sons, Tony, Jim and Bob; her daughter-in-law, Carol; grandchildren, Alissa Kreuch, Tony Kreuch, Jr., Tal Kreuch, Patrick Kreuch, and Alex Kreuch; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Joanne Landwehr; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Dee Riley; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Jim Harrigan; sister, Judy Moxey; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Michael Quinn; sister, Sr. Judith Ann; and many nephews and nieces. Kitty will always be remembered as a caring and compassionate person who bore her chronic illnesses with dignity and strength. She had a love of life and an unquenchable thirst for learning. After raising her three sons, Kitty returned to college and obtained a Bachelor's Degree, with Honors, in Communicative Disorders from the University of New Mexico in 1979. She was an avid reader who, later in life, made the decision to re-read as many of the classic literary works as she could, and in so doing gained a new appreciation for these works. She was a wonderful homemaker, and she also was employed for several years as a bookkeeper in the accountancy and healthcare fields, and as a secretary. Kitty had many and varied talents. She raised African Violets for many years and was a member and judge of the African Violet Club, winning awards for her flowers that are too numerous to count. She frequently won awards at the New Mexico State Fair for her afghans and her jam. She also was on the Board of Directors and volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for several years. The family would like to thank Kitty's many friends for their kindness, prayers and support. In celebration of her life a Rosary was recited Thursday, August 19, 2004, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE and a Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 20, 2004, 10:30 a.m. at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd. TAYLOR -- Garland D. Taylor, 74, born in Olney, TX, on Saturday, October 26, 1929, died on Monday, August 16, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Nell Taylor; three daughters, Michelle Morrow, Kim Graham, and Tammy Rogers; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Nan Craig of Hobbs, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. Garland served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a past President of the New Mexico Bankers Association during his career in banking. He was active in many civic organizations including Lions Club, Rotary, and was a member of the Gideon Organization. While in Grants, NM Garland was an avid supporter of 4H and FFA Programs through the purchase of livestock through fair sales. Mr. Taylor was a deacon, choir member, and beloved Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church in Albuquerque. Garland was a genuine believer, and a witness for Our Lord. He will be missed and never forgotten by his family and friends. Services will be held on Friday, August 20, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Central and Broadway.
