Allen -- Joycelyn Richins Allen, 49, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 15, 2003, after a lengthy courageous fight with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Ben Allen; sons, Justin Allen and wife Alexis, Jeffrey Allen and wife Emily, all of Pleasant Grove, UT, Charles Allen & Steven Allen both of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Rachel DeBuck and husband Charles also of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Eden Allen and Benjamin Allen of Pleasant Grove, UT; parents, DeVaun and Lillian Richins of Animas, NM; brother, Lyle Richins and wife LaStar of St. George, UT; and sisters, Dorothy Crane and husband Melvin of Bennington, ID & Janelle Palmer and husband Steven of Mesa, AZ. She was a member of the Taylor Ranch Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Baca -- Lorenzo F. Baca, age 40 went with or Lord, on August 14, 2003, in Albuquerque, where he had been a resident all of his life. He has gone to heaven to be with his loving parents who hove preceded him in death, David and Lieselotte (Lilly) Baca, he is also survived by his wife, Lucille E. Baca and daughter, Lisa F. Baca. Also survived by his brother Alfred D. Baca, a sister, Rose Marie Baca and Kelly Vialpando, 4 nieces, Shaneice Placencia, Lilly Baca, Kimberly, Sara Vialpando; 2 nephews, David Baca and Joseph Vialpando. Also survived by mother-in-law, Carmen Padilla and father-in-law, Manuel Padilla and many loving uncles, aunts and cousins. He was a volunteer firefighter for 6 years form 1986 to 1992 in the South Valley. He worked for ACT. Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. also in the chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Adrian Garcia, Richard Richard, Lawrence Michelback, Greg Jiron, Reymond Baca and Arthur Baca. Benavidez -- Mr. Edward J. Benavidez died Sunday, August 10, 2003 in Albuquerque at the age of 78. Mr. Benavidez was a veteran ofWorld War II and Korea. He was a member of American Legion Post 13. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca G. Benavidez of Albuquerque; sons, Mike Gonzales of Long Beach, CA and Donald Duran Jr. of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Carrie and Theresa; and grandchildren, Donald Duran III, Misty Ray Duran, Ezekiel Duran and Elijah Duran. A Rosary for Mr. Benavidez will be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Blatchford -- Alberta A. Blatchford, 82, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, August 13, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Leslie Les Blatchford; sons, Larry Blatchford and Kenneth Blatchford and wife, Dolores, all of Albuquerque; daughter, Eileen Clarke of Lake Forest, CA; step-son, Ron Collier and wife, Lee of Puwallup, WA; six grandchildren, Michael Blatchford and wife, Staci of Albuquerque, Jay Blatchford of Hawthorne, CA, Nirvana Blatchford-Rodriguez and husband, Joe, Christy Blatchford, Levi Blatchford and Roger Blatchford, all of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Andrew Blatchford of Rifle, CO, Jacob Blatchford, Esprit Blatchford-Rodriquez, AmeAmor Blatchford-Rodriquez, Esperanza Blatchford-Sena and Jasmine Blatchford, all of Albuquerque; and brothers, Alcario Armenta, Gregorio Armenta and wife, Pauline and Joe Armenta and wife, Rose, all of Albuquerque. Alberta was a beautiful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who gave of her time, industry and prayers. She was known for her kindness and generosity to all who knew her. Brown -- Lyman Milton Brown, 83, passed away Friday, August 15, 2003 after a two year battle with cancer."Milt" was born on December 22, 1919 in Lynn County, Kansas to Clarence and Gladys Brown. He was on of four children. Milt led an active life. He served in both WWII and Korea as a Navy pilot, he farmed in Kansas and sold building products in New Mexico. He finally retired at age 78 from Los Altos Gold Course in Albuquerque. An avid pilot and member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, he built and flew a Rose Parakeet Biplane. He flew planes until his early seventies. Milt was always known as the guy to go to if you wanted anything made or fixed. He will surely find many projects to work on in Heaven. Milt is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary; son, Michael and wife, Susan; brother, Maurice (Cy); sister, Lela Jean; step grandson, Chris Long and his wife and children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Callan -- Dr. Laurence B. Callan, Ph.D., J.D. passed away on July 24, 2003 due to pneumonia and coronary obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart failure. Born June 15, 1932 in Chicago the oldest of three children, to Laurence Joseph Callan and Cecilia McShane Callan, both deceased as well as his sister, Sheila Donahue. Enlisted in the United States Marine Corps 1949 to 1951 and the United States Navy"Sea Bees" 1951 - 1953. Was honorably discharged from both. Earned B.A. in Liberal Arts in 1956, Masters in Health and Physical Education and recreation in 1957, P.h.D Public Health Administration in 1966 at Arizona State College (now Arizona State University). Was one of the original campus police officers and later a Tempe, AZ police officer. He was an assistant coach at Phoenix College in football in 1964 and baseball, where they won the national Junior College Championships in football in 1964 and baseball in 1963 and 1965. He studied pre-med at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Callan earned his Jurist Doctorate in San Diego, CA in 1999 at the age of 66. He was an administrator and faculty member at the University of California at Berkely, 1996 to 1970; University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, 1970 to 1972; Associate Director of the Navajo Health Authority, Window Rock, Navajo Nation, AZ 1972 - 1975; Associate Director of Cancer Control and Rehab at the National Institute of Health, Washington, D.C. 1975 - 1976; Deputy Director Cancer Control Program at the University of New Mexico, 1976 - 1981; faculty member in Public Health Administrative Services at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu 1981 - 1982 and entered private business as a licensed insurance agent 1982 - 1994. Married Geraldean (Jerri) Glover, daughter of Billy and Eileen Glover, longtime Tempe residents in December 1956 and had five sons, Brian, retired Marine Corps CWO II, Tempe, AZ, who preceded him in death September 1, 2002; Sean, educator and doctoral candidate, Honolulu, Hi, Peter, marketing consultant, Miami Beach, FL, Timothy and C. Robert, general contractors, Taos, NM. Married Hilda Nobuko Nagamini in May 1983 and widowed in August 1990. He also had five grandchildren, Cheryl, Michael, Joseph, Erin and Seamus; and three great-grandchildren, Seandean and Bahazhoni and Zoe. Surviving brother, John P. Callan of Florida. Larry was actively involved in the Local Honolulu AA where he had many wonderful friendships and associations. He was a daily communicant at St. Peter and Paul in Honolulu. He was quite the Irish charmer, storyteller, drinker, with an outrageous sense of humor and an avid reader. Cremation and Burial will be at the National Cemetery of the Pacific where his beloved wife, Hilda, is awaiting him. There will be no formal services. Cortese -- Mike Cortese, 88 a resident of Albuquerque died Friday, August 15, 2003 at Lovelace Medical Center. He was born October 12, 1914 in Fort Sumner, NM. Mike graduated from Fort Sumner High School in 1936; he married Dorothy Erven in 1940. Mike lived in Colorado for a short time before making his home in Albuquerque in 1964. He was employed as a truck driver for Navajo Freight Lines and ABF Trucking Company until his retirement in 1980. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Nick and Mary Muto Cortese, 2 brothers Joe Cortese and Ralph Cortese, three sisters Rose, Delia, and Madeleine, and a grandson Jarrod Mike Barfield on Nov. 9, 2000. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Cortese of Albuquerque; three children, Sherry Barfield and husband J.K. of Texico, NM, Mike and wife Regina Cortese of Austin, TX, Delynn and husband Eddie Ratliff of Albuquerque, NM. Also surviving are six grandchildren, four sisters in law Lib Cortese, Zela Cortese both of Fort Sumner, Billie Erven of Canyon City, CO and Marie Rich of Florence, CO. Crespin -- Manuel C. Crespin, a lifelong resident of Cuba, New Mexico, passed from this earth into the peaceful arms of God on August 14, 2003. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ermenia (Minnie) Crespin; son, Teodoro (Ted) Crespin. Manuel is survived by his three sons, Marcellino and wife, Estella, Uvaldo (Walter) and wife, Loretta, Pablo (Paul) and wife, Rita; five daughters, Alicia (Alice) Aguilar and husband, Filimon, Viola Salas, Shonie Lindeman and husband, Steve, Maria (Ethel) Pettit, Dorothy Danska; 24 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren; sister, Dolores Casaus; sister in laws, Betty Crespin and Josephine Atencio and many nieces and nephews. DiGrazia -- Sharon E. DiGrazia, 57, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed from us on August 10, 2003 in Reno, Nevada after sustaining injuries due to a car accident. She was born in Colorado and was the daughter of Wallace and Dorothy Fluckey of Elephant Butte, New Mexico. Sharon is survived by her daughters, Jennifer DiGrazia of Northampton, Massachusetts, and Sara DiGrazia who is teaching in Izmir, Turkey. She is also survived by her parents; her brothers, Bruce and wife, Mary and Forrest and wife, Grace; nephews, Adam, Matthew and Nicholas. Those who knew her were aware that Sharon had a great love of all animals and was devoted to Nursing. Jaramillo -- George John Jaramillo Jr, 29, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 13, 2003. George is survived by his wife of 2 years Natalia. Johnston -- Richard E. Johnston, 75, died Friday, August 8, 2003 at home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Richard graduated from Doylestown High School, Doylestown, Ohio in 1946; attended Wooster College and Ashland College in Ohio. He was employed by Goodyear Aircraft, 1953; Lockheed Aerospace, 1962; EG &G 1965, and Defense Nuclear Agency, 1968. Richard was a member of American Legion, Doylestown, Ohio with whom he liked to march in the Memorial Day parade each year. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and treasured his grandchildren, family and neighbors. Richard was preceded in death by his parents John Julian Johnston and Gladys Allman Johnston, brother John Julian Johnston Jr., and sisters Joy (William) Holford and Lois (Charles) Yarman. He is survived by his wife Jean (Whitman), two daughters Joanne (Richard) Ferrary, Las Cruces, NM, Janice (Arthur) Lucero, Albuq. NM; four sons, John (Susan) Johnston, Richard M. Lloyd -- John H. Lloyd, 76, died Friday, August 15, 2003. He was reunited with his first wife, Betty Lou after she waited three years for him. He is survived by his wife, Zelda Wiggins; five daughters, Mary Ethel Plotner and husband, Will of Farmington, NM; Jeanne Reutner and husband, Charles of Avon, IL; Violet Pavelski of Rio Rancho, NM; Donna Martinez and husband, John of Rociada, NM; Terri Lloyd and husband, Mac Hann of Albuquerque, NM; two sons, John Richard and life partner, Andrew of Vallejos, CA; James Lloyd and wife, Bernadette of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Will and wife, Jada, Becky and husband, Frank, Alicia, Melissa, Diego, Brian, Adrian, Cathy, Victoria, Maria, Melecio, Aedon, and Elaena; six great-grandchildren; niece, Maggie Anaya; and nephew, Tommie Lloyd. John worked for the phone company, Mountain Bell for 35 years, retired from the New Mexico National Guard after 42 years of service. Mora -- Larry Mora went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2003. Larry was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a beloved husband, father, son and brother. He was loved dearly and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Rachael; three sons, Nicholas Mora and wife, Miranda, Joey Mora, and Eric Mora; his mother, Frances Hepler; his father, Matthew and wife, Geraldine Mora; sister, Donna Martinez; brothers, Freddy Martinez and Charles Mora and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mathew Joseph and Richard Frank Mora. Funeral Services for Mr. Mora will be held on Monday at Victory Love Church where the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Martinez, Joshua Martinez, Jaime Medina, Lawrence Ortiz, Andrew Martinez and Richard Martinez. A Prayer Service for Mr. Mora will be held on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary 400 Third St. SW 247-4124.

Myers -- Kenneth (Kenny) E. Myers, 31, a resident of Bosque Farms for the past 17 years, entered the arms of the Lord Wednesday, August 13, 2003. Kenny was a hunter, fisherman, bull rider, business owner and outstanding bowler. Kenny is survived by his children, Justin, 8, Shyann, 6; parents, Bill and Patti Terrell; three brothers, Barry, Christopher and his fiance, Angela, Brian and his wife, Jennifer. Our family would like to express sincere gratitude for the loving care he received from Dr. William Abbott; his staff, Toni and Chris; and the ICU nursing staff of Presbyterian Hospital. A Memorial gathering in celebration of his life will be held at the Bosque Farms Community Center off the North Loop in Bosque Farms from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2003. Neuhaus -- Harold August Neuhaus, 86, died on August 10, 2003 in Albuquerque. Born in Madison County, IL, on August 24, 1916, he was a son of the late Henry and Sophia (Kroeger) Neuhaus. Mr. Neuhaus and his first wife, the former Doralein Johanna Spittler of Staunton, IL, moved with their two children to Albuquerque in 1949. After the death of his wfie, he married the former Adrienne M. Muller in 1956. Mr. Neuhaus was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for 28 years, retiring from there in 1978. He was a member of UA Local #412 for 52 years. Upon his retirement he and his wife moved to Pinetop and Tucson, AZ, where they resided until they returned to Albuquerque in 1991. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Johanna K. Neuhaus of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister-in-law, Eldor (Bill) and Alma Neuhaus of Albuquerque; and a sister, Esther Behme of Alhambra, IL. Mr. Neuhaus was preceded in death by a sister, Lorna Nobbe of Worden, IL; and in July of this year, his son, Don Alan Neuhaus of Albuquerque. In Celebration and Remembrance, a gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2003, 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Park Plaza Condominiums, 1331 Park Ave. SW, Albuquerque. Nicholson -- Bessie Starks Nicholson of Santa Rosa died Friday, August 15, 2003 at her residence. Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2003, at 2:00 PM from the First Baptist Church in Santa Rosa with the Reverand Van Espy presiding. Bessie was born May 26, 1926 in Santa Rosa, NM. She was a life long resident of Santa Rosa and graduated from Santa Rosa High School. In 1945 she married Floyd Nicholson. After Floyd returned from military service they owned and operated the LP Gas Services Inc. until it was sold in 1976. Bessie continued to work for various gas companies until she retired. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star Sunshine Chapter #44 and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Lynn Elizabeth and her husband Floyd. She is survived by her daughter Beverly Sanchez of Midland, TX, her sons Curtis Nicholson and wife Gena of Midland, TX, and Stephen Nicholson and wife Kimberly of Tome, NM, 12 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Poole -- Peggy"Granny" Poole, 71, a resident of Veguita, NM and formerly of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Friday, August 15, 2003. She was a member of West Side Family Chapel of Los Lunas, NM and a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Peggy was well known for her sewing and quilting skills and loved to pass on her skills to her grandchildren. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 25 years. She was an Intersessor, which is a prayer warrior. Many people had her phone number and would call her whenever they needed someone praying for them. Peggy owned and operated, along with her husband, Nolen Poole, the South Valley Service and Groceries which turned into Granny's Groceries and Gadgets for fifteen years. She and Nolen also owned and operated a R.V. Camp Park in Moriarty, NM for several years. Peggy was known as Granny to everyone young and old alike. She loved the Lord with her whole heart and could not wait to see him face to face. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Bill Bilbrey and Nolen Poole; her parents, James and Edith Spain; sister, Pauline Williams; brothers, Odel Spain, James Spain and Virgil Spain. Peggy is survived by her children, Robert Bilbrey of Veguita; Donna and her husband, Larry Chambers of Belen, NM; Chris Poole and his wife, Susan of El Paso, TX; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and her sister, Pat Graham of Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. All services will be held in the Romero Funeral Home Chapel starting with viewing on Monday, August 18, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. with a funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. with her son-in-law officiating, Pastor Larry Chambers. A private family graveside service will take place at a later time. Romero -- Maureen Bernice"Bernie" Romero. Our beloved Bernie died peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2003, surrounded by family and friends. Bernie is survived by her daughter, Michelle Ortiz, parents Gene H. and Minerva Romero, and five siblings, Evelyn"Eve" Romero and husband Jon Mustonen, Gary Romero and wife JoAnn, Gene F. Romero, Claire Romero and husband David Bomse, and Larry Romero and wife Irma Chavez. She was also a loving aunt to four nieces, Misa, Andrea, Marisol, and Sofia, and four nephews, Alex, Christopher, Aaron and Gene. Bernie will also be sorely missed by her uncle and aunts, Boleslo and Dora Romero, Soveida Gonzales, and Helen Crowe, as well as numerous cousins. Bernie was born in Albuquerque on July 22, 1947. After graduating from Valley High School in 1965, she moved to Santa Fe where she worked for the state. Back in Albuquerque, Bernie pursued a career in the food industry as a caterer, restaurant manager, and cook. Gourmet cooking was top among her many passions and through much of her life Bernie created sumptuous feasts for friends and family. We miss our dear Bernie but her love of music, antiques, floral design, good literature, and vintage films will always live in our hearts. Funeral services are pending. Direct cremation has taken place in Albuquerque. The family expresses their gratitude to the medical staff of the Albuquerque Regional Medical Center and Vista Care who provided medical and hospice care for Bernie during the last few weeks of her life.

Romero -- Lionel R. Romero, 65, of Albuquerque, NM passed away due to illness on August 8, 2003. Lionel was born August 11, 1937, to Flavio and Delores Romero, in Albuquerque. Lionel attended Elementary, Jr. High and High School in Alb. He excelled in athletics at a very young age and was offered a major league baseball contract after high school, but deferred for a full athletic scholarship to the University of Arizona. At the University of Arizona, Lionel was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and lettered in football and baseball; however, his athletic career was cut short due to injuries. Lionel transferred to George Washington University in Washington, D.C and graduated with a BS in Business Administration in 1962. Lionel was a successfully Farmers Insurance Agency for 20 years, and the youngest recipient of the President Council's award. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Lionel will be remembered as a confidant, caring, fearless, humorous and above all, a very honest man. Survivors included his son Christopher Lionel, daughter-in-law, Jennifer, daughter, Elizabeth Barbara Grimsley, son-in-law, Wendell, grandson, Christopher Wendell Grimsley, brothers, Leonard and Paul of Arizona, former wife of 32 years, Barbara M.E. Romero, and many family and friends. A rosary and prayer service will be held on August 21, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at Aspen Funeral Alternatives Chapel at 1935 Juan Tabo NE. Sedillo -- Felicita"Fela" Sedillo, age 82, was born in Chilili, NM., October 26, 1920. She was a resident of Paloma Blanca and a former longtime resident of Martineztown. Fela passed away peacefully August 13, 2003. She is survived by her two daughters Martha Sedillo and Bertha Olguin and husband Anthony; grandchildren Amador, Gabriel, and Margo; great grandson Anthony Jr.; other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at St. Therese Parish, 4th and Mildred NW. A Wake Service will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2003. Shue -- Faye, 12/22/1914 - 08/16/2003. Faye Shue, 88, a long time resident of Belen, NM, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday morning, August 16, 2003. She was born in Vernon, TX on December 22, 1914 to Tom and Josie McCray. Faye met the love of her life, Clyde M. Shue and married him in Clausy, NM on December 26, 1932. She was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Belen, Woman's Railroad Auxiliary, and was an avid bowler with many women's leagues at Sugar Bowl Lanes. Faye was a dedicated volunteer for over 25 years as a Pink Lady at the old Belen Hospital, a volunteer for the New Mexico Blood Drive, and was employed by Becker Dalies as a clerk for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde in 1989; her two daughters, Bobbie McKee in 2003, and Mackie L. Shue in 1953; her young grandson, Shawn Hidalgo in 1976, her parents; her brothers and sisters, Allie Hoffman; Lois Shoemaker; Scott McCray; Mackie Cooper; Darlene Jett; Alvis McCray; and Thelma Bryant. Faye is survived by her loving son, Clyde R. Shue and his wife, Pat of Belen; son-in-law, Stanley McKee of Winslow, AZ; five grandchildren, Pam Shue-Williams and her husband, Kevin of Los Lunas, NM, Walter Shue and his wife, Twila of Fort Worth, TX; Dwayne Shue; Kim McKee and her husband, David Sanchez; and Tammie Shue, all of Belen; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grand children; one sister, Margie Clark and her husband Harry"Jr." of Truth or Consequences, NM; two sister-in-laws, Edna McCray of Denver City, TX and Norma Pike of Slanton, TX. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and her loyal poodle"Baby". A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Belen at 1:30 pm with a funeral service at 2:00 pm officiated by Dr. Bruce Baker. Immediately following she will be laid to rest by her beloved husband at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandson, David Sanchez, and her great grandchildren, Jason, Brandon, and Kyle Hidalgo, Marquita Torres, and Keisha Jaramillo. Stevens -- (Vearle) Dean Stevens, 62, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died Thursday, August 14, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Nancy J Stevens of Albuquerque; son, Robert A. Stevens and wife, Lisa, of New Jersey; daughter, Deborah Gray and husband, Robert of Albuquerque; mother, Ruby Steven of Texas; four grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Gray and Travis and Brandon Stevens; and brothers, Robert H. Stevens, Jr., Kenneth Stevens, and J.D. Stevens. He was a member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
