Bessie Starks Nicholson of Santa Rosa died Friday, August 15, 2003 at her residence. Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2003, at 2:00 PM from the First Baptist Church in Santa Rosa with the Reverand Van Espy presiding. Bessie was born May 26, 1926 in Santa Rosa, NM. She was a life long resident of Santa Rosa and graduated from Santa Rosa High School. In 1945 she married Floyd Nicholson. After Floyd returned from military service they owned and operated the LP Gas Services Inc. until it was sold in 1976. Bessie continued to work for various gas companies until she retired. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star Sunshine Chapter #44 and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Lynn Elizabeth and her husband Floyd. She is survived by her daughter Beverly Sanchez of Midland, TX, her sons Curtis Nicholson and wife Gena of Midland, TX, and Stephen Nicholson and wife Kimberly of Tome, NM, 12 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home, 923 South 3rd St., Santa Rosa, NM (505)472-3369.
