Catanach -- Alfredo Catanach passed away on July 11, 2003, at the family residence after a prolonged illness. He was born on February 18, 1919, in Santa Fe to Leo David and Crucita Catanach who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Amelia; daughters, Evangeline Andrews and husband, Ray of Pueblo, Colorado, Stephanie McDonald and husband, Louis of Corrales, NM; grandchildren, Renee Robinson and husband, Tim, Stacey Andrews, Ian McDonald and Kimberly McDonald; brother, John B. Catanach and wife, Rebecca; sisterm Augustina McDuff and husband, Gerald; uncle, Eddie Catanach, Sr.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Ray Andrews, Sam Catanach, Ernest Martinez, Louis McDonald, Don McDuff and Ray Velarde. Honorary pallbearers will be Ian McDonald, Tim Robinson and Tim Sepp. Alfredo graduated from St. Michael's High School in 1938. Following graduation, he began working for Public Service Company of New Mexico where he delivered electric bills by bicycle until he enlisted in the Navy on October 28, 1942. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater of War as a first-class radio technician. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in October 1945, Alfredo returned to work for Public Service Company where he was employed for more than 42 years as a journeyman electrician. Alfredo was an active member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Santa Fe and was a lector and eucharistic minister. He was also involved in many religious activities and organizations including Knights of Columbus, Union Protectivia, Faith In Action, Cursillo Movement, Marriage Enrichment and IHM Seminary Auxiliary. Following his retirement, Alfredo spent much of his time traveling with Amelia in Europe, and to visit his friends and family. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 15, 2003, 6:00 p.m., where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Santa Fe. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Cristo Rey Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at 10:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cristo Rey Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa Street, 984-8600.

De Luche -- Denis De Luche, 57, a resident of Moriarty, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Barbara De Luche of Moriarty; daughter, Cristin Mann of Albuquerque; sons, Dan De Luche of Point, TX and Ryan De Luche of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; mother, Ruby De Luche of Moriarty; and sister, Donna Cooksey of Wickenburg, AZ. Mr. De Luche was born on May 1, 1946, in Durango, CO to Erwin and Ruby De Luche. After serving in the US Army, he graduated from Fort Lewis College, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Psychology in 1972. He was a Chief Investigator for the District Attorney's Office in Durango, CO and Carlsbad, NM. Mr. De Luche was appointed Director of Investigations for the Attorney General's Office in 1991 in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. He retired in December 1998. Mr. De Luche worked part time for the Torrance County Sheriff's Office. Greer -- Alta A. Greer, longtime Albuquerque resident, passed away July 10, 2003 Alta was born in Rainelle, West Virginia January 27, 1924 to Charles P. and Jessie (McCutcheon) Martin. She retired from AT&T as a telephone operator/supervisor. She is survived by Toby A. Greer, her husband of 26 years. Also surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Lynn Buzzard of Butte, Montana; stepson, Rob Greer of San Antonio, Texas; stepdaughter, Janice Boschee of Washington state; grandchildren, Harlen, Wendy and Joey Buzzard of Texas and Jeremy Buzzard of Butte, Montana; brother, Harry Martin and wife, Alice of Tucson, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to an open house to be held at the home of Toby Greer 821 Muriel, NE on Saturday, July 19, 2003 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Gross -- Julian Edmund"Chuck" Gross Electrical Engineer, Inventor Julian Edmund"Chuck" Gross passed away from natural causes in Northampton, Massachusetts on June 4, 2003. He was born on December 21, 1926 in Northampton to Julian Zigmund Gross and Martha A. (Petroski) Gross. Mr. Gross was 76. Mr. Gross graduated from Northampton High School in 1944. Following his graduation, he joined the Navy for two years just prior to the Korean Conflict. After his service, Mr. Gross attended MIT where he received both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1951. On June 9, 1951, the day after his graduation, he married Ednarae Bligh in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. Upon his graduation, Mr. Gross was hired by Sandia Corporation and the couple then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. During his employment, Mr. Gross was awarded a patent on a time-interval measuring device he invented for the Atomic Energy Commission. Mr. Gross had a never-ending thirst for knowledge and creativity as an engineer and inventor. Mr. Gross lived in Albuquerque from 1951 to 1964. He enjoyed raising a family, river rafting, exploring old ghost towns, camping, and fossil hunting while he lived in the West. Other interests included hiking, backpacking, skiing, and 4-wheeling in his Land Rover (long before the term became widely-known). Early in 1964, Mr. and Mrs. Gross were involved in an automobile accident on Tennessee Pass in Colorado while on a skiing vacation. Mr. Gross sustained permanent brain damage as a result of the accident, and spent the remainder of his life in a nursing home in Northampton. His wife, Ednarae B. Gross, a brother, Albion Gross and his father Julian Z. Gross preceded Mr. Gross in death. Mr. Gross is survived by his mother, Martha P. Gross; and brother, Edward Gross and his wife, Marion of Northampton; sisters, Helen Chabot and her husband, Victor of St. Louis, Missouri, and Gertrude Lashway of Easthampton; three sons, Stephen Gross of Northampton, Allan R. Gross and Jeffrey R. Gross of Albuquerque; and a daughter, Janis C. Gross of Longmont, Colorado. Survivors also include many loving nieces and nephews in the Northampton area. A funeral service for Mr. Gross was held on June 7, 2003 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Northampton. Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Maes -- Adelaida"Ida" Maes, 76, a resident of Valencia, NM, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2003. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She loved to bake cakes, cook, garden, read, take pictures, listen to music, and most of all she loved spending time on the farm with her husband. She also collected various items throughout her life. Ida is preceded in death by her parents, Luis Sanchez and Soledad Aragon-Sanchez; and her brother and his wife, Frank and Dell Sanchez. Ida is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Florian; her son, Ralph and his wife, Naria; her daughter, Sheila; her grandsons, Gene and his wife, Debbie, and Michael Maes and his fiancee, Shiloh; her granddaughters, Elena and her boyfriend, Albert, and Graziella; her great-grandson, Joshua; her great-granddaughter, Alexandra; her brother, Juan Sanchez and his wife, Prescilla; and her sister, Mina Sanchez of San Diego, CA. Ida is also survived by many other loving family members and friends. Cremation has taken place. May -- Roger P. May, 69, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1975, passed away at his home on July 13, 2003. He is survived by his daughter Lisa May and fiancé, Steve Bailey of Rio Rancho, NM; mother of his children, Martha May of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Ashley and Bradley May; several nieces and nephews in the Washington State Area. Roger was preceded in death by his son, Geoff May and one sister, Ann Potter. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. Mccamey -- Nelson McCamey, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died peacefully at home Sunday, July 13, 2003 after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Pat McCamey of the family home; son, David McCamey and wife, Susan of Cincinnati, OH; daughter, Linda McCamey Allen and husband, Ken of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Lisa Kaufer and husband, Joshua and Caitlin McCamey; brothers, John McCamey and wife, Betty and Ray McCamey and wife, Mary Jane; sisters, Geneva Higgins, Billie Goodwin, Jackie Fritz and husband, Lonnie and Shirley Stott; sister-in-law, Cynthia Norman and husband, Vernon; and many other family members and friends. Mr. McCamey was active with the Boy Scouts of America. was a longtime manager of Elder, Quinn and McGill. Mr. McCamey loved the outdoors and being with his friends. Montoya -- Natividad Montoya Nate was born September 8, 1925 in Tucumcari, NM. She passed away July 13, 2003 in Albuquerque. Nate was a loving person and touched many lives. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. Nate loved her grand and great grandkids and would do anything for them. She was preceded in death by her husband Eduardo Montoya, and is survived by her two sons, Vincent A. Montoya and wife Audrey of Dulce, NM, Raymond Montoya and wife Christine of Albuquerque; one daughter Margaret Neidhart of League City, TX.; 19 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; special niece Billie Griego of Tucumcari; numerous other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Family Worship Center, 5200 Iliff Rd. NW. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2003. Neuhaus -- Don Alan Neuhaus, 62, died on July 14, 2003 at his home in Albuquerque Born in Staunton, IL Mr. Neuhaus moved with his family to Albuquerque in 1949. In 1959, he began his career with AT&T in Albuquerque, transferring to Grants, NM where he worked for many years before returning to Albuquerque where he retired as a manager for USWest in 1996. He is survived by his parents, Harold A. and Adrienne M. Neuhaus of Albuquerque; sister, Johanna K. Neuhaus of Washington, DC; three children, and five grandchildren, Barbara J. Damskey and husband, John and their sons, Michael and Taylor of Ashton, MD, Doralien J. Ciaramella and husband, Joseph and their sons, Vincent and Joseph of Jupiter, FL and Jade D. Neuhaus and wife, Tracey and their daughter, Amber of Albuquerque. Mr. Neuhaus was preceded in death by his mother, the former Doralein Johanna Spittler Neuhaus of Staunton, IL. Ollman -- Dorothy J. Ollman Jean , 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1938, died Monday, July 14, 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Marinell Bratzler and husband, Hank of Sterling, OK, Jo Riley and husband, Doug of Albuquerque, Jan Walter and husband, Bob of Las Vegas, NV and Judy Cullison and husband, Rod of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Ollman in 1990. Mrs. Ollman was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was a painter of fine china. Mrs. Ollman left her family in Michigan at age 16 and moved to Albuquerque by herself to recover from asthma. Albuquerque remained her home where she also raised her family. She and Norman were married the day following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 17, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Oringderff -- James"Jim" Oringderff, 57, a resident of Albuquerque since 1997, died Saturday, July 12, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Oringderff of Albuquerque; daughters, SyLinda Byrd of Albuquerque and Kari Lynn Morgan and husband, Justin of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, Michael Kenner Evans Byrd of Albuquerque, James Riley Morgan and Kya Bree Morgan, both of Sacramento, CA; father, C.D. Oringderff and wife, Kathy of Plainview, TX; and brother, Orvel Lee Oringderff and wife, Donnie of Big Spring, TX. Mr. Oringderff married Sandra Evans on September 7, 1968 in Tulia, TX. He retired after 22 years of service in the US Army. He then became a church administrator serving at First United Methodist Church, Fairview Cemetery, Boys and Girls Club of Valencia County, and then Congregation Albert. He was a fantastic Opa to his grandchildren. Mr. Oringderff was a wonderful, caring husband and father. He was loved and respected by his co-workers and all that knew him. Shew -- Mary Shew, 83 passed away with grace and dignity on Friday, July 11, 2003, at home with her husband, Bob and her two surviving daughters, Donna Holmlin and JoAnne Shew. She is also survived by her two sons, Bobby Shew of Los Angeles, California and Kyle Shew of Key West, Florida. Mary had seven grandchildren whom she adored, Erik Holmlin, Ashley Floyd; Aaron and Joel Fellis; Kelly Shew: Jena and Easton Shew. Mary brought a smile and laughter to everyone she met. She knew no strangers. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Tafoya -- Albino C. Tafoya, born May 8, 1919, deceased July 11, 2003. Mr. Tafoya was born in Contreras, NM, and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, he attended Sacred heart School, joined the Army Air Corps and was a W.W.II veteran. Mr. Tafoya owned and operated Tafoya's Grocery in South Barrelas along with his wife, Rose. He retired from Kirtland AFB, after 22 years of government service. He is survived by his wife, Rose of 63 years; children, Joseph B. Tafoya, Mary D. Guyse, Al Tafoya, Lorraine Bivins and her husband, Robert and Leo Tafoya; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A mass will be celebrated Wednesday at the Sacred heart Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church. Turpin -- Ralph Turpin, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2003 after a long illness. He was born and raised in Cimarron, NM and moved to Albuquerque in 1951 and resided in Belen at his time of death. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and was a devoted Catholic all of his life. He retired after 26 years of outstanding service with the New Mexico National Guard in Santa Fe, NM. Ralph was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a wonderful brother-in-law to his wives family. Ralph left behind a lifetime of wonderful memories and many, many friends. He will be missed by all who knew him and he leaves a void in our hearts forever. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Alice of the family home in Belen; his daughter, Patricia Turpin of Belen; his son, Ralph Jr. of Albuquerque, NM; his granddaughter, Brittany Burch; his sister, Angie Turpin of Cimarron, NM; and two nephews, Eloy Brazil of Cimarron and Gino Brazil of Espanola, NM; and his niece, Louise Martinez of Pueblo, CO. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a visitation on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron, NM at a later date. Valdez -- Mrs. Rosemary P. Valdez, 55, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on July 12, 2003. Mrs. Valdez is survived by her loving daughters, Michele Ward and husband, Warren, Deborah R. Anaya and husband, Manuel R. and Rubiane Valdez; one sister, Sarah Serna and husband, Richard; one brother, Carmel Padilla Jr. and wife, Elizabeth; eight grandchildren, Daniel, Rosella, Elmer III, Michael Paul, Lorenzo, Isabela, Henry and Gabriealla; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her very much. Mrs. Valdez was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Valdez; her parents, Carmel Padilla Sr. and Isabel Padilla; a son, Elmer H. Marquez and a sister, Domie Sanchez. Mrs. Valdez was a member of the Catholic Church. A visitation for Mrs. Valdez will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Kate Ortiz and Abe Ortiz. A final Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 Stover SE with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. by Father James Moore. Pallbearers will be, Alejandro Marquez, Anthony Padilla, Richard Serna Jr, Pat Gonzales, Roy Brown and Vicky Chavez. Wells -- Kathleen Carmen Salas-Wells Kathy was born November 30, 1969 in San Francisco, CA. She passed away July 10, 2003 in Albuquerque due to Pulmonary Emboli. Kathy was a very caring and outspoken person. She was a very accomplished woman who proudly served in the US. Army, Wildflecken, West Germany, having been honorably discharged. She earned degrees in both nursing and law, and worked as a registered nurse and most recently as an attorney. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Noel Kelly in 1996, and is survived by her husband, Scott Wells; three children, Troy Wells age 13, Stephen Wells age 11, and Carmen Wells age 7, all of the family home; her mother, Ylse Helfer; Godmother, Beatriz Sanchez; father and mother - in -law, Steve and Linda Wells; numerous others who loved and will miss her. Viewing and Funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara RD. in Rio Rancho, NM. A viewing will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m., with military honors. Private family burial will take place. Wilson -- Mary Miller Wilson, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1936, died Friday, July 11, 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Charlsie Ruth Hare of Albuquerque, Carlene Ruttle and husband, Jack of Las Cruces, and Donna Lee Fuller of Albuquerque; step-son, Robert Wilson and wife, Betty of Sherman, TX; step-daughter, Margaret Jensen of Strasburg, CO; sixteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren and brother, Calvin Williams of Albuquerque. Mary was preceded in death by two husbands, Clyde Miller and Fred Wilson, granddaughter, Jayne Hare and great-grandson, J.C. Hare. She was a longtime member of First Spanish -Fruit Avenue Baptist Church. Mary retired from Sears Department Store and owned and operated grocery stores. She was a member of the Zia Roamers Good Sam RV Club and enjoyed traveling. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at First Spanish - Fruit Avenue Baptist Church, 812 Fruit Avenue NW with Rev. Thomas V. Collins officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
