BARKER -- Barbara Barker, 73, died in Albuquerque on Sunday, August 15, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer-related illnesses. She is survived by sons, John and James; daughter, Leslie; brother, Art; and sisters, Elinor, Helen, and Marjorie . Born Barbara Irene Nepstad in Mitchell, SD on November 2, 1930, she went on to live in Evanston, IL from 1938-1960 and graduated from ETHS. She was married to Jack Barker from 1950-1977 and with him lived in many countries around the world. She raised her family under many changing circumstances and always met the challenges of an unusual, adventurous life with resourceful determination. She returned to Evanston and worked in the travel industry until moving to Albuquerque 10 years ago. Barbara had many artistic and intellectual talents and loved to travel the world, to play tennis and bridge, to explore cultures and cuisines. She had many friends wherever she lived. We will all miss her. Thanks to all the wonderful caregivers in the Presbyterian Hospice program. By her request cremation has taken place and no memorial service will be held. We her children join family and friends in holding her memory dearly in our hearts and in celebrating her life, too.
